- Duvie, on 10/27/2008, -16/+519Congratulations to these workers. Thank you for standing up for what you believe is right and refusing to do what you clearly see as wrong. Hats off to you!
- sjnorth, on 10/27/2008, -12/+313This is a revolution by people of conscience, and it makes me proud to be an American. These workers know that Obama and the Democrats are the ones fighting for them, not McCain and Palin, whose plans only will help the wealthy and well-connected. Way to reject the politics of fear!!
- writerswrite, on 10/27/2008, -16/+285THANK YOU to those who stood up and walked out. You give me hope.
- audiored, on 10/27/2008, -15/+242"I ask you to believe – not just in my ability to bring about change, but in yours." -Barack Obama in Canton, Ohio
- magus_melchior, on 10/27/2008, -6/+200They chose to forsake a job to preserve their integrity. Is there any way we can repay the favor?
- judybrowni, on 10/27/2008, -7/+164I've worked as a telemarketer, and only because I was completely broke.
If 40 walked out, that's courage. Telemarketing may be the only jobs available in that area, and the pay isn't much, so to lose any is a hardship. - virtualval2001, on 10/27/2008, -4/+121*applause*
That's bravery. That's commitment. I only hope they are able to find decent work elsewhere. - DancingAngels, on 10/27/2008, -6/+99I smell change in the air....
- sjnorth, on 10/27/2008, -0/+83Yes. Not be lazy, not take this election for granted. Get on the phone; hit the pavement; make November 4th a big win for the good guys!
- Deleuzional, on 10/27/2008, -4/+77People who don't blindly do what they're told for minimum wage? What's next, peace in our time?
- geez53, on 10/27/2008, -5/+75According to some, "Real Americans" would have stayed on the job to spew hatred and division in return for a few pieces of silver. This American veteran says the workers did the right thing in walking out, it's one of the reasons i volunteered to wear a military uniform ( and back then, we had to starch our fatigues, not this sissy BDU stuff ;} ).
- judybrowni, on 10/27/2008, -14/+83"If only our soldiers serving in Iraq COULD (would) do the same thing."
Difficult to walk out of Iraq. But suicides are up, which may feel like the only out to military kept in Iraq against their will (and ours.) - jasoninoakland, on 10/27/2008, -5/+70It's really heartening to read this. I was already an Obama supporter, but now I'm a supporter of 40 people in Indiana who didn't sell out their values.
- theutopian, on 10/28/2008, -6/+70Obama doesn't need a call center.
He doesn't have to pay people to spread his message like this. He has millions of volunteers doing it for him.
That's change.
I can't believe the Republicans have to hire ***** telemarketers.
Kudos to these people. - oldgraygeek, on 10/27/2008, -7/+61Wonderful that they stood up against Republican lies...
Now, if only every other telemarketer on God's gray Earth would to the same... maybe I could get a frickin nap. - Autodidaddict, on 10/28/2008, -5/+57Americall Group Inc

I live about half a mile away from here. I think we should call them this week. Above is their phone number. - lapdogs, on 10/27/2008, -6/+57It's great to see some people have a conscience and will not stoop to gutter politics.
- magus_melchior, on 10/27/2008, -7/+57They're bound by duty and the command structure of the US military. I don't want to see our troops shot for deserting.
- TheSkunkMonkey, on 10/27/2008, -7/+55Three dozen patriots standing up for what's good about America.
Very refreshing. - winstonsmith303, on 10/28/2008, -3/+45I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!
- magus_melchior, on 10/27/2008, -1/+43@sjnorth: Yes, that's one way, but I meant in a more practical sense-- can we, for example, set up a small fund to help these people out? Some of these no doubt needed this job to support themselves or their family, yet they gave that up.
- Arishia, on 10/27/2008, -5/+44This is such good news. I send my heartfelt thanks to those workers that acted on their conscience. Well done.
- qdkk, on 10/28/2008, -8/+46Republicans need to realize that people of this country have integrity and will not blindly recite lies. This makes me feel proud of America, again.
- feduphoosier, on 10/27/2008, -5/+41This state has been hit very hard by the economic downswing. Many factory jobs have left the state, and people are really struggling. But Hoosiers are basically hard-working, decent and friendly to a fault. The values of honor - and respecting others - aren't negotiable. There is a huge difference between Indiana Republican... and Neocon. (Something the Neocons are going to be finding out in another week...)
- sockpuppets, on 10/28/2008, -5/+41If stupidity powered the force you'd be a jedi master.
- yelaina, on 10/28/2008, -3/+38That was brave. I'm also quite sure that these people could ill-afford to lose the day's pay (I worked in a call center before my current job), but they were willing to do so instead of reading lies to people. I'm seriously impressed.
- mt330404, on 10/28/2008, -4/+39I used to work at a phone survey place in Ohio, they wanted us to conduct an OBVIOUS push poll that was supporting a statewide proposal that would ban smoking in all public places, restaurants, etc. Not that I was against the proposal, but it was a slimy and unethical way to push people into supporting the smoking ban. I got up and walked off the job, told my supervisor why I was doing it and he didn't try to stop me. I have no regrets for walking off either, I stood up for what was right and so did these people in Indiana.
I SUPPORT YOU GUYS! - lompe, on 10/27/2008, -9/+42
Change is coming to town.
Obama/Biden '08 - Modulo, on 10/28/2008, -3/+35I would vote for Obama if I was American, because my parents and teachers brainwashed me to think for myself. As for you? Garbage In, Garbage Out sums it up nicely.
- TheMachine1, on 10/27/2008, -6/+38The people are telling "The Man" hell no.
- sjnorth, on 10/27/2008, -5/+37You demean the victims of the Holocaust with this comment. I presume you don't know enough about history to understand how sickening this statement is. Indeed, your ignorance and your insensitivity are both astounding.
- sockpuppets, on 10/28/2008, -0/+32Do it in a robot voice when you call.
- inactive, on 10/28/2008, -4/+35Rednecks like nmanguy will destroy America
- mrjoe, on 10/27/2008, -10/+41Just goes to prove that even some Republicans have a level beneath which they will not sink. Too bad they're by far the minority in their party..
- jilikins, on 10/27/2008, -5/+36 Americans, as a whole, are SO sick of the slime and sleaze we've seen in these times and these wonderful workers walking out is proof of that. Slime SHOULDN'T work, and I hope with ALL my heart that it doesn't work anymore. There are enough issues to talk about without descending to the mud pits. God bless our military, God bless our country, AND God bless and keep safe, Obama, Biden and his family.
- ruarctb, on 10/28/2008, -1/+31@ nmanguy....
Maybe they believe what Obama stands for. Mayber they like his ideas. Maybe they see the Obama's rise from the lower socioeconomic class to on the cusp of America's most powerful position as an inspirational story of what America has stood for for two centuries. Maybe they're just pissed off.
Its nothing about party and more about who people are and what kind of character they have. - lebondarken, on 10/28/2008, -3/+31Like we are any different? Who were you programed by?
- Echota, on 01/05/2009, -2/+29And this is the kind of people that make America Great!
Standing up for what is right! - wolferz, on 10/28/2008, -3/+29FTA "being "dangerously weak on crime," "coddling criminals," and for voting against "protecting children from danger.""
He probably has
...but that's not why he voted the way he did. I'll imagine he voted the way he did because he was voting AGAINST something else that was attached to the bill. Thats why ***** like that gets attached to bills so when they vote against or for it the other side can wave it around in their next smear campaign. It also happens to work because of the very same people who are reading this and running their mouth about how evil McCain is for doing something so underhanded (...that every politician does it including Obama).
The very same people who are going to bury me because they read the first three words of my comment and assumed I was anti-Obama. - chaosium, on 10/28/2008, -2/+27"How the hell can you say you will be proud of America voting for Obama without lying? You care absolutely nothing about the candidates, just the party"
No, we care about the ISSUES and integrity, both of which aren't McCain's strong suit. He's a seventy year old entitled brat who failed continuously and progressed under the name of his father and grandfather. - ironhide, on 10/28/2008, -2/+27Now, I wonder why only the right-wing refers to Obama as "messiah" or "The Chosen One" the rest of us just think he's a qualified politician.
- JenniferInMO, on 10/28/2008, -4/+29There are people standing up all over the country and it is the people in these red states who are the most exposed. People in deep rural red areas who stand out as Obama supporters are being threatened and their businesses shunned. Check out these brave people then help by doing some of the things suggested in this post: http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Local_Voices_Ads ...
Do your part as an American and stand up for these people. Vote early then volunteer to call and canvass every day and on Election Day. - cg4et, on 10/27/2008, -7/+31I hope I would have the courage to do the same if I were in the same situation. It's tough to give up a job in this economy. I hope they are rewarded with better jobs.
- JumpingJack79, on 10/27/2008, -1/+25Yes, Obama's saying what the masses want to hear (which is really the purpose of campaigning), as opposed to McCain who has no ideas other than smearing Obama. Who you think people are gonna vote for? The angry old smear guy?
As about invading, well, I don't know which one of the two would be more trigger-happy, but I'd put my money on the one who sang "bomb bomb bomb Iran" and happily supported most US invasions. - uncajoe, on 10/28/2008, -6/+28The wingnutz will spin this into -
"John McCain's policies are already creating new job opportunities!" - publiclurker, on 10/28/2008, -1/+22You forgot to add that he's a black Muslim black guy who black minister hates non blacks.
- Visual77, on 10/28/2008, -3/+24JumpingJack79 - It's only socialism when the government forcefully takes your money and gives it to others. If you willingly do it, it is altruism, and one of the core tenets of libertarianism - that the individual should, at all times, be in control of his own money and make all decisions regarding that money.
- ggidetahi, on 10/27/2008, -1/+22the penalty for walking off the job is getting fired. the penalty for deserting in Iraq is death.
http://usmilitary.about.com/od/punitivearticles/a/ ... - venicerocco, on 10/27/2008, -0/+20No, it's definitely change.
