- atomicwedgie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4So it's not new to some of you older digg users. Some of us new ones have never seen it and there are lots of us. I don't see the big deal. If it's old to you, just skip over it. Am I wrong here?
- expensix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Because you decided to spam, I decided to block you.
- zeeneo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3For anyone with this annoyance:
"When a float is contained within a container box that has a visible border or background, that float does not automatically force the container's bottom edge down as the float is made taller. Instead the float is ignored by the container and will hang down out of the container bottom like a flag."
http://www.positioniseverything.net/easyclearing.html - loneBoat, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Okay. I don't usually comment too much, but why is posting a dupe such a cardinal sin? The purpose of Digg is to be a social link/news aggregator, right? Well, if someone finds a nice something online which they think others might enjoy, they post it. If other people like it, they 'digg' it. If enough people digg it, it makes the front page, and that should be that, right? Everyone should be happy and singing songs and holding hands. I know that I for one found this link useful - I had been to that site a few times before, but I had forgotten about it. Because of this story on Digg, I was able to go, 'oh yeah, I remember that site!' and go brush up on some simple CSS. Nice! I would have never thought 'hey, I know, I'll go and search through the ancient annals of Digg for that site I forgot about!' (because, well, I FORGOT about it...). But thanks to this guy, I was able to remember it. I say digg it! If you don't like it then, ummm, DON'T digg it! I wish people would stop cluttering comment boards with whiny complaints about 'hey guys! This is a STUPID DUPE!'. There's just no point to it. It got to the front page by being dugg, so OBVIOUSLY someone found it useful, which means that it has SERVED it's PURPOSE. Don't expect every story on Digg to be something that has NEVER been linked to at ANY TIME on Digg. I just don't think that's the purpose of Digg.
Am I in the minority on this? If so, please give me negative diggs on my comment, so that at least I'll know. If not, give me POSITIVE diggs so people can see that not EVERYONE is heinously offended by innocent dupes...
::whew:: Okay, time to go and change into my flame-retardant bodysuit. Go ahead, flame me... - themuffinman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Dammit I can't stand the 1337 h4x0rz who cry "DUPE!" I''ve seen this before too, but i'll move on and let others who haven't seen it appreciate it.
- darkpulsaromega, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Digg's web design uses a lot of floating elements, and it doesn't look like a geocities website to me. Most modern websites you go to use floating elements, you just don't notice them as much because they aren't set up like a geocities ad that floats above your website.
- nOR1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Nice find. Should be able to learn some more stuff from this...
- appidydafoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I learned a few good tips from these a year ago, he breaks it down really well - especially for beginners. Dugg.

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Although I can't stand any more CSS news, that is a great find! thanks!
- kewlceo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Here's another explanation: http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_intro.asp
- stokestack, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Do any of these tutorials explain what is "cascading" about these style sheets?
- kenok, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Even you know about the cascade... you might find that some rules overlapping each other or doesn't get rendered, here's a nice article that helps:

I needed it.
CSS floats drive me insane. - Seidoger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I do indeed remember it from a while back. But i do remember how it helped me quite a bit too! This page is seriously a gold mine.
- bmcnitt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1FWIW. Some resources that helped me learn CSS.
http://brianmcnitt.com/wp/2005/08/15/10-best-resources-for-css/ - gometro33, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Also, if you type in "float css" in to Google this is the first result. And therefore can't be new...
- Zhay, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0Old indeed.
- Mojave, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Why does this dupe get so many more diggs than the original? Is that just because there are many more digg users now than 6 months ago?
And where do these 140 diggers come from? They now know it's a dupe but they're still digging it. I suppose that's because it's a new story to *them*. - en3r0, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Great find, good way to ease bandwidth problems by using css, not images.

http://virtenu.com - eclectro, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Is it just me?? I hate crap that floats around a website. Too much like "geocities".
- hotpepper, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Sigh! This is SO old.
- lalindsey, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2I know wtf is up with this? ollllld as hell.
- RyeBrye, on 10/12/2007, -14/+5Wow. This is the ultimate dupe... just about everything on maxdesign has been submitted at least once...
http://www.digg.com/search?search=maxdesign.com&submit=Submit
Why not just digg the one that was submitted 195 days ago?
http://www.digg.com/programming/Step-by-Step_CSS_Float_Tutorial
Using the .com.au as a way to get around the dupe detection isn't cool either... Right now in Australia someone's pooping their pants because of the digg effect.

What is Digg?
