- donda, on 10/12/2007, -11/+6I don't understand why every time an AJAX related story/article gets front page, someone always moans about if getting front page.
I hope that this one will get to the front page, and not get buried like the other one,
http://digg.com/programming/Top_20_AJAX_Tutorials- TheComputerMutt, on 10/12/2007, -8/+9Because about every single day an AJAX tutorial or collection therof makes the front page. It's lame.
- donda, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Only when there is enough interest out there, then it can make it to the frontpage. Even daily, so what??
- gekkokid, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8can't people search for ajax tutorials? is google not cool to use anymore?
also normally the majority of the tutorials in collections of ajax tutorials are actually AHAH and not AJAX - AdverseEntropy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5No, because Google is often unreliable and not as handy as a compilation of clear-cut tutorials.
- Xoligy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Oh god. I wonder how many "I hate AJAX, stop digging it and getting it on to the front page" comments there will be for this article.
People digg things because they like them and found them interesting/helpful. You don't like it, don't visit Digg, but don't moan on every frontpaged story. - nyheat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4actually, this page in particular is completely ad-driven
all they did is copy paste other people's tutorials into their own page, then filled up their site with ads
none of the tutorials here are their own, and they shouldn't be allowed to copy paste other people's work
even if you click on some of the links, you get their top frame with advertising on top of the real author's page
this should be pulled off Digg - donda, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Hi nyheat
Even though I agree with your observations about the site, however I still don't think it should be pulled off. I don't understand logic of this digg 'buried story' of front page item, just like they bury the following item
http://digg.com/programming/Top_20_AJAX_Tutorials
As many express here, if an item can make it to the frontpage, obviously there is enough interest out there. Buring it only deprive others of opportunities. - thefirelane, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yes, we need more quickly assembled 'top X' lists here on digg that are surrounded by ads.
I can't believe my article didn't make front page.
http://www.digg.com/links/The_Top_10_Top_10_lists_on_Digg.com - lightningrod220, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3OMG! AJAX!!!! Digg digg digg digg digg digg digg!!!!
- elvirs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0gekkokid
if google was enough there would be no need for such site as digg.
- tymonn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3its always the same links :P
just in diferent pages xD
but.. AJAX rulz :D bring more of them!! :D - i6koi, on 10/12/2007, -12/+2
- AdverseEntropy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Okay. A little Digg 101 for you whiners.
If a story makes front page, it's because enough people found it interesting or useful to digg it. If you are not one of these people, then don't click on it, but don't bitch because other people want do. A few stories that you don't care about making it onto the front page in a day isn't going to bring your world crashing around you.- pornel, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Looking at the insane amount of useless AJAX toys and increasing number of broken, unreliable pages I think very few people find AJAX useful. Most just find AJAX cool and digg it just for sake of being "Web 2.0" trendy.
- demigod186, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1if a comment gets burried it's because...
It seems the same people that are ruby AJAX/Apple/Ruby fanboys saying "its here because every one on digg likes it" are the same ones that complain about being burried. - transeunte, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Looking at the insane amount of useless AJAX toys and increasing number of broken, unreliable pages I think very few people find AJAX useful. That's a good theory...
... not.

- Yuffie, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0Does AJAX have something to do with Apple Jacks? Cuz it sure is making me hungry...
- SirCharge, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0Ajax rocks. Cleans sinks and counters.
- demigod186, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Anyone else feel like it's 1998 again where you could just sprinkle words like: Java,XML,Sun, or Enterprise on something and it would magically become an important article or resume?
I guess now its AJAX,Ruby(which people assume is a short way of saying "Ruby on Rails"), Apple, and Web 2.0 - Chrysalid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Somebody HAS to stop these lame "Top x tutorials of x" posts. Use Google, goddamnit if you need one. The posts on Digg should give everyone something useful, not this "Check out this Ajax list" crap.
- donda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What you said is that the whole internet only need ONE GOOGLE, we don't need another diretory sites.
It does take time and efforts to compile a useful list! - thefirelane, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yup,
My sentiments exactly: http://www.digg.com/links/The_Top_10_Top_10_lists_on_Digg.com

- Jovan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You guys are battling over whether posting AJAX related things on digg is good or not...
*****, I am having a hard time getting past the fact that tutorials aren't in any sense "news".
I have an idea.. why don't we all just ***** google something when we need it? I think it's plausible, because we google for porn, google for games, google for other tutorials, google for just about anything, so why not AJAX? Hmm?
Oh, and if you haven't guessed already: nobody wants to hear about it, don't digg it and ***** off with ***** tutorials. - JOJOFACE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There's obviously demand for these types of tutorials. Don't like it? Then don't digg it.
- nessup, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's because of the stupid AJAX articles I've been seeing on digg, I am taking this bitch to war.
- fzammetti, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hehe, I pretty well *HAD* to digg it... my article is mentioned :) Also mentioned in the top 20 link the first post referenced. Guess I should go digg that too ;)
- brandizzle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1As much as AJAX is neat I really hope it doesn't become a new trend...
- Dotnetsky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Amen. AJAX, Schmajacks! Microsoft (yes, them BAAD guys) invented this last century (1998 - with Outlook Web Access) and it's properly referred to as "Remote Scripting". Damned Firefart and now even Internet Exploder 7 won't make remote scripting calls to anything except the same domain the page came from, the only way around it is on-demand javascript tags with JSON.
- pickatutorial, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0One cool Ajax tutorial collection is available here too
