- buttfayce, on 10/15/2007, -13/+179just tell your kids to have oral or butt sex until they're married.
- Frei, on 10/22/2007, -6/+118Wait, the Bush administration is out of touch with reality?
- inactive, on 10/20/2007, -17/+129the average age for first marriage for men in the US is 27
the average age for first marriage for women in the US is 25
the overall average age for first marriage for Americans is 26
Does that stupid bastard GWB think that people are going to abstain until the age of 25? more idiotic conservative "thinking" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_at_first_marriage ... - Sarki, on 10/10/2007, -5/+81The problem is that people are biologically programmed to have sex. Any solution that flies in the face of this isn't a solution, it's dreaming.
- inactive, on 10/19/2007, -14/+84And they give a ***** load of money to states that teach this crap. Sex is great kids go crazy, just wear a rubber.
- MadKennyP, on 10/10/2007, -6/+75Abstinence only education doesn't work. Bush already proved it in Texas.
"Through a combination of less sex and more contraception, pregnancy and birth rates among American teenagers as a whole have been falling since about 1991. Texas, however, has seen the smallest decline despite receiving almost $17 million in the name of virginity."
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/18/education/18abst ... - MadKennyP, on 10/11/2007, -6/+63In those places where abstinence only education is in place, teen pregnancies GO UP. But, if we teach children to remain abstinent AND, if they choose to have sex anyway, how to practice safe sex, teen pregnancies GO DOWN.
The fact is, abstinence ONLY doesn't work. The results prove that fact. Not teaching kids about how to practice safe sex is ignorant and foolhardy. - thewump, on 10/20/2007, -5/+49Parents, if you make sex taboo for your kids and they don't have sex for YOUR reasons, then they are going to ***** like rabbits as soon as they leave home. Ditto for alcohol.

I saw this recently. It shows how the Jesus freaks pulling the strings at the White House promoted abstinence instead of condoms in Uganda. Once they stopped using condoms the aids rate sky rocketed. Culture of life, huh? - DrDigg, on 10/20/2007, -5/+44I'd love someone to ask Bush if he waited until he was married to have sex. Said yes to drugs and alcohol, but no to sex...right.
- ScornedPatriot, on 10/11/2007, -5/+39Yes, let's waste another billion dollars on some hair-brained, half thought out, attempt at shoving morality down someone else's throat! The numbers show, when you teach abstinence the occurrence of STDs and Anal/Oral sex go up, because like the Baptists say it's not sex unless there is vaginal penetration.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -5/+30It isn't that abstaining is a bad idea, it's that the government has no business telling people how to raise their kids.
- RollFizzlebeef, on 10/12/2007, -3/+28I absolutely agree that religious people should not have sex, especially for procreation.
- MarkCiccone, on 10/22/2007, -5/+28It's insane to tell kids to wait. Schools should be teaching kids about safe sex and let them make their own decisions! DARE programs don't work, it makes kids more curious about drugs. Similarly, abstinence programs don't work as it makes kids much more curious about sex.
- UtopiaInTheSky, on 10/22/2007, -3/+24"Sucess comes to kids who wait..."? So they're saying if you don't have sex before you're married, you'll be successful. More propaganda...
- tomtucker378, on 10/10/2007, -4/+25They could always just do it in the ear.
- aliengoods, on 10/20/2007, -5/+25No, he just wants people to get married younger.
- Yurimanna, on 10/10/2007, -5/+25I ***** LOVE Catholic School girls and their internal hypocrisies.
- IHaveIssues, on 10/22/2007, -1/+20How about promoting actual parenting? the lack of loving, attentive parenting is the cause of most of the wayward children. ***** working overtime to pay for that 52" plasma, the McMansion you don't need or the 2 large SUVs. Take care of your kids, go out and spend time with them, let them know what the acceptable boundaries are.
- ThornHarvestar, on 10/10/2007, -3/+22It's not that waiting is bad, it's that not informing kids about contraceptives at all is backfiring. Teaching *only* abstinence ends up with the kids who decide to have sex anyway forgoing contraceptives because they weren't taught about them. If that makes any sense.
- thebankshow, on 10/10/2007, -2/+20Obligatory FG quote: "Over two hundred reports of ear sex have been confirmed so far, prompting a new slogan, 'Once you go Black, you go deaf' "
- aliengoods, on 10/12/2007, -5/+23All the while screaming "Oh God"
- khail250, on 10/22/2007, -8/+25to bad his father didn't follow that rule...
- urbanight23, on 10/10/2007, -4/+20no, reality is out of touch with the bush administration. You have it backwards
- JimXugle, on 10/22/2007, -1/+16During the Abstinence-only sex ed at my school, people had questions about condoms and "the pill". The Teacher's reply?
"We're not allowed to talk about that." - Toshibi, on 10/10/2007, -4/+18Atleast you would here it coming....
- BoneheadFarker, on 10/10/2007, -4/+18I was nearly 24 my first time too. Though it wasn't because I wanted to wait...abstinance was forced onto me by pretty much every woman out there. Never doubt the power of desparate women on dating sites...
- urubos, on 10/10/2007, -3/+17Would that be Aural sex?
- jbus, on 10/10/2007, -4/+17Not only that... I read a while back that the STD rates, especially amongst suburban and rural teens in Texas, have skyrocketed since they started pulling this crap. They are preaching to these kids to abstain from sex instead of providing them with adequate sex education and information on how to protect themselves.
- raitchison, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17Yep, look at all the fundamentalists who have their youth pressed firmly under their thumb, they get married before 20 so they can get out of the house and get their groove on.
- Satanael, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18I have a problem with the whole "We may roll our eyes at the Lord," bit in the commercial.
300 million people in this country, they're not all Christian, Bush. - Shorties, on 10/10/2007, -4/+17Damn that would of been so good if you had spelled Hear right
- AnarkeIncarnate, on 10/10/2007, -3/+16Bush doesn't need to have sex. He's ***** the country and the world on a daily basis
- schroeder, on 10/12/2007, -9/+21I waited until I was 24 for sex because of christianity. I'm so ***** stupid! At least I didn't get married for it.
- 0260, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12wow thats ***** up
- turbojugend23, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16And since half of those marriages are going to end in divorce, they might as well wait until their second marriage to have sex.
- MaximusIGN, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16Even the God Damn Catholic church can't keep their PRIESTS pensis in their frocks, yet they are taking the high moral ground and encouraging abstinence only? Man, I can't wait till Bush is out of office. Worst President ever in the history of Presidents and leaders.
- MiDri, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12That's so sad it made me tear up laughing...
- designerutah, on 10/22/2007, -1/+12I prefer to teach my kids about safe sex the same way I teach them about safe driving. The lessons begin, "Here's how to drive safely..." and cover all the laws, guidelines, statistics, and defensive driving techniques I believe work. And that's where "abstinence" comes in. It's just one of the "defensive driving" techniques. "If you want to avoid all the sex issues, you can abstain." Just like, "If you want to avoid all driving problems, stay out of the car."
- MattB123, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12I would imagine he "doesn't recall". In this case that may actually be true.
Of course if he was all liquored/coked up and tried to do the deed I bet he wouldn't be able to perform. Maybe that's the kind of abstinence he's promoting. - BurnTees, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13most people agree that both abstinence AND safe sex should be taught. The decision is up to you, but in order to make that decision, you should be educated about both.
- FTLJohnson, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16Does it bother anyone else that the religious nuts are using TAX dollars to pay for this?
I see three options
1. Stop paying taxes, over 80% go to pay for Religiously motivated wars (Like Bush's "mission from god" in Iraq and Iran) and things like this.
or
2. Tax churches - Isn't it about time we realized that these guys have been stealing our money for almost a century. It's time for them to give back if we are going to continue to live in this system.
or
3. Maintain a separation of church and state. We need to rid all government programs and anything that utilizes ANY portion of tax dollars of ANY religious references. It's not fair to the non-religious or people of alternative religions to force them to support programs built in the name of religiously motivated goals.
One of those three things needs to happen. - weeeezzll, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9You also have to take into account the number of people who lie about having sex.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Eat my balls spell check. Make me look a fool in front of the cool kids. Probably designed by a White man.
- DrDigg, on 10/10/2007, -1/+101. No sex before your married
2. ....
3. Profit! - Tenlow, on 10/10/2007, -5/+14Chef already laid it all out for us. 17 is the correct age.
- unfilterthought, on 10/15/2007, -3/+11If this country loosened up and was less sexually repressed, maybe we'd see less sex scandals involving bathrooms or interns.
- WorldGroove, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Parents(good parents, anyway) care about their children regardless of age.
- fani, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11Although I'm not a conservative, but whats wrong with waiting till you're married ?
Overall though, I don't think it should be govt's business to tell people how to go about their sex lives....
It should be the parents' job to guide their kids on this matter and when kids grow up, their upbringing should guide them in the direction thats right for them. - derforseti, on 10/10/2007, -4/+12Then you agree the bush administration should abandon their abstinence strategy.
