All a comment spam bot would have to do would be to set the referer to http://dvorak.org/ and this filter could be bypassed. Also, anyone behind an anonymizing proxy would be judged as a spammer since those proxies do not report their referers.

- nullvariable, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Most spam solutions can't filter out real people and there are companies in India and other places that have 5-10 people who will go around and fill out sign up forms and place the comment spam for cheap. Why bother finding a way around the filter when you can pay some guy $1/hour to do it?

It's funny how my girlfriend made a joke to Alex in Toronto at the Meetup about Dvorak mentioning his blog and now suddenly everyone is making fun of it. Coincidence? I think not... - willmacc, on 06/07/2008, -0/+0I like spam-karma and bad-behvior. Those two plugins for Wordpress takes care of about 98% of all spam. Setting wordpress for moderation on all comments takes care of the other 2 percent... :))

By which time, he can get one of his slaves to change the posting script to do it the correct way, i.e., add some magic bean to both the posting page and the submission script, to ensure each submission comes from a unique visit to his site.
