- stinkymonkey, on 02/02/2008, -5/+50Every Special Comment Keith does helps me cope with the frustration I feel with this administration. That others do feel the way I do and I'm not alone. Thank you Keith.
- AlphaMack, on 09/26/2008, -5/+37Right on the money. If what the telecoms are doing is 'legal' according to BushCo and their GOP lapdogs, then why the need for immunity? It stinks.
- understudy, on 02/02/2008, -0/+18Special Comments like these are some of the best and most patriotic political commentaries I've seen on television. I know Olbermann gets a little flack from Ron Paul supporters (for conspicuously leaving him out of discussions and choosing instead to group all Republicans together), but moments like these should serve to pacify somewhat.
_ - HughManBeing, on 02/02/2008, -8/+25I'm ready for a Special Comment on the 9/11 Commission Report and the recent findings about how compromised that whole fiasco was. Thanks Keith and Keep it Up.

- Napoleone, on 02/02/2008, -2/+15Great comment. It's a shame we're being swindled by both Bush and the Democrats.
Democrats did NOT have to bring THIS bill forward. They could have chosen the one without retro-active immunity. They chose not to. They could have chosen the one without warrantless domestic spying. They chose not to.
Obama or Clinton are likely to become President of the United States. If they truly objected to this bill they could exert pressure on Harry Reid and have him table this unconstitutional bill immediately. They have shown no real leadership on this FISA bill at all, though. They're just looking for the political cover they will gain by claiming to be opposed to this measure.
If either of them get elected, do you think they'll have Congress revisit this issue and rescind this law? Don't count on it. They will not do that. If you think they will, call their campaigns. Ask them. Ask them to go on record saying that. But don't hold your breath. - inactive, on 02/02/2008, -0/+11Hey Keith- Just wanted to let you know that AT&T is already installing the monitoring devices and have been for months in Los Angeles. They do not give a ***** about anyone- which is painfully clear. This legislation must not pass! I have recorded conversations with AT&T workmen as well as video footage of them installing the monitoring boxes- Hell two of the idiots told me on tape they were monitoring all calls and internet connections!
Is it possible that AT&T is so huge and unbeatable they know this legislation will pass to protect them. I wonder if they realize the work they are doing right is a felony! Apparently they don't care because otherwise why would they do this without the immunity already in place. Obviously they know its going to pass. My question is are you a shill to quell the angry screams of a pissed of nation? Or are you going to actually do something about it?
Yup, I am putting this on digg as well as writing you directly. I am also writing to one of your biggest competitors. I want my question answered and action taken. I am sick and tired of all this talking. I do love your reports, but if nothing gets done what ***** good are they? - ubetchaiam, on 02/02/2008, -1/+11Third Way Democrats Block Attempt to Stop Immunity
Twelve Democrats broke with their party and joined Republicans by voting against the Senate Judiciary version of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act legislation on Thursday, January 24. The bill would have stripped out the retroactive immunity for telecoms.
The Judiciary bill was drafted after the Intelligence Committee version and was brought up as a substitute amendment. The Judiciary bill did not contain retroactive immunity for telecoms.
Five of the 12 Democratic senators who voted to kill the Judiciary bill are recognized by Third Way as "Honorary Senate Chairs". They are Sens. Evan Bayh (D-Indiana), Tom Carper (D-Delaware), Mark Pryor (D-Arkansas), Ken Salazar (D-Colorado) and Claire McCaskill (D-Missouri).
Out of a total of six "Honorary Senate Chairs" of Third Way, only Sen. Blanch Lincoln (D-Arkansas) voted with the majority of Democrats on the Judiciary bill.

- jfowler27, on 02/03/2008, -1/+6It's not about whether anyone cares what I'm saying. Would you like your neighbor to be listening to all of your conversations? Why would you want companies and/or the government listening in on everything? If you think it's keeping you safer, you're kidding yourself.
- nblsavage, on 02/02/2008, -0/+5The telecoms are bending over backwards because they want to be Ma Bell again, and this time no annoying anti-trust.

- toosinbeymen, on 02/02/2008, -3/+7The AG Mukasey / Senator Schumer / Rudy Giuliani connection is particularly interesting. I hope someone with access to detailed info investigates this. Was it campaign contributions from telecom companies that "helped" former good guy Chuck Schumer forget himself and promote the wrong side? Or the law firm that Michael Mukasey's son works for that got its hands dirty helping its clients which may be a conflict of interest?

- SquigglyP, on 02/02/2008, -0/+2the really scary bit in that article is the part where the father describes the conditions his son was in in the letter he sent. He was made to sign a document he wasn't allowed to read. The implications of such tactics are more frightening than just 'torture' for a question / answer session. They didn't ask any questions, but just made him sign stuff. What did he sign? A confession? A statement? And then they handed that to a group of people who were investigating the attacks? Highly suspect.
- inactive, on 02/02/2008, -2/+4Exactly. A big difference- its a pity this idiot doesn't understand English. Perhaps he should move to Europe where the political environment is more suitable to his limited understanding of what FREEDOM actually means. I am willing to donate miles!

After I heard this, I knew what that verse in Revelation meant now. "Babylon is fallen, is fallen."
I always wondered what this meant. Why it was stated twice. Now I know.
So, people be on the look out for more tricks of deception and other evil acts AGAINST us. The normal, working people, including the poor and disabled.

- Herrold, on 02/03/2008, -3/+1Didn't this guy do sports casting? How does anyone take what this guy says seriously when he has a segment on his show entitled "Worst Person in the World"? That pretty much describes what sort of sensationalist news show it is. Its like the Enquirer but on TV.
- inactive, on 02/02/2008, -6/+3No telecom would in the future willingly offer the government help in protecting the US if they believed they would be sued or face legal action of any sort. So yeah immunity makes sense. Stop crying people. This stuff happens all over leftist Europe and the world. Tapping phones is a universal norm in Europe and other continents. You sure as hell wont have Europe saying something about it because they tap phones themselves. Europeans know they do and don't care. Seriously nobody cares about your life or your phone conversations. So stop deluding yourself.
- DeadlyAlpaca, on 02/02/2008, -4/+0Keith Olbermann is my speaking idol. Somewhat fitting that I can't think of the correct term to replace 'speaking'
- inactive, on 02/02/2008, -6/+2actually the word is deluded. happy? love how people discount whole comments because one word. The message is sound. You have no rebuttal just spell check. nice.
