- zimsters, on 06/29/2008, -7/+38i'll consider webspam fixed when they get rid of experts-exchange links showing up with every technical problem i have, which then asks you to pay them to see the solution.
- hawksfan03, on 06/29/2008, -4/+23If only google could exclude experts-exchange search results from coming up. Other than that, they do an amazing job.
- Babel33, on 06/29/2008, -3/+16"If we do our job well, you may see low-quality results from time to time, but you won't have to face sneaky JavaScript redirects, unwanted porn, gibberish-stuffed pages or other types of webspam."
Wait, what? Unwanted porn? - vibrokatana, on 06/29/2008, -3/+16Just scroll down.
- trenchcoat, on 06/29/2008, -3/+10Does this mean they've gotten rid of all the spam blogs on blogger?
- DavidinBoston, on 06/29/2008, -2/+8There are SO MANY spam blogs on Google Blog Search. Slogging through them SUCKS.
- alethes1973, on 06/29/2008, -1/+7I found the experts-exchange results so annoying I created my own custom google search that just ignores any results from that site. I figure I can add more sites later if needed.
http://www.google.com/coop/cse?cx=0004207889638509 ... - Pottypotsworth, on 06/29/2008, -0/+4As much as i hate EE, they are't technically spamming!
- FLarsen, on 06/30/2008, -0/+4If you scroll down on experts-exchange, you will find what you are looking for.
- julianrod, on 06/30/2008, -0/+3Death and taxes.
And spam. - johndavidjack, on 06/29/2008, -0/+2That EE trick does work, and I didn't even use the cached links.
- WilliamDavis, on 06/29/2008, -0/+2Neither does brain.
- ttamshadbolt, on 06/30/2008, -0/+2I'm sick of people complaining about experts-exchange showing up in google results... Just scroll to the bottom past all the "sign up to see answer" nonsense and you will be able to read the full answer.
- cresswga, on 06/29/2008, -0/+2Actually you can see the answers on experts-exchange if you just scroll to the bottom of the page (passed where all of the hidden answers are).
- PatrickBrown, on 06/29/2008, -4/+6You can try it out right now: http://www.google.com/
Amazing. - davideparker, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1If you're really part of an anti-spam team at Google, you need to STOP GOOGLE SPAM!!!
Google is by far the number one source of spam on Usenet (newsgroups). By their own
admission, Google doesn't care (try reporting spam to groups-abuse@google.com
and see the idiotic auto-response). - pixelperfect, on 06/29/2008, -0/+1Nice!
- Daniel591992, on 06/29/2008, -0/+1I think they fixed that.
- M724, on 06/29/2008, -4/+5On one hand, I'm all for separating junk and spam from legitimate information.
On the other hand, I think nobody can truly put an end to spam. - WilliamDavis, on 06/29/2008, -0/+1I take it you own some type of patent site?
- muszek, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1RTFA... it's about a completely different kind of spam.
- wildfire, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7333522659 ...
- foxontherock, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1Google helps you see the Experts Exchange results. Click the "view cache" link on the google search page result. You will see what google saw when they visited the page, and google are using an account to see the page. So, with that "view cache" link, you use google account to see ExpertExchange solution, I use it very often, it works fine. You have to scroll down.
- encrypteduser, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1Working as a malware researcher I find tons of links redirecting valid google search terms to malware ridden pages. The sad part is that the malware creators have such a grasp on SEO and the google algorithm that they are able to position the landing page on the top 5 listings of typical google searches. It's ridiculous!
- cereal1, on 06/29/2008, -4/+4Funny, I still get experts-exchange as #1-4 when I'm looking for programming tips. Spam fighter indeed.
- johndavidjack, on 06/29/2008, -0/+0Link doesn't work.
- shinkou, on 06/30/2008, -0/+0I used to be a regular user of Experts-Exchange back in a few years ago, but I found it very annoying when they put those mosaic things on all of their pages without logging in. I liked the atmosphere there where people really wanted to help each other solving problems, but they shouldn't be that mean to other non-members... what a waste!
p.s. now I'm sticking with http://www.linuxquestions.org/ most of the time. - WilliamDavis, on 06/29/2008, -3/+3Cheat your way into top positions? Nice to see how Google likes to control the conversation and place blame on others. As a google searcher... I think if they serve crap search results, it's *their* fault.
- inactive, on 06/30/2008, -0/+0Which is why they have this team in place to stop it!! Wake up.
- databrid, on 06/29/2008, -2/+2zimsters, for experts exchange always look at the cached version. It shows the question, blanked out answers and at the bottom of the document the actual answers. Seems Google doesn't allow them to run the code that would normally have hidden this text.
- Carnacior, on 06/30/2008, -1/+0nice
- RamsesII, on 06/29/2008, -2/+1Simple. Just get Picard to tell him to fight spam. He's not programmed for insubordination.
- kenvsryu, on 06/29/2008, -9/+8If people didn't fall for spam, it wouldn't be around.
- NeoSeo, on 06/30/2008, -3/+1Google: all your content are belong to us!
- cliffr39, on 06/29/2008, -4/+1As long as I can still search for free porn I don't care what they do
- beabis, on 06/29/2008, -4/+0I'll consider webspam fixed when they get rid of:
www.freepatentsonline.com
www.patentstorm.us
www.freshpatents.com
At least one of these shows up in nearly every technology search. Adding -patent just pushes them down a little. - BMANZZS, on 06/29/2008, -10/+1http://www.gooooogle.com/
