- Bogtha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Spelling seemed okay, a couple of suggestions, though:
"that will be eventually updated as I catch more infos." => "which will be updated as I collect more information"
"You may want to..." is very overused. Vary it a little - "If you'd like to...", "To [do whatever], you add..."
"List took from" => "List taken from"
The example.com domain is reserved for examples - don't make up things like "mywebsite.net", because somebody invariably owns those domains. - apachehtaccess, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Thanks Vortexmind! just like askapache.com
- Grambo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ironically enough I was just working on exactly this subject yesterday and today. The only thing that this is missing is password protecting content via .htaccess. Good stuff.
- Vortexmind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Bogtha: so you suggest to eliminate the http:// part and leave only the domain information in the rule?
Anyway I'm fixing the article right now ... and adding the password thing! - Bogtha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This makes the same mistake 99% of referrer-blocking tutorials make. You only want to block the people with Referer headers that don't match your domain *if* they begin with 'http://'. You'll see plenty of Referer headers that read something like 'Hidden by [X] personal firewall'.
- Vortexmind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've added some new tweaks
- Vortexmind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, as I said I will update it time by time ... I will surely insert that subject ^^ thanks for the feedback. Another question ... is the spelling acceptable? I'm not english mother-language :D
- taswake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks good to me.
- Vortexmind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, don't worry ... I'm going to update it and add more information also about 2.0... if the site survives the digg effect ^^
- cakefart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0At the risk of introducing sanity here... the first thing anyone should learn is: Don't use it!
If you're stuck on a 1.3 server, well, OK. But there's no valid excuse for using it in 2.0.XX. - Lutz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0thanks man! this is just what I need.
- wolfstad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Does anyone know how you can point .htaccess at a php page to look up permalinks in a database, as Wordpress does?
- merlyn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ahh, the standard problem of "limiting the limits". Nearly every use of "LIMIT" is wrong, as it is here. Do not use LIMIT. It's not needed, and in fact, it's harmful. DO NOT LIMIT THE LIMITS.
It's amazing how many times this cargo-culting gets repeated. - Vortexmind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thanks for the feedback. Tomorrow I will fix all :D (it's late here ... I have to wake up early!)
Sorry for the typos but I'm italian and I make some mistakes ^^
Anyway I'm very grateful of all the feedback, It will help me better develop my next articles. - boredzo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0#2 has a < where there should be a >.
#8 could have a link to http://no-www.org . - dhughes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0" trought " ?
- Lutz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0cakefart, care to elaborate on that?
- dhughes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0 Considering you're a native Italian speaker the only thing that really through me off was "trought", I didn't know what you meant.
Really it wasn't bad for typos and grammar, I've seen worse from people who only speak English. - Vortexmind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For those who asked, I've added also a mod_rewrite tutorial

People on digg are brutal. - BinaryJay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Considering you're a native Italian speaker the only thing that really through me off was "trought", I didn't know what you meant."
Such as your own? What threw me off about your comment was what "through" you off. - Vortexmind, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0If you have any comments, you can leave them here or on my website I will GREATLY appreciate them
- eNthem, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I'm lovin it, nice find!
