- mikeazorin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Who thinks we should have a google category?
- chill392, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Ok, this will never happen, but whenever a story reaches the front page, digg should automatically cache it on the digg servers and link to it there instead of the original page to prevent wasting people's bandwidth. Imagine when the webmaster wakes up in the morning and has emails from his hosting company charging him for overages on his hosting.
That probably made no sense because I am a noob, but will someone please take this into consideration.
And sorry; can't see it, won't digg it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2alrite, its pointless, but its also really cool
and shiptoshore, it could be anything, not just google - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah... ok...everyone would love Google to place a java applet on their site to help it load like sh*t.
Perfect..... totally useful.
I just can't believe there were so many diggs for this. - spacebar14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Every time I visit it, I get a Java loading page -- but my Firefox freezes :(
- skyfox2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0
I played around and broke it.
No Digg. - spacebar14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ok -- finally got it working under IE
but...
What the hell is it supposed to be?
Pointless!
But it's Google ..
+Digg - NGliam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's pretty cool, I use processing (I'm not very good but yet =P) and it is ace.
- Vergeh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'd love to see a greasemonkey script to put this in lieu of the Google logo.
- illEATurHARTout, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sure it's neat but I don't see Google using it. It's distracting and slows down my browser.
- sspboyd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You need to run the code with Processing (processing.org) in order for it to work.
Also, this code is from an older version of Processing (pre Sept, 2004). The newer versions of Processing, versions 70+, use an updated image method ( PImage ) amoung many other updates. - skyfox2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0
Heres the image - dylanA, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0thank you for wasting 10 minutes of my day.
- tmcleroy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0awesome
- firehydra2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Heh interesting concept...now if it only didn't use java...

I can see Google using something like that!
Diggidy Diggidy Diggidy Digg!! - a99tandem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I really hate web pages with Java.. it's slow, clunky, and resource consuming. Even JDE is demanding.
- antdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Neat, but useless. :)
- faceness007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just to be clear, the source code is for the Processing programing environment (processing.org). It's WAY more simple and compact than Java. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to toy around with visual programming.
- Sudar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice concept but will it be useful..???

Well, it doesnt let me hotlink
Maybe this will work - Basketb926, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.duhsoft.com/eber/google/
i made a google page with this, hope you like - reversial, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love how people digg it even when the site is down...
- speaker219, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Here is something very similar to this except in flash format:
http://206.148.124.128/flash-google-logo.html - jfritz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0More people need to use the coralCDN cache and provide that link in comments. sadly, coral is useless if it's only used after the fact that it's been digged to death.
- battybattybatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Then again, everyone here has never TRIED to crash it with digg effect. Im sure their are other ways, many ways, to crash my site - just not by digg effect alone.
Not ever. Hmm, is that a lame challenge? - speaker219, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Here is a mirror of the Java version:
http://206.148.124.128/java-google-logo.html
Enjoy! - superdigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0didn't work for firefox, i had to use IE :(
digged anyway, i guess - jovada, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the link still works fine for me! it's never been down :) strange...
The source code does five me an error though... type "BImage" not found - barium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0IT HAS GOOGLE IN THE TITLE - DUGG, LOL
- aidanm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think when they make the website for the 'Prey' movie (Michael Crichton), this could be useful ;)
- PH0RCEjeff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0works for me in safari :) gets a digg
- blakemara, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0sites *****

Makes total good sense, because that is EXATLY what can happen, but usally only when we DONT see the dig effect is when that type of bandwidth charge might kickin. One of the ISPs I use will harge if the bandwidth goes over X amount, but it will still let the bandwidth climb up as high as the blade and connection can take it. My site has never had a crash due to bandwidth climb. Its crashed for countless other reasons that my ISP has never been able to admit to or fix by themselves (I have been credited for 8 months of service due to my fixes of their problems - I am not kidding), but bandwidth usage has never crashed my sites with that provider. - coopa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Original link works just fine here.
- speaker219, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You can use your own logo with this.
- oldcyborg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Actually, end of last month, the lawsuit settlement between bill and Sun started in effect. From now on, if you want java, or microsoft wants java, we WILL use Suns version. No more Microsoft Version, at all.. They will use Sun just like everyone else, and must refer us to sun, if java comes up in the discussion.....
So, there may be more to this, than first appears. Know what I mean, Vern???
Cyborg
Yeah - battybattybatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"...Sick of broken links...."
A link isnt broken just because a site is down, moron! - battybattybatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0digg effect still in on :
http://www.madmerv.com/portfolio/dotsnotgoogle/index.html - headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@kylef - Yeah, what mathew_bug said. I'm sure everyone else here understands that all the stories you digg are listed in your profile so you can go back to them later if you want. Congrats, you're the idiot of the day.
- Cheyne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0good fun
- spookyct, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i've been trying to load this for 3 hours... grrrr now, i NEED to see it
- crbaker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0digg needs a mechanism to highlight broken links and push them down the ranking. Sick of broken links.
- Yodacola, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh yeah... front row digger :)
Very nice Java, but needs to be AJAX for Google to start using it :( -
