- gwjc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Looks like a wealth of good AJAX articles; though his page seems to have been caught off-guard as there are a bunch of br's that are missing the preceeding angle bracket and showing after each of the links.
- Dravis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Ack! Does Digging a story submitted by Kevin Rose before you realize it was submitted by Kevin Rose, still make me a lemming?
- dmron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I hate it when Hugh has trouble accessing my web site. :(
- gcube9x, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5"it can cause hugh accessibility issues"
Didn't know hefner was having lady problems... - pkulak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3it's bad enough having br's in you html, let alone the page output. :D

- fundmanager2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You could just use an AJAX framework such as Thinwire [http://www.thinwire.com] and let it handle the interoperability issues for you.
- detrate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Apparently this person didn't feel the need to read their article after they posted it.br />
What a shame. - dchesterton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's not really illegal yet, as long as you don't put massive barriers in the way of blind and disabled users (as target.com did) it's very unlikely you will get sued.
Why should you do it? Maybe because it's moral, what would you do if you walked into a shop and tried to buy something because you had a yellow shirt on - how would you feel? It's exactly the same thing with this; there is no need to discriminate against blind users when it's so easy to cater for them.
Also remember, googlebot is blind. - dchesterton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What's going on with the editing in V3? Anyway the line "if you walked into a shop and tried to buy something because you had a yellow shirt on" is meant to be "if you walked into a shop and tried to buy something but was refused because you had a yellow shirt on".
- tony23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes, for the love of God.
In pace requiescat! - Fish123456, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3::From the first link in the submitted article::
>Myth 2. All accessibility issues must be fixed
>Our attitudes to these disabilities should also vary between accessibility issues. We can't ignore
>blind people from a moral or legal standpoint.
Why is it illegal to "ignore" blind people by not providing accessibility when designing a web interface? My site is not a government-based site which requires it's citizens to visit in order to access important information. Why can't I "discriminate through laziness" like so many B&M places do today?
Just a rant... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does anyone know of a good wireframing/prototyping tool/stencil for RIA (AJAX/Web2.0, etc.) ??
Digimmersion has a simple one for Visio 2003, I was wondering if there's anything better? - dsmudger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Exactly. Just the way my workplace has to have wheelchair access by law, but my house doesn't.
Likewise a business like Target is obliged 'make reasonable adjustments' to provide access both online and in their stores. Your personal pet project/website you can code how you like - even if it becomes popular (digg/slashdot/wikimapia etc), but then your users will probably start asking for it and if you're making money from ad. revenue, then chances are you'll ultimately decide it's worth making the adjustments (though I don't think you'd be obliged to make it accessible unless you were a business...). - dmron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree, it's silly. Especially lawsuits about it. If I build something that's inaccessible to someone, and it doesn't really matter to me, then that should just be the way it is. I mean obviously not if it was something life or death, ok that's different, but we're talking about web sites here. It's your web site, you should be able to do whatever the hell you want with it.
- mdwvt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Too bad the guy can't handle line break tags correctly. Anybody else notice that? I guess a few broken html tags might not create an "accessibility issue" in your AJAX app though. =D
- mdwvt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1lol... guess I should have read the _1st Comment_ first. =|
- mdwvt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1for the love of all things AJAX!
- bberg07, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Go figure, yet another problem preventing my uncle from using the internet. Sucks to be a Hugh.
