- revmitcz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9A "landing page" that just rehashed crap one was searching for, etc. - or the classic adult site warning page (which, in the adult industry is referred to as a "landing page") can be annoying, yes.
But integrating information on related/newest posts, etc. alongside the article that brought you to the site in the first place is good for all involved. I think I'll give this a shot on my blog - certainly can't hurt. - lalindsey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Oh, I think it's a good idea. Did you actually read or look at the post? This isn't a landing page, as in a warning type of page. It takes you to the page you are looking for, but it includes a list of links relevant to what you arrived there looking for.
I need this for Movable Type! - mikeyaj86, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6THIS IS ADS ... DIGG THIS GUY OUT OF HERE!
- Bogtha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This isn't implemented correctly. When you vary your content depending on an HTTP request header (in this case, Referer), you need to send an appropriate Vary response header so that caches don't serve a landing page for one person to somebody totally different as well. Read RFC 2616.
- ogletree, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Didn't google already do this for the searcher.
- Sudar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was wondering whether Google will be happy about it or not, since the user might see a different page rather than what was seen by GoogleBot and the spam filters may be triggered. Thought the content changed is going to be very minimal in terms of Human understanding I am not sure whether GoogleBot will be intelligent to sense that.
Can anyone confirm this? - marinello2003, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Someone needs to fix the sidebar integration. That is currently broken.
- Silkjaer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Bogtha, thanks for the notice on that :)
- crpietschmann, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Neet idea! I'll think I may have to add that functionality to my blog, since most visitors come to my block through Google searches.
- xenlab, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1i'll be piloting on one of my blogs too. If it works out, I'll implement it across more of my wordpress powered sites....
- aaronlidman, on 10/12/2007, -11/+5too bad landing pages are freakin annoying.
- Habemus, on 10/12/2007, -12/+1Never mind.
