- Jektal, on 05/01/2009, -0/+9w3schools makes things pretty clear and easy...
- nourayehia, on 05/01/2009, -1/+9Didn't know about few of these before. The perspective tabs looks very clean. Thanks for sharing :)
- brianatlarge, on 05/01/2009, -0/+7Another example of how the use of Flash for website interaction is often unnecessary.
- xCIone, on 05/01/2009, -1/+6Nice list indeed.These are very useful.
- Iexist08, on 05/02/2009, -0/+3did not you notice the warning beginning of the post?
- annjay, on 05/01/2009, -1/+4Few of them are really useful and new for me...
- inkswamp, on 05/01/2009, -0/+321. Write your own code.
I see so many canned javascript tips roll through the front page nowadays like that's big news or something. It makes me wonder if anybody writes their own code to do these things anymore. You know, it's not actually that hard. Javascript isn't exactly the most demanding development environment around. - sotonin, on 05/01/2009, -0/+3Not having a browser thats capable of javascript == more FAIL than relying on javascript for navigation
- Chickenlip, on 05/01/2009, -0/+3I wouldn't really call those "javascript" tips, more like framework implementations ...
A javascript tip would be something like
Instead of iterating over a collection to create a concatenated string:
for (i in items) {
str += items[i] + ' '; // will also cause trailing whitespace
}
Use the instance method join() from the Array object:
str += items.join(' '); - canreacchio, on 05/01/2009, -0/+3Wow not one person complaining that this doesnt work with noscript.... im surpirsed.
- 7m7uf, on 05/01/2009, -0/+2You won't learn JS with these Tuts. W3Schools is a good site, i'd give it a second or third chance. I also recommend JavaScript for the World Wide Web (Visual QuickStart Guide). That book was my bible when learning javascript. ISBN: 032119439X
- Hagsy, on 05/12/2009, -0/+1Great List - Will come in very handy indeed - Thanks
- anaxa, on 05/16/2009, -0/+1I'll assume you know what you're talking about -- because I don't.
Also:
I wouldn't call them tips either, I'd say something like, "...JavaScript Navigation Techniques and Examples" -- kind of like the title. - kahn2001, on 05/09/2009, -0/+1It's true what he says, why did him down? so screw people that have javascript off for security reasons?
- Nicoon, on 05/02/2009, -0/+1I doubt it's a matter of the browser not being capable but rather the user choosing to turn it off due to security concerns.
- crocodilu2008, on 05/08/2009, -0/+1A must to see JAVASCRIPT DHTML TUTORIALS » GUI Components
Somthing more profi about JAVASCRIPT - http://www.navioo.com/javascript/dhtml/GUI_Compone ... - pbs11, on 09/25/2009, -0/+0I believe tutorials like these should be shown as videos and not as text.
http://www.artworkshops.tv/ - DougP1, on 05/01/2009, -0/+0They look like some pretty sophisticated tools; thanks!
- MrContent, on 05/01/2009, -1/+1"JavaScript-powered" hahahha nice one :)
- darkane, on 05/01/2009, -3/+2If you have a website and think anybody cares about your animated menu, you have already failed.
- Pakman20, on 05/01/2009, -2/+1"Error establishing a database connection" <-- wow did Six Revisions just get the digg effect?
or maybe its the web design gods punishing them for using JS for navigation... - Jektal, on 05/01/2009, -5/+4Reliance on JavaScript for navigation == FAIL.
If it falls back on a CSS solution, sure, fine. But otherwise? Get that stuff off the internet before you hurt yourself. - teabagginz, on 05/01/2009, -4/+2Trust not in the dark side of the force.
- jggube, on 05/01/2009, -5/+2That's just mean.
- Wiini, on 05/01/2009, -7/+2.... The system is down. The system is down. The system is down.
- arcticsoft, on 05/01/2009, -9/+3Getting javascript to display that database error is pretty tricky!
- SaudiMichael, on 05/01/2009, -10/+1I hope these tutorials will be easier than the ones at W3schools. I just cant learn JS there.
- cyrusuncc, on 05/01/2009, -11/+1This is the best xkcd ever!
wait...
