- xuanyan, on 10/28/2007, -5/+287Wow, Mario's going crazy now that this hit the front page!
- Mizzike, on 10/24/2007, -3/+185if a mario jumps and hits a coin box while nobody is watching... does it make a sound?
- gavanw, on 10/24/2007, -5/+168I could see a lot more styles being developed for this...
- gavanw, on 10/24/2007, -1/+108Hehe, I just noticed it plays the extra life sound every time it hits 100, 200, etc.
- Brkwtzandrew, on 11/06/2007, -2/+96What happens when a story gets buried?
- Bersy, on 10/24/2007, -4/+68'Eya Luigi, come-a help-a me, I'm-a getting a ***** headache!
- TritonX, on 10/23/2007, -4/+58Any sounds that comes from a website without user consent is BAD!!!!!
- inactive, on 10/24/2007, -7/+59Cool, but the concept can be easily abused... as I'm sure this article will be on the front page because of it.
- StaticRedux, on 10/15/2007, -2/+49Today a better 'Digg This' Button, tomorrow.... THE WORLD!!!
- magicmarc, on 10/24/2007, -4/+51Loved the noise on the 100th digg.
- dgblackout, on 10/11/2007, -1/+36that's because it's pretty much the first one like it.
- mrkmrk, on 11/06/2007, -1/+33You get that little death noise.
- MatthewBlack, on 10/11/2007, -2/+32Had my speakers turned right up, almost gave me a heart attack. Cool for about 4 seconds, then ultra-annoying
- gbenitt, on 10/11/2007, -3/+28Did you guys hear the sound effect when it increments by 100? Looks like that gets Mario an extra life! Very cool...
- ReinMasamuri, on 10/11/2007, -4/+28The only think that I dislike about it is the use of flash.
Otherwise it's kinda cool ^_^ - vdxc, on 09/29/2008, -1/+19No. Digg is a user centric site, not a Kevin Rose fansite.
- resplence, on 10/11/2007, -2/+19Get a blog.
- antiver, on 10/29/2007, -2/+18digg people DIGG!
(pardon me, but I'm addicted) - dh89, on 10/11/2007, -7/+20Wow, that's annoying
- doronster195, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12This has gotten a lot of diggs and will get even more just because people click the Digg It button to see what happens.
- KiSA, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11um, dude... that's why the thing was made: real time, no refreshes needed.
- TPrime, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10I feel duped into digging this story.
- drafhk, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11He's getting quite a work out.
- haleym, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Indeed - this could lead to situations where inferior content is getting dugg just because there's a flashy digg button attached - pretty cool in this case, but let's just hope it doesn't get abused.
- AlMightyBob90, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10That's an interesting point you make there.
- Adamacus, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12Not in Safari...
- Hindu_Wardrobe, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11Mario hits the block with his fist, not his head
- mattprice, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10And the sound on the example is slightly annoying while trying to read the article.
- eternalinsomnia, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9A turtle comes out at hits mario
- AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -1/+9The bugs in the forest are probably too busy making more noise to cover up the noise of Mario...
- GhostWithToast, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8very cool! a popular blog would sound like a casino though. a more subtle sound solution would make this awesome.
- frozensun, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10I hardly ever digg anything, but i did this one just to see him jump. I imagine if other like me do this, is could get many diggs.
- randomgeek, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7This is really nice. I think the jumping Mario and sound effects are a little much (cool for a proof of concept though), but I've always sort of wondered why a Digg This! button didn't have the same functionality as the button on the site itself. It doesn't make sense to be taken away from the page you're looking at just to digg it.
- PureRED, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9Nifty. All sorts of stuff could be done with this.
- TastyLamp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Duh. Silverlight.
/sarcasm - smackhero, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7yea, aside for streaming music or videos i don't like sites that make lots of noise--they shouldn't make any IMO. i keep multiple tabs open at all times, and it's annoying trying to figure out which site has a stupid flash ad or GUI that's making noises.
- Jotaro, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Pretty clever. Even has a 1up sound when it passes a multiple of 100.
- bmfiii, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5plus it about scared the ***** out of me.
- ssavoy, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7more myths anyone?
"Every time you digg a story, Mario jumps for coins!" - carl201167, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4It's a good story, but it's probably getting more Diggs than it would normally warrant with people not necessarily intending to digg the story, but just trying the button out.
- kingkilr, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Another way to do this would be to use prototype.js(or another framework) and jsut make a div with the digg button, and have a Ajax.PeriodicalUpdater update it every 15 secs(or however long)
- essjay, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Definitely more creative. I don't think I would call it "better" though. There's an awfull lot wrong with it (Bandwidth, copyright infringement, sound that makes you want to rip out your ear drums...) while there's very little wrong with the current digg button. This one is also more than a little reminiscent of the download screen on the wii shopping channel.
- someone1489, on 10/29/2007, -0/+4tricked me in to digging it.....
- TastyLamp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Sorta like that one where you digg the story and it reveals a part of a picture.
- PRlME, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5whats wrong with flash? how else would u be able to do it?
- fullphaser, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4somewhat agreed, the noise would get to be annoying after a while.
- Cwo655321, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3sometimes it hard to tell the difference
- TastyLamp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3You know I've never noticed that before.
- spudnic, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Yeah please do, it'd be much easier for me to not read
- stuckinOK06, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Cute, but my cat was much more impressed than I was. The sound woke him up & he jumped at the screen.

What is Digg?
