- cozinator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Any good developer knows not to reinvent the wheel unless it's absolutely necessary. Why do you think open source is so popular?
- TreasureChest, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11"You are NOT allowed to repost or redistribute a script for download in another script library. "
Plunder.com isn't a script library. - DHTMLdev, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Click "Demo"
- TreasureChest, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Welcome to the Internet :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I'm sure you meant "welcome to my site plunder.com, where I steal people's ***** and put ads around it".
- jason2584, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"Someone at plunder.com are..."
Someone at digg.com are not able to conjugate verbs. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Oh come on ... what could you possibly have against plunder.com taking someone else's work and putting ads all around it? ;)
- lstatezny, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7no its not but read again
Examples of NOT acceptable use
* Download a zip file(script) and make it available for download at another site. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3lol @ pulling the link after I made the note about AdSense and copyright material. I already shot them a complaint and screenshot. : )
- rYno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2the only applicable thing I could see using this for is on a Shopping Cart category listing in the admin panel... Other than that I don't see a use for it?
Nicely done however. - DHTMLdev, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I think the ability to drag and drop nodes in the tree is the main feature of this script. Ajax is only used when you save the new tree structure.
- muffinmanpoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://www.dhtmlgoodies.com/scripts/drag-drop-folder-tree/drag-drop-folder-tree.html
- siggyfawn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2having a save button sorta ruins the whole "ajax" part. the idea is interaction with the web page. requiring them to click a button to save sorta defeats it.
- Mjjoood, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yahoo Mail Beta could probably make use of this for the folders panel (left frame)... Currently, you can't drag a folder to another folder as you would do in Outlook/Thunderbird.
- angrychimp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'm planning on using it for assigning certain objects to different containers on my own web app. Essentially, I can take a particular domain name (a CNAME to my primary domain) and drag it into a folder corresponding to a particular database cluster. The AJAX part will update my application config so that each domain connects to the correct database cluster based on the container it's in.
There are so many other usages I can picture. Especiialy if you can have multiple trees up at one time and drag objects between the trees. - BillyG123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1nothing new here, I've seen several DHTML sites that do this
besides, it doesn't even validate, no thx - noseeme, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yes, it's cool, but it might have been made to be a proof of concept.
- jleblanc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What use does this actually have without a server call to save the changes you've made. The only use I can think of without a server call is playing with it for amusements sake...
....And it isnt that amusing. - olegk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is not AJAX, this is just DTHML
- mos6507, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why have it post every update on every change to the tree? Let someone fiddle with it and then commit changes to the db.
- DHTMLdev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You can save the changes by clicking on the "Save" button. As mentioned in the demo, changes aren't saved there(i.e. disabled) because they want the tree to look the same for all users. All you have to do is to configure the db queries in the file called by the save function.
- jleblanc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Good Point v3xt0r. This type of javascript heavy effects has been around long before the Ajax rush. DHTML was pretty much just Jax (or jah rather- javascript and HTML). DHTML rarely worked cross browser, had heavy overhead, and javascript was frequently disabled by end users.
Remember, Back when web applications were written in Java..... - moke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0One thing that I don't understand is ... why the hell would you want to have something like click and drag and not be able to save the order... yeah I'm ready to have my site packed with this little gadget, so they can spend few minutes sorting their menus, and once refreshed loose it all.
Same goes with the multi-sort drag and drop list from script.aculo.us. - crimsontwo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this is DHTML + AJAX (the "save" feature).

- dSlifer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1No digg... I wanna see an example of it at work before I think its cool
- v3xt0r, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5it's like 1999 all over again *except that browsers can now understand the code, arguably)
- j3one, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1yes I do believe its called a "mirror"...
relax TC... - tzmguitarist, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2This is helpful because I can't sit around and wait for Apache to deliver its all-text menus. I mean, seriously - why should I actually have to link to another page and display directory content (sans-gradients and ajax) when I could make a million pointless server calls!!!!
Does this really accomplish anything? - jiminoc, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3any dipship that says "WOOT" gets auto dugg down
- rheaghen, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1how is this cool.. DoJo had this maybe 6 months ago... checkout dojotoolkit.com, see lots of Great and simple to implement AJAX solutions.
- nudedave, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1I Digg that!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+4Nice spam. : )
- Buttercup, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Are you saying that you often scour google to find code to do what you want instead of writing it yourself? i donno about other people, but thats not how i "program"
- haigMeister, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1Sorry for the double post but the Dynamic Drive homepage has been on the front page before, I believe. It's not like all their things are new to us. And if you're a web developer that's ever used google, you've probably found this too. :P
- awhiteflame, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2In other news, a complete AJAX operating system has been built! WOOT!
- DHTMLdev, on 10/12/2007, -18/+9hmmm.
Someone at plunder.com are breaking the software license.:
