- ashika, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10$man cron
*gasp* my computer already contains thousands of linux programming texts and tutorials!
Seriously, learn to read man pages and let the web do what it was built for - delivering pornography. - hackwrench, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Clicked on Cron then Cron Tutorial, and the site it goes to has been replaced with a link farm. Don't know how many links on this site are "dead".
The second Cron site is dead too. - kokorhekkus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Admirable idea. But this seems to be an old list since I didn't find anything that was added later than 2003. And that means you risk (unless you count on the writers of the pages) to land on some out-of-date tutorial for an older version which will just turn some people off linux or just make them pissed off at digg. So: good idea but shouldn't have been frontpage material without a substantial warning if at all.
- rippofunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Very old info, the newest stuff is 3yrs old, its like having text and tutorials on win98. And a couple of links I clicked on were dead, which makes sense since some links date back to `96.
Buried. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Don't click on the main link for RSYNC, because it points to www.rsync.org which just has links on it for xanax and other spam related links....
- GeoNine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Hella dead links, 4 out the 6 python links are dead or rerouted. There has to be some good stuff in there though.
- BrainCoder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Very useful! I hope this will help some programmers to switch from Windows to Linux. Programming on *NIX is a lot funnier than coding on Windows!
- itistoday, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Great site! It's too bad many of them are dead links. He should run some sort of utility on that list to remove the 404'd ones.
- ArcOrion, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Wow, what a surprise! A study of Linux devs shows that they expect to develop for Linux!
- jfreeman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I found the resources on some things, like assembly or vi, to be timeless, so this is a pretty good find. And it's an A&M prof, whoop.
- DarthFredd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I don't suppose any of you have heard of the linux documentation project?
www.tldp.org - schestowitz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5According to a /very/ recent survey, devs fully agree.
Study: Developers Favor Linux
,----[ Quote ]
| "Regardless of what kind of developer you are, you're still trying to
| make a living, and target the operating system that?s controlling the
| market."
|
| However, in the most recent survey, the developers' forecast of their
| target platform has changed. For the first time, these developers said
| that in the next 12 to 18 months they expect to be developing more Linux
| apps than Windows apps.

- amikael999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very nice list ... Just add to my reading list of thousands of so called free books, here is the one claimed " Massive 5000 "... :-(
http://digg.com/programming/Massive_List_Of_5000_Programming_Computer_Internet_Books_-_For_Free_ - ashika, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the slackware prompt has all those weird/uplifting quotes- they're kinda funny.
- monsterb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A little dated, but very useful. I digg it!
- mbiesz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Heh, the ancient Google logo makes a nice touch. It does give the right idea, though: what's the point of these gigantic lists if you can Google "perl tutorial" or "python reference"?
- tnitti, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is a great resource.
- comendolixo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0nice 403
- NTolerance, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Jefe, would you say I have a plethora of tutorials?
- amikael9999, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Well, not a bad one, but where is the search?
Google tells you which one is the best:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=computer+books&btnG=Search
And Yahoo tells you too:

- aragon127, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Is there an Ubuntu version
