- ocha, on 11/12/2007, -4/+47I hate when people say "the title says it all."
So lazy. - mikebeauchamp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+31How about 20,000 -LEGAL- electronic books?
http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Main_Page
Project Gutenberg to the rescue... they have DVD images you can burn and distribute freely that contain thousands and thousands of ebooks that are all legal. Very very very cool.. I saw the guy who started this speak and he was very passionate about spreading the equivalent of a library on a DVD to people all around the world who may not have access to these books otherwise. - sinooka, on 10/12/2007, -1/+32since the title says it all, I won't bother to follow the link..
- rshah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+31NO! NO! NO! The Title does NOT say it all! there are only 951... ;-)
- titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20Here, here! Tis' a time of holidays and I have taken the liberty of letting you go this time without feeling the dreadful wrath of my lawyers. be thankful it's the Holiday Season.
That is all. - dhuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14exactly - way to waste the desc space. you know, it's there for a reason.
here's a few tips - give some freakin titles or subjects of the ebooks available. are they programming books? fiction? written in russian? erotic fiction? - titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11My comment was directed towards the submitter.
- Battlecry, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Shhh... The queues are long enough as it is in there.
- ahawks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Especially considering the title doesnt mention what format of ebook they are. Or the genre of book (all i saw were tech/programming related).
ebooks are pretty lame. - Sumyunguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6ummm...by nature aren't all ebooks downloadable? I would think the number would more in the tens of thousands?
/me thinks you forgot the word FREE somewhere in there.

- Stonekeeper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Is there a downloadable gutenberg search front end? I was thinking about the possibility of setting something like this up in the college library.
- grawity, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4you mean downThemAll?
http://downthemall.net - icky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Don't get too excited. Most of the books are old. I downloaded a dozen different O'Reilly titles and all of them were from prior to 2000. I own a lot of O'Reilly books but would like to have a searchable version on the PC too. No luck here. The Microsoft Active Directory book is 4 years old - a tad too old to be really useful. The rest of it is dumb "how_to_hack_stuff.txt" files which aren't anything beyond what you could find in a quick Google search. Oh well, perhaps some will find it useful just cuz it's all in one place.
- haydesigner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Lame. Sorry, but your blog is just lame.
- ishmal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Sorry, any sites with redirects/traps in them, are off my list. ^^
- Philoushka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Does anyone have a good .chm to text converter? Yes, I tried all the search engines, and 45 mins later, there is little freeware to be found...

you'll have to pardon my French but BOY AREN'T YOU A PRETENTIOUS LITTLE ****
Project Guttenburg is a great idea and although they are text files, they deliver on the content. - freff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No they are not all illegal, moron.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Use Google to find Ebooks..e.g. to find all linux ebooks use this query -inurl:htm -inurl:asp -inurl:html (“index of”|"last modified"|"parent of") ("ebook"|"ebooks"|"book"|"books") (pdf|chm|doc|txt|zip|rar) "linux"
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Finally a copy of "Linux 2.4 Internals" I can afford. Do they have the AmigaOS reference manuals available?
- MasteRR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2chm should be readable on Windows by default, and is actually a pretty good format for books. Makes browsing chapters a breeze.
Now if you need a way to read them on a non-Windows OS, there is xchm. - Sil369, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Try ChmMagic - convert chm to pdf :)
- MagicBobert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Firefox Extension: DownloadThemAll!

- icky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dugg down because you're a moron for posting a link to a page about creationism as a follow up to a post about computer books.
- Brog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not sure why anchorman was dugg down... The link is experiencing the "digg" effect for some of us...
- bigwyrm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You say something asinine, and let the world digg down for you.
- MVP6100, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great listing but how is this legal?

the title says it all. - YellowBook, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1... shame it's a .chm file and not PDF
- proficient, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Site is down. :/
- prototypeangel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1how much longer before this site runs out of bandwidth. IT's been dugg for gods' sakes.
- shahidsidd, on 02/09/2008, -0/+0Ya for more books you can also download them fro free from http://ebooks.mzwriter.com/
- bigwyrm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Nothing says that an ebook needs to have an ink-on-dead-tree counterpart. Sure, most are conversions from the paper variety, but many ebooks are written expressly as such.
