  • LucasVB, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16Opera has had voice command support for a while, actually. You just need to enable it and Opera will start a 10 MB download with the extra files. After that you just restart Opera and enable voice support. Tune in your mic and have fun!

    You can configure the activation words and create any commands you want. You could make Opera go to digg by saying "Darling, digg". It's pretty fun.

    The voice support also enables voice-synthesis, so you can make Opera read stuff for you.

    You can also easily create a Firefox extension using the web interface at http://www.effectivebrand.com without having to know how to code anything. The digg toolbar was created using EffectiveBrand.

    It might be _very_ popular way to enter text when chatting & on MMORPG-type games, where many people will understand and overlook the occasional translation embarrassment (unless it's a really juicy faux pas of course).
