http://xkcd.com/233/ - ers35, on 10/10/2007, -1/+30A captcha is the security message you must repeat when signing up or commenting on some websites. It is used to prevent spam.
- MasterThief117, on 10/10/2007, -3/+30The best ones I have seen before this was using rapidshare and megaupload. Rapidshare was 0RLY and megaupload was NOU.
- Jones82, on 10/10/2007, -0/+26It's down
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+23coral cache got em. after a long wait:

Captcha stands for "Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart"
It's usually seen as the little pictures you have to read the letters/numbers/word from and type into a box. A program couldn't do it, so it's to make sure you're a human and not a script. - dyreschlock, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19dugg for irony
- SLYK, on 10/10/2007, -3/+21Then why waste time and post it, *****?
- MellerTime, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16Wait, there's a Wordpress blog with 1280 x 1024 pictures of nude Sharapova on it?!
- Jones82, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAPTCHA
- profertel, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15The automagical properties of teh internets allow you to type define:captcha in the google search field, or to look it up on Wikipedia, urbandictionary or any other body of knowledge of your choice. The poster who didn't know what it was is a) a Martian b) lazy c) ignorant d) stupid e) n00b or f) all of the above. Maybe the poster has now learned that a person is responsible to look things up for themselves on the network-- information isn't handed to you on a silver platter. You have to do some hunting and gathering on your own. Sorry, don't mean to be rude, but that's just my opinion.

Protect your site and donate ten second(ish) slices of peoples' otherwise wasted computer time to scanning books into the bargain. - binaryspiral, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13Unfortunately no matter how good your captcha is, if your site is a target for hackers they will embed your captcha on the portal page of free porn sites so when a human (lots of them) want in, they complete the captcha and get the free porn. The hackers get another account on your site.
It's still a great way to keep out the scriptkiddies. - identifiedlogo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11"To anyone curious, I translated the braille one; it says “jynn was here”.", got to learn how to decode braille
- roomforpanic, on 10/10/2007, -4/+15pics or it didn't happen.

http://speaker219.joolo.com/captcha/Craziest%20Captchas%20on%20the%20Web%20at%20English%20Headwear%20Blog.htm - antdude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Even if he/she doctors it as a fake one?
- KevenM, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9How appropriate that this site's story tagline reads: "Ever worried about too much traffic? " I suppose not.
- NeMeSiS187, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9it's the wonderful feature you get while signing up for a website where it asks you to type the terribly deformed letters that you see in the box to make sure you're a human.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8I almost missed the "too much traffic" joke here.
- jkramlich, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8I have heard this but could not find one documented case of this actually occurring. Neither could a reporter interviewing us about CAPTCHA. I'm one of the developers of HumanAuth http://www.gigoit.org/humanauth Do you have any proof that this isn't just a myth?
- svenathon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I think thats WHY it's funny
- CryptiniteDemon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7All the dirty ones are from google.
- svenathon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6That is a fantastic idea, I wish I could digg you twice
- MatthewBlack, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I was wondering that too. I thought maybe because I had had my account for long enough. Does anyone out there (esp new users) still see captchas?
- mb3581, on 10/10/2007, -6/+11http://sideways8.files.wordpress.com/2006/07/hotcaptcha.jpg
- Typhoon2009, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Why haven't I seen any captchas on Digg for a while?
- mediaphile, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5skilled? you go to google and type in the word captcha. you're telling me it takes skill to do that?
- Farmer77, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Digg for PNESS
- ers35, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5 That grammar check is hitting two birds with one stone if you know what I mean.
- hmemcpy, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6This one is the best:
http://worsethanfailure.com/Articles/Please_Retype_The_Bible.aspx - lukas88, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I switched to the pictures of men to see if I could do it, and it took me 10 tries to finally prove I was human. I suppose there is a lot of gray area when choosing whether a guy is attractive or not.
- SoulDesigner, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3the captcha is the ***** thing you completed when you wrote your comment. May I just add I really like how you can listen to the captcha on digg. Because of captchas a lot of websites arent accessible by people with visual impairments.
- raptordrew, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3jesus, I do NOT want to have to solve limits when verifying I'm human.
- bytecolor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You don't have to enter the captcha after a while. I'm not sure if it's triggered on a set number of posts or what. It seems in my case, it went away right after I changed a few things in my profile. Coincidence?
- Humbick, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4dude, i didnt know what a captcha was, and at least all i did was click the damn link (durrrr "Craziest Captchas on the Web"). Maybe you should explain to him what google is if he needs to ask dumbass questions.
i digg you down too, for wasting ur breath on a retard - EricTheGrey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3No, but the rest of us waited until you asked the question so we didn't look foolish. :P
- djpants428, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3no, it's actually really easy to test if duggmirror caught it: go to your address bar, delete the word "digg" and type "duggmirror," then hit enter...
- knetworx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Low standards = No validation
- Combat, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4the myFabrik one was really good!
- smackhero, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2duh, that's why we have CAPTCHAs, to keep out bots and the visually impaired.
- kingkool68, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I was registering for an account on Wikipedia and I got this -> http://www.russellheimlich.com/blog/did-wikipedia-just-insult-me/
