You were eaten by a grue. - Haroldx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Flash 9 only? They don't even have Flash 8 for *nix, yet.

M_e_m_o_r_y_. - kurrent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I still remember the day my dad brought home a floppy disk labelled "sex olympics"
I loaded it up, played it, and didn't get it.
I was 7.
Now i'm 27 and I think I get it. - kp3469, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5load "kool",8,1
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Wasteland, Bard's Tale, Ultima, Might & Magic, etc, etc, etc.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yeah, EA was OK, but Epyx, those guys were gods. Jumpman was epic. And Impossible Mission! "Stay a-vhile, stay vorevah!"
Not to mention Summer Games, Winter Games, California Games, Pit Stop. And GI Joe; the game itself was crap, but it was the first C64 game to play music while loading.
I tell ya, copied Commodore and Apple II disks were the currency of the school yard when I was a kid. I wonder how those companies made any money? Like, who actually bought those games? - CharlesDarwin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Spy Hunter!
- spyrochaete, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3GI Joe! Ghostbusters! Super Gianna Sisters!!!!
- oldmanpants, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yes! BC's Quest for Tires, Spy vs Spy, Spy Hunter, Load Runner, Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, Popeye.... gotta fire up the old C64's now!
I've got 2 C64's with floppy drives, as well as the cassette deck, 300baud modem, and a bunch of software still in original boxes with even the rebate cards in em... including GEOS... hehe I will have to fire these up again... nevermind emulators when you've got the real deal with hundreds of cracked games ;) - Inthraller, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Load "*" ,8,1
ahh... I remember that was the first thing I could type without having to look at the keyboard. Anyone ever type in the long ass commands from the manual to see the animation of the little hot air balloon with the commodore logo on it move around the screen? Those were the days. - gklinger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Want to relive your past but your Commodore 64 (or 128 or VIC-20 or PET etc.) is long gone? No problem. Grab VICE, the free, open source Commodore emulator from http://www.viceteam.org/ and then head over to http://www.c64.com/ and download your favorite games. All the retro goodness you can handle and then some.
For more proof that the Commodore community is alive and well check out http://www.lemon64.com/ or http://www.petscii.com/ where you'll find all kinds of people enjoying the good, old days. - tempusrob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Impossible Mission!
/destroy him, my robots!
//really was impossible - cyclotron, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4What about the Vic-20!?
- djcree, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I had a VIC-20 and miss it so much. My mom threw it away when she moved and cleaned out the attic. She didn't even tell me she was going to do that! I almost had to go into therapy over that one. I had about 15 game cartridges for it too. And the tape drive and everything.

- RaggTopp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Who remembers the precursor to the 64? The PET? or how about the UBER version of the 64......the 128, with it's obnoxious switch to a GREEN background.
So did anyone else have a major flashback when they first popped in their copy of Vice City?
I was like, "OMG people remember the 64???/ w00t!!!" - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3All about the Ultima and Sid Meyer's Pirate's..
Oh, and Adventure Construction Set - DigW, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Games . . they looked much better then - than now, very similar to girlfriends .. as it goes.
For me my first successful load of Beach-Head ( had to turn my cassette deck upside-down because I'd copied it from my mate - cassette to cassette ) was amazing . . wide eyed wonder at the graphics and game play.
I would love to get the same buzz now from next Gen . . but I guess I'm getting old - hope the buzz still happens for 13yr olds now on the 360 . . - tuxuser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2no dice doesn't work. on linux seems i can't use this.
- richardiscool, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Flash 9!?!?!
Linux is stuck at 7!
Get on with it Adobe! - gklinger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Q-Link isn't dead! Check out http://www.petscii.com/qlink/ where you can download the client to use on a real Commodore 64 or an emulator. It was reverse engineered and reimplemented by a couple of dedicated Commodore enthusiasts. It's quite a blast from the past.
- Permagrin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ahh... time for a little stroll down memory lane....
I loved my Commodore days.. lesse.. Vic-20, C-64, C-64SX, C-128, Amiga 500, Amiga 2500... I had HUNDREDS of floppies with many games on them a piece.. Who else used one of those punches to make the floppies double sided? Who remembers using Fast Hack'em to copy disks in about 10 seconds? I remember you could take 2 1541's and daisy chain them, then you could set them up to copy disks without being attached to the computer.. and if you had 1571's you could copy both sides at once!
Games that I spent countless hours on.: Impossible Mission(I could finish it in about an hour), Raid on Bungling bay, Choplifter, M.U.L.E., Archon, Pinball Construction Set, One on One, Lode Runner, Jumpman, Ultima IV, Bruce Lee, Conan.. I could go on and on..
Whenever I think about the past, it sure brings back memories... - jla1987, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Wow, how I wish this site would work.
- dbug, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Back then, the concept of computer games was new and exciting. Nowadays, they're just another thing kids grow up with and therefore the "buzz" won't be the same at all.
- bobonot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Had a Vic-20... couldn't afford fancy stuff like cartridge so we bought a book of computer game. Just type in the code, save to cassette, load and run. Well... needless to say things didn't go that smoothly. The font used in the book made characters difficult to determine with certainty and many an hours were wasted when after typing everything it it failed to run. Sometimes debugging would turn up a ) instead of a }, but more often then not the program would never run. There was 1 program that I played with on and off for a couple years... I finally got it to work only by loading another game first! ARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!! Give me my youth back Commodore!!!!!
- Zm3r3, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I WANT PAPERBOY!!!11!1
- postaldave, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6i'm stuck in the land of 7 and they are at 9 already?!?
love my linux box but this flash crap has got to improve.
flash is destroying the internet. - CaptainWeasel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I STILL HAVE MY C64 AND IT STILL WORKS
It will never leave my grasp. - bennomatic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Raid on Bungeling Bay!
- Cyrealm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2A walk down memory lane. A few more classics not mentioned: Archon 1 & 2, Paradroid, Uridium, & Telengard. Fast Hack-em was also a wonderful friend to aid in game exchange program. =)
- drzeus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The next version of Flash for Linux will be 9. It will be released soon after the final release of Flash 9 for Windows and Mac.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Anyone have a screenshot? Macromedia is to lame to release Flash 9 for Linux.
- jschrab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The svn contains a 6502 emulator class package in ActionScript... I smell a subset of MAME capabilities in a very portable form someday soon...
- Amplix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hmm... nothing for me, any other Intel Mac users having trouble?
- quaffapint, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nice to play all those old games...
http://www.funnyandfun.com - fuzzweed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Love my C64 emu on my PSP! Game play > 3D graphics anyday. No chance i'll be paying for any UMDs full of tedious sh1te......
...WizzBall, Head Over Heals, Nebulus..... - EquinnoxX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Test Drive Series started on c64!!
anyone remember that Ghetto Blaster game, or Caveman UGH-Lympics??!
Awesome. - cwahlers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Tape and Floppy Disk are not yet emulated, thus when you type "LOAD" it doesn't find anything and searches endlessly. Press 'Escape' to get back to the command prompt. We updated the demo with a better UI now, so you can play a few more games. Enjoy.
http://codeazur.com.br/stuff/fc64/ - cwahlers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1re: Flash Player 9 for Linux:
"Yes, Adobe is actively working on the Linux version of Flash Player 9. We expect to make a pre-release version available on Adobe Labs for early feedback and testing before the end of the year, with the full release expected in early 2007"

- Noloco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I forgot to mention that it was bought all at a garage sale for 5dollars. Along with games and guess what pirated ones to! Omg..Hell am I at fault ? *runs* This was back in the 90's. My friend and I used to always play games on his. Then it was cool when I got one. It still runs..Just can't find my rf converter and I heard it is possible to use the Nintendo but it doesn't work properly for me..Not as the tv to game converter does.
- ElectricGrandpa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"love my linux box but this flash crap has got to improve.

Sorry but I had to add that there's no other technology that's doing this... so without Flash you'd have nothin! - ericeman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, good times with the Commodore 64!
I remember Load and an asterisk being used for most my games- spy vs. spy, my favorite, never worked right. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Where's StrongBad?
- delhokie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ahh...do you remember PEEK & POKE ? Ahh, my $88 Vic 20... text adventure games. Geez this makes me feel old!
