- HA5TY, on 08/24/2008, -245/+860wow.... I bet this is gonna change a lot of people's opinions of Obama fast.
- Adam420, on 08/24/2008, -432/+910No way I'm voting for Obama now.
- bagelmaster, on 08/25/2008, -40/+424It's an issue I care a lot about. Not the most, but keeping the government the ***** out of what I do on the internet is pretty high up there.
- SuperIntendo, on 08/24/2008, -67/+373This is one of the few stories where i wont be making any sarcastic comment. I truly believe this is a really big issue and it needs to be seen by everyone. The day the internet isnt a place for freedom is a very, very bad day in the history of the world and if people are unaware that they're contributing to this by placing a vote, it could be an extremely dangerous situation. If your reading this, please digg the story, its one of the few stories that i really believe needs to make the front page.
- Bartboy919, on 08/25/2008, -125/+428Hey digg! The VP doesnt sign the bills, the president does.
And guess what Obama thinks about net neutrality. Yep, he supports it. This story is lame and is really only out there to fool the most ignorant of people. - gorfdad, on 08/24/2008, -104/+381Finding a candidate that aligns with you 100% of the time is impossible. Is file sharing really the issue you care about most?
- Kesler, on 08/24/2008, -85/+364Far Cry 2 2008!
- algaeturd, on 08/25/2008, -113/+385Some of you guys are total fools. You think this ***** is bad in the big scheme of what McCain wants to do?
Great. You guys are no ***** better than the uneducated rednecks who vote straight republican because 'we wanna keep our guns!"
Same ***** idea on just a different issue.
Think about it. If you're letting one issue decide your vote, you're going to end up the same way we did after one issue (9/11) decided the LAST vote.
RADICAL ISLAMISTSS!!!!!AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!
Vote with your head and not with your heart. Pay attention to all the issues. He's just going to be Veep and the last time I checked, unless you're cheney, you've got little or no power as vice president. - Carv, on 08/25/2008, -95/+340Regardless of the effect a vice president will have on those issues, the issues I agree with Obama/Biden on are far more numerous - and important - than those I disagree with them on.
- inactive, on 08/24/2008, -57/+232...And here comes the 3rd party vote!
- muckemuck, on 08/24/2008, -115/+284Democrats and Republicans .. two sides of the same coin. Vote third party or write in somebody.. don't waste your vote on more of the same Republicrat BS.
- SuperSneaks, on 08/25/2008, -106/+264Obama lost my vote with his flip-flop on FISA. This just further cements. Looks like I am voting for Bob Barr.
- NaziHatinChimp, on 08/25/2008, -33/+190Digg is going to implode on itself and possibly kill us all.
I love Obama but lets not drink the Kool Aid yet people he's a politician till he actually makes some changes. I remember voting for a lot of democrats in 2006 on their "We are leaving Iraq" campaign and ***** hasn't changed. - Mewchu11, on 08/25/2008, -47/+188It would if the vice president had any actual power. Besides maybe breaking a tie or two (which shouldn't be happening with this house/senate) the VP isn't much more than a glorified personal contact for Obama.
We know where Obama stands on this, that's what matters here. - bjarkebech, on 08/24/2008, -74/+205Who else then? Is McCain better?
- algaeturd, on 08/25/2008, -57/+184You guys are such drama queens.
This guy is going to support whatever Obama supports. That will be in his ***** job description, in case you weren't aware. - kocher, on 08/25/2008, -22/+136obama is pro net neutrality
- netneutrality, on 08/25/2008, -42/+148File sharing? Encryption? Sorry, but like a government could possibly do *anything* about that!
- vault, on 08/25/2008, -12/+117"It would if the vice president had any actual power."
Tell that to Dick Cheney. - scabbers, on 08/25/2008, -27/+126Not dying in a desert > file sharing.
- Fafnir43, on 08/25/2008, -53/+150Oh, for *****'s sake. You're refusing to vote for Obama because his RUNNING MATE disagrees with you on TECH POLICY?! When not only does Obama himself have a good tech policy, not only is Biden's major area of expertise very clearly meant to be foreign policy, but when Obama's opponent is McCain? Someone who violently disagrees with common sense on every single issue from the economy to habeas corpas INCLUDING tech policy?
Do you even realise how insane that sounds? Next you'll be telling me there's "no way you're voting for Obama now" after you find out he's a dog person and you're a cat person. Have some ***** perspective here, this is serious business. - Ralphdraw3, on 08/25/2008, -44/+134Obama is the boss, not Biden...
- unitedkronos, on 08/25/2008, -3/+92Duke Nukem Forever 3009!
- Diggnabbit, on 08/25/2008, -2/+90"Protect the Openness of the Internet: A key reason the Internet has been such a success is because it is the most open network in history. It needs to stay that way. Barack Obama strongly supports the principle of network neutrality to preserve the benefits of open competition on the Internet. Users must be free to access content, to use applications, and to attach personal devices."
http://www.barackobama.com/issues/technology/ - bigfatpaulie, on 08/25/2008, -11/+96Sounds like he'd do less harm to your internets as VP than in the Senate.
This is a red herring issue. - i4mt3hwin, on 08/25/2008, -23/+107Ron Paul doesn't support net neutrality either.
- Lynx55, on 08/25/2008, -63/+139Hold on...give the man a chance to explain his reasons, instead of believing in ONE old video. His mind can be changed , possibly he just needs to understand the issues better. If you are dumping Obama for this...well, then you weren't a strong supporter to begin with. Good grief, he probably doesn't even realize this is an issue with Obama supporters. CHILL, and give him time. This wes submitted by McSame supporters...do you believe everything HE puts on ads? You know how much he has lied beofre, so just chill. Let Factcheck look at it, before you go jumping off the deep end!
- NaziHatinChimp, on 08/25/2008, -15/+91You would've voted for him if digg wouldn't have told you. Scary huh.
- Jonmad17, on 08/25/2008, -5/+77Sorry for posting this twice but this is important.
This is what he said "• When he was asked in 2006 about proposing net-neutrality laws, he said there was no need, since any bit-filtering violations would provoke such a huge public ruckus they'd have to hold congressional hearings anyway--and they'd be standing-room only."
His position is far from being strong. He was just saying what Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht were saying : If companies start restricting internet use, people will go *****.
He see's it as unnecessary (for the moment) legislation. He is far from being anti net neutrality. - RubenGM, on 08/25/2008, -6/+77Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.
- RandaII, on 08/25/2008, -24/+89Yeah This is why I hate digg. You are all a bunch of little bitches. Lets see McCain hates net neutrality as well. so who do I want to vote for a guy who hates neutrality and wants war? or vote for someone who embraces net neutrality and has a vp who has different opinions?
- Rahodeb, on 08/25/2008, -13/+77So, the reason not to vote 3rd party is because nobody votes 3rd party?
The whole "wasted vote" thing is a fallacy. There's no such thing.
The success of the green party may have cost an election, but it forced both parties to adopt more environmentally friendly policies in order to compete for those votes. It was also a good wake up call for the Democrats who thought they had these people in their back pocket, and started neglecting them.
Vote for what you support, don't get wrapped up in this republican/democrat 2 party crap. They spread enough fear and bullcrap to make you think that if you don't vote for their candidate, the other one is going to murder your children. In the meantime, when it comes to policy, they are nearly identical. - DeskFlyer, on 08/25/2008, -26/+90Well....at least he has a position on these issues. McCain isn't aware they even exist.
- eszymczyk, on 08/25/2008, -37/+100Ron Paul '08!
- Stormwern, on 08/25/2008, -13/+75He's just the vp mate. He doesn't set the agenda, he promotes it. You can question the vp's character and by extension the character of the person picking him, but I don't think that holds up to light, Biden is a good guy overall. In any circumstance you can't attribute every one of the vp's opinions to the candidate's, because that's simply not the reality.
- Ralphdraw3, on 08/25/2008, -9/+70"It would if the vice president had any actual power."
Tell that to Dick Cheney.
@@@@
Cheney has power only because Bush GIVES that him power. Bush, could have shut Cheney out of all policy making decisions entirely and given most of the power to his cabinet officers.
That was LBJ's position under JFK - he was shut out. And I think LBJ said that the Vice Presidency is worth a warm bucket of piss. - inactive, on 08/25/2008, -10/+70like any of them know what they are doing when it comes to the internet, they are all clueless
- Flupp, on 08/25/2008, -15/+72NightVortez, doesn't that mean if you consider McCain to be the greater of two evils and you don't vote against him (ie for the candidate most likely to beat him) it's also 'kind of your fault' when he wins and turns out to be way worse?
- gorfdad, on 08/24/2008, -32/+87Hopefully this will be far enough down the priority list to not make an impact. I think there's plenty of other issues they can work on first.
- Dereliction, on 08/25/2008, -25/+79Folks, we need to relax a little. Yes, Biden has ugly views on the Internet as we see it but Obama is the one we need to worry about. In that respect, be aware that Obama was a co-sponser of S.215--THE Net Neutrality bill. Obama is quite cognizant of Internet and computing related issues and his track record so far (look it up yourself) has been very strong, even so that Digg no long needs to implode on this news.
I just don't see this as being a critical factor, not so much as others here are making it to be. - david76, on 08/25/2008, -24/+78I'm all for filesharing. And totally agree most attempts to deal with illegal file sharing go WAY over board, but really, if this is _the_ issue that is going to sway your vote, then I hate to say it, but you're a bit simple.
- deadjam82, on 08/25/2008, -33/+86We do have more than 2 parties ppl. Think about it...
This lesser of two evils crap is getting out of hand. Just saying :o) - pitdog, on 08/25/2008, -5/+54Shouldn't the American people, the voters, be the boss? ;)
- NightVortez, on 08/25/2008, -24/+70Are people just finding out how horrible the positions are of Joe Biden? The guy voted for every Patriot Act, FISA, REAL ID, Iraq War funding bill there ever was and while some may agree with the fact that Net Neutrality shouldn't be in place, imposing taxes on the internet is a whole different ***** ball game, he was worse of a democratic nominee running than Clinton, which is why I was so shocked to see everyone reacting positively to this when Obama announced him as his running mate.
- TacoHell, on 08/25/2008, -2/+47Until people stop voting for a donkey or an elephant, you're gonna get a donkey or an elephant.
- Stormwern, on 08/25/2008, -7/+47So the hell what? You wont vote for Obama because if he dies you might loose net neutrality?? Who is more likely to revoke net neutrality, President Biden who ran for it, or President McCain who ran against it?
- RandaII, on 08/25/2008, -15/+55Yeah This is why I hate digg. You are all a bunch of little bitches. Lets see McCain hates net neutrality as well. so who do I want to vote for a guy who hates neutrality and wants war? or vote for someone who embraces net neutrality and has a vp who has different opinions?
- Bith8654, on 08/25/2008, -38/+76Cool so McCain can win and we can all be *****, thanks.
- jmpeagle, on 08/25/2008, -7/+42he's only against net neutrality....he's libertarian so he thinks copyrights and patents are excessive use of government force that inhibits economic progress so file sharing would be encouraged under him. As to encryption, I don't know how anyone can be against that.
