- Zguru, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12My wife takes care of using AJAX, as well as BROOM, DUST.PAN, and WASHING.MACHINE.
Why the hell do I need to learn this?
:) - dionalmaer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3For a bit more meat on Ajax, check out Ajaxian.com, the communities source for ajax news. We have a podcast too.
- deut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No digg for the original submission by bonlebon - the article is not that good really. However, I was much more impressed with Ajaxian.com that dionalmaer mentions. (Now Bookmarked!)
- fridge2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1AJAXIMIFIED!
- Arve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This article was pretty weak, and fails to address some of the problems you will run into.
One example: If the document you are fetching does not have an */xml Content-Type, there will be no responseXML. - Chewxy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You know.. AJAX ain't new... Jeff Rouyer (of HTML Guru and the DHTML books fame) showed it off when Netscape first came out with DHTML compatibility. He even showed Httpgetrequest, if I am not mistaken. That time, XML wasn't even well ratified, if I remember correctly. Google used it in their Gmail application, and popularised it.. that's all!
- Maajid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1No, kinobe it's not you.
:) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0new technology??
- yogurtslinger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1hasn't there been enough AJAX and other web design links on here???
- Flynnz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what's so new about this technology?
Man ebay's whole "it" campaign really apply so internet trends as well.
I remember it was not all that long ago when javascript was frowned apon being used. Funny what a snappy name will do. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think we all know what AJAX is by now, thanks.
No digg. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Stupid AJAX everything...
Ok, we get it, its "AJAXIFIED", move on! - socket, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0God I almost fell over with excitement when I saw this! It's so rare you see AJAX covered on Digg. I can't wait until we see even more useful and exciting AJAX links on Digg. Please spread the word about AJAX the exciting new technology no one knows about yet.
- jeg1972, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What we should have are posts about how accessible applications designed using AJAX are. If you're designing applications for the Government, certainly here in the UK, anything using JavaScript is usually frowned upon because of the accessibility issues.
- jcs_goog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Here's AJAX for Dummies:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0471785970/002-2134887-0060054?v=glance&n=283155&v=glance - Boondoggle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've got an idea, lets all post non-news stories about how to use AJAX every fricking day, and twice on sundays. That way we won't miss any critical, late-breaking AJAX news.
/sarcasm
I say go and AJAX off towards a small dog or garden gnome for a change. - kingamoon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You know what's funny? If we remove all comments that are complaints (Yes I'm talking about you you ***** hippies bitching about everything .. including this post:), you would not see any post with comments more than 30.
- casabona, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what the hell. People complain when something isn't tech related, and when there is something tech related, there is "too much of it"? Well the people who do web development with foresight will know to read up as much as possible because it seems a lot of places *cough*Google *cough* are using AJAX for their web apps.
- znxster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@Chewxy haha .. cool, I never knew that.. hence fore my AJAX diggs shall be limited ;)
- windwaker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's a stupid web 2.0 buzzword, but it's been around for ages.
- CorpT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ajax? Never heard of it. Anyone have some links so I can learn what it is and how it will make my life worth living?
- windwaker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Now, you see, if you don't like what am I'm saying, don't reread it. It's that simple. Don't ruin it for everyone else by being stupid, jhowe.
- Boondoggle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"You know what's funny? If we remove all comments that are complaints (Yes I'm talking about you you ***** hippies bitching about everything .. including this post:), you would not see any post with comments more than 30."
Man I love this... Classic! Yeah brother, ban the complaints. Start with this post. I guess even Hippies can see the irony in that. - meteors, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0AJAX is a bunch of silly hype. Flash has had XMLSockets since at least the year 2000, and it was able to make server requests without loading a new web page even before that. (Javascript has had the capability almost as long.)
This whole AJAX thing is _just_ because Google started using it. It's just so silly.
-j - jhowe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0windwaker, I actually wasn't talking about your comment. I was talking about comments about AJAX and comments in general where people are talking about "how much" something is talked about. If something is talked about and no one diggs the story, then i think that that should speak for itself. If someone diggs something and it actually gets to the front page, i think that that should speak for itself as well, not by some person that just doesn't like it.
- kinobe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Is it just me or are there just WAY too many articles and tutorials and whatnot appearing on digg about this sh!t....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Can we please stop diggging these "this is what Ajax is" articles, even the ones that break it down into nuts and bolts. We've seen them all before and they seem to be getting less complete and certainly less interesting.
- jhowe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0When I posted this comment, there were 575 diggs for this story. Apparently people haven't seen enough, and apparently some people still like to read about AJAX whether or not it's a new technology. If you don't like an article, Don't Digg It. It's that simple. Don't ruin every one elses time by being stupid.

What is Digg?
