Damaging McCain Comments Missing from FOX News Transcript

jedreport.com — Three months ago, John McCain told Sean Hannity that he "really didn't love America" until became a POW. FOX has scrubbed that part of the interview from their official transcript on their website.

I think the lack of pride in some (probably many) Americans helps to drive positive change. I agree that the statement Mrs. Obama made was poorly conceived, but I do not agree that it implies she is an ingrate, or a 'bad' citizen, nor do I think it reflects anything about her status as a privileged upper-class woman.

        It's also possible that we need to empathize a little more given she's a black woman. She may have experienced a great deal of what our country offers in the form of institutionalized racism and sexism, and it may have impacted her ability to feel nationalistic at all.

        If you do believe that pride is a necessary attribute in a 'good' citizen, you should applaud her finding her pride now, even if it took longer than you feel it should have.

      Obama will win because he has the love and support of the people. That is the difference between McCain and Obama. Obama wants change, he seems to genuinely care about his country, and he makes me proud to BE an american, truly. He inspires me. McCain just makes me want to run to a corner and cry...lol

      I worry that Obama will try and turn us in to a nanny state. This is concerning. However, I see him as an honest man, and I truly believe he wants what's best for his country, for his people. For that reason alone, I would stand by any decision he makes.

      McCain is the guy who supports the rich citizens of this country. I have nothing else to say...about McCain..>.<

        She said it (at least) twice. The first time she said "For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country" (unknown time supposedly in the morning, 2/18/08), the second time she said "For the first time in my adult lifetime, I'm really proud of my country." (4:13 ET, 2/18/08)

        Whether the change of words has any implications or whether the choice by media outlets to favor one version over the other has implications, I'll leave to you.

It has been instrumental in the conservative shift in the US media. Fox News specifically was created to counter CNN which was at the time much more objective than it is today.

      Once I began to see things in these clear terms several years ago, I began to systematically disengage from people whom I know to watch Fox News, even if I otherwise had no problem with them, to marginalize their economic and societal relevance, in my own small way (which adds up if a lot of people do it). For instance, I probably get 3-4 emails a month from friends looking for a vendor or to fill an executive role in their company, etc. Do I ever pass along the names of the Fox people? Never. So now they suffer from one of the most brilliant forms of discrimination: the kind they don't even know affects them. They don't even know they've been passed over. I see them as dangerous and needing to have their economic and societal influence clipped.

As far as I can tell it just means he didn't appreciate America when he was young, but being a POW changed his perspective (the implication being changed for the better).

    Also I think that Michelle Obama didn't mean exactly what she said. I think she meant that her pride was revitalized, but just worded it wrong. Even if not, she did say "in my adult lifetime", which means that she could have seen the country fall into a slump that it is just coming out of.

    But regardless I think that the bickering here is petty.

    This allows them to spin and yet later claim it was all part of a rush that they never bothered to correct.

    Just remember that FNC is not a mouthpiece for all Republicans, just Bush and his Neo-con friends. True limited government Goldwater conservatives are treated with complete contempt.

McCain found appreciation for America in his service to it and Mrs. Obama found hers when the US served her interests. I am not sure why McCain or anyone else finds his comment to be worrisome at all. That he found a way to find captivity as a POW a positive thing seems to be good rather than bad. Michelle's comment was in need of explanation no doubt.
