The Prologue demo is great. For those of you who have it, all the locked cars are now unlocked and you can now play as the brand new WRX STi.- Le3f, on 10/26/2007, -1/+13This single piece of news may be the factor that pushes me over the line into buying a ps3 just to play GT5
- aceslick911, on 10/27/2007, -5/+5the new sti is a rolling turd... quite an embarrassment from what used to be perfection... I'm looking forward to the Evo X.
Now thats a well designed car.- digidelia, on 10/25/2007, -1/+3wah
- 808kick, on 10/25/2007, -1/+6I know! It's as if they said, "We have this awesome car, how can we ***** it up totally?"
- shadowpr0ph3t, on 10/26/2007, -0/+19Having played and owned Forza 2. I agree.
- thecheatah, on 10/25/2007, -8/+2forza 2? HAHAHAHHAHHAHHHHHAHH.
I brought my cuz forza 2 and hooked it up to the same tv as I play my ps3. It looked ok. Kinda boring to play. We gave up pretty quick on the gameplay after we checked out how the graphics were. I switched over to the demo, everyone was instantly hooked to the graphics and the person playing to the gameplay.- Rayonic, on 10/27/2007, -6/+6Yeah, who needs realistic physics or car damage when you have pretty graphics!
- DarkSamus, on 10/26/2007, -9/+1i'm sure gt is famous for pretty graphics only
- staticneuron, on 10/26/2007, -2/+6Considering that I ran into a wall at 120 mph and still kept on going.... I would say that forza2 isn't that realistic.
- Rayonic, on 10/27/2007, -6/+6Yeah, who needs realistic physics or car damage when you have pretty graphics!
- thecheatah, on 10/25/2007, -8/+2forza 2? HAHAHAHHAHHAHHHHHAHH.
- Rayonic, on 10/27/2007, -19/+1Gran Turismo = Bumper Cars.
Lack of car damage was forgivable in the PS1 era. - Christbait, on 10/27/2007, -13/+1Gran Turismo is the weakest racing series I ever played on the Playstation 1&2.
- zeitgueist, on 10/29/2007, -1/+50Not surprising, I'm told that Clarkson is addicted to the series.
- johnmalc, on 10/25/2007, -0/+33And although Gran Turismo has never had ""Bosses", a final race against The Stig would be awesome.
It would also add replay value, since you could never win.- DarkSamus, on 10/25/2007, -1/+4i am the stig and i'll let you win if you buy me some white castles
- Refrag, on 10/25/2007, -5/+4Maybe... but he plays with the directional pad instead of a thumbstick. Ewwww!
- Kevmike, on 10/25/2007, -0/+2For sure, man. How can you get proper throttle control with the pressure buttons?
- swanny89, on 10/25/2007, -2/+17And The Stig's fat American cousin of course.
- tizz66, on 10/25/2007, -0/+3And after this series, Stig's African Cousin too!
- loginname, on 10/26/2007, -0/+12http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkdWkAs9qmo
Here is the GT clip from the show.- Bara, on 10/25/2007, -0/+2Wait... what happens? Does he beat it or not?
- ivantalboys, on 10/25/2007, -0/+2No is the short answer. The Clarkson answer had plenty more excuses.
- 808kick, on 10/25/2007, -0/+5If I remember correctly no, the brakes on the NSX get too hot during the lap, and in the real world that car can't take that corner (the corkscrew) at the speed you can in the game
- Bara, on 10/25/2007, -0/+2Wait... what happens? Does he beat it or not?
- johnmalc, on 10/25/2007, -0/+33And although Gran Turismo has never had ""Bosses", a final race against The Stig would be awesome.
- TuxedoMax, on 10/25/2007, -0/+79Now we will all learn to fear Gambon.
- feebes, on 10/26/2007, -1/+91Do we get to race against the Stig?
- nolan0495, on 10/25/2007, -2/+20I AM THE STIG!!! Or at least now I can pretend to be and it will be a somewhat viable claim. This is definitely good news.
- blindmelon1, on 10/25/2007, -0/+15"Some say that he pretends to be who he is, and when he tries to be something he's not, he's on digg"
We just know him as, The Stig
- blindmelon1, on 10/25/2007, -0/+15"Some say that he pretends to be who he is, and when he tries to be something he's not, he's on digg"
- Klarth, on 10/26/2007, -3/+21I'm not really a fan of the PS3, but I love Top Gear! I'll have to try and convince a PS3-owning friend to get this...
- gudnbluts, on 10/25/2007, -0/+19One of the episodes had Clarkson familiarising himself with the Laguna Seca (sp?) track on this game, then doing it for real, in the same car (I think it was a Honda NSX, can't remember).
- blindmelon1, on 10/25/2007, -1/+11Yeah it was the Honda.....shame they dont make those anymore.
- DarkSamus, on 10/25/2007, -0/+5dood, it's coming back with a v10!!

- DarkSamus, on 10/25/2007, -0/+5dood, it's coming back with a v10!!
- Soriven, on 10/25/2007, -0/+8Here's the episode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlnRY0Ngy3s
- johnmalc, on 10/25/2007, -0/+2He never matched his GT4 time, and much of his explanation came down to G-Forces and fear, but in truth, he was actually playing a NSX-R in GT4, vs. a vanilla NSX on the real track.
- blindmelon1, on 10/25/2007, -1/+11Yeah it was the Honda.....shame they dont make those anymore.
- NeonElixir, on 10/27/2007, -0/+47Well now I want a PS3. Damnit.
- Racerx52, on 10/27/2007, -0/+27This is a great day for gamers. I`ll probably lift on the followthrough, :-/
- chicaneuk, on 10/25/2007, -0/+2As long as you don't follow through on the followthrough ;)
- RJNavarrete, on 10/25/2007, -1/+14Now people can compare their stock lap times in terms of in-game vs. real life to see whether GT5 turns out to be merely a good simulation or a true-to-life experience as many are hoping. I'm thinking the latter will prove to be true.
- shadowpr0ph3t, on 10/26/2007, -4/+7Driving car is a lot different to pressing a few buttons.
- Jertje, on 10/26/2007, -2/+7First off: GT isn't a simulation, and never was. It's a racing game marketed as a simulation,
Secondly: Having the test track will not mean anything; it will just show that anyone and everyone can rival the Stig's times, even though they would NEVER be able to do so in real life.- 808kick, on 10/26/2007, -0/+12Most people playing this game can't drive stick, heel-toe, or can handle a car with that much power.
- johnmalc, on 10/25/2007, -0/+2But some of us can, and though we track our cars regularly, the familiarity with a course certainly helps.
I know there wasn't an e39 M5 in GT4, but I'm still confident that my first lap on the Nurburgring might impress Sabine Schmitz (and hopefully convince her to marry me).
- johnmalc, on 10/25/2007, -0/+2But some of us can, and though we track our cars regularly, the familiarity with a course certainly helps.
- roxya, on 10/26/2007, -0/+9Well yeah. In GT4, I can handle myself around the 'ring in the Toyota 88CV no problem.
In real life I'd no doubt kill myself in that thing. - staticneuron, on 10/26/2007, -1/+4Well..... Unless you really do know how to drive. It isn't a new concept. To use a visual medium to get aquainted to an area and develop some sort of familiarity. Nothing of course beats the real thing but that doesn't stop the army from exposing soldiers to virtual battle fields or the piolets in training from flying in a virtual plane and experienceing simulated G's.
- 808kick, on 10/26/2007, -0/+12Most people playing this game can't drive stick, heel-toe, or can handle a car with that much power.
- RJNavarrete, on 10/26/2007, -2/+2You're re-affirming what I said. If someone is really good at the game, they're times should rival the Stig's times in real life... In other words, if GT5 is a "racing sim," a near-perfect GT5 player should rival a near-perfect Stig lap on the Test Track given the same car and conditions.
- Jertje, on 10/26/2007, -2/+7First off: GT isn't a simulation, and never was. It's a racing game marketed as a simulation,
- ddast, on 10/26/2007, -0/+2Gran Turismo is not a simulator, despite what their marketing says. Try RFactor or Live for Speed.
- BearinG, on 10/26/2007, -0/+2Or even GTR.. when it comes out for the 360 and PS3 later.. then we can all agree its more of a simulation than both Forza 2 and Gran Turismo
- shadowpr0ph3t, on 10/26/2007, -4/+7Driving car is a lot different to pressing a few buttons.
- cynic573, on 10/25/2007, -0/+14So is the Ariel Atom in the game?
- Emachine, on 10/30/2007, -1/+34I love TOPGEAR!!! This may be the only my reason to get a PS3
- taforever, on 10/27/2007, -1/+26I dont own a PS3, but i will digg this because this is awesome.
- felix21685, on 10/25/2007, -0/+7hahaha, well that settles it, gotta buy GT5 when it comes out, not like i wasn't going to buy it.
Always wondered what it would be like to have the track on a game. - Fanrir, on 10/29/2007, -0/+64But will it have the Reasonably-Priced Car?
- gudnbluts, on 10/30/2007, -11/+4I doubt many people are going to be thinking "Zonda, Lacetti, Zonda, Lacetti - decisions, decisions!"
- friedman420, on 10/25/2007, -0/+17theres a charm to reasonably priced cars, and horrific understeer as well
- andydumi, on 10/25/2007, -0/+5Thats the beauty of GT series, they have the minivans, and 10 year old clunkers we drove in high school, like a Taurus, or a crappy Civic.
- TripcodeMel, on 10/30/2007, -3/+2I said a ten-second car, not a ten-MINUTE car!
- raitchison, on 10/25/2007, -0/+3No faith?
- nmc1980, on 10/30/2007, -1/+1Who doesn't like fast and furious quotes? classic
- gedden, on 10/30/2007, -0/+14yep. now i got to get a damn ps3
- ninzoris, on 10/25/2007, -0/+22I havn't owned a console since SNES but I think I'm getting a PS3.
- sshack, on 10/25/2007, -2/+8NM already mentioned
- Vito82, on 10/25/2007, -1/+15I will only buy this game, If I am bale to drive James May's Fiat Panda.
Richard Hammond on Jame's FIAT Panda "I;ts only got two knobs on the inside, well three if you count the one behind the steering wheel." - mooninite, on 10/25/2007, -5/+3Wow... this is fantastic. This makes the 5 month wait TORTURE!
- EricPeters, on 10/25/2007, -0/+6Hot damn. For about 2 years now I've wanted to create a map for Colin McRae with that track, but I was lacking in the skill to do that. Man I wish I had a PS3... Or a friend with a PS3. Top Gear FTW
- Refrag, on 10/26/2007, -0/+4So, when is Sony going to put the GT5 Prologue demo up on the US store?
- cygnus183, on 10/27/2007, -0/+2just create a separate Japanese account and download it with that
- Harbinger67, on 10/25/2007, -0/+9Great, now every time I finish a race I can go "And ACROSS the line!"
- mwales, on 10/25/2007, -2/+3The Top Gear track layout is a figure 8 (http://tviv.org/Top_Gear/Test_Track), I wonder what there plan is for that?
- raitchison, on 10/25/2007, -0/+1I'm guessing you won't actually "race" on it and it will be one of the "test tracks" which is appropriate.
- johnmalc, on 10/25/2007, -0/+2Although T-boning a slower car would certainly help validate their new damage-collision model.
- raitchison, on 10/25/2007, -0/+1I'm guessing you won't actually "race" on it and it will be one of the "test tracks" which is appropriate.
- tomj88, on 10/25/2007, -0/+3I hope they include all of the top gear creations too, I would love to drive their stretch limo's round the track
- johnmalc, on 10/25/2007, -0/+2A Caravan holiday power lap?
- smacksaw, on 10/25/2007, -0/+9That is ***** brilliant, but I want the crash tests as well!
- FrankRizzo69, on 10/26/2007, -0/+14The REAL question is are they going to include the "reasonably priced car" to accurately play the track?
- aelias, on 10/25/2007, -0/+5I can't wait to scrape the tire wall. I will not lift!
- zyklon, on 10/25/2007, -0/+5I think I wet myself a little.
- Davey, on 10/25/2007, -0/+10Perhaps we can finally see how fast the Veyron goes around the track.
- drizzlelicious, on 10/25/2007, -0/+8In addition to this, if you read the article, 40 Top Gear episodes are coming to whatever "GT TV" is, probably in HD goodness.
- tizz66, on 10/25/2007, -0/+3They won't be in HD since Top Gear isn't filmed in HD to start with (I've never understood why, it's the BBC's most profitable export and BBC2's most popular programme, you'd think they'd invest it making it HD)
- Myonosken, on 10/25/2007, -0/+2Well these will be back catalogue episodes, and we're talking 2001-2004.
- madmoose, on 10/25/2007, -0/+3Do you really want to see Jeremy Clarkson in HD? Some things do better with a bit of blur...
- tizz66, on 10/25/2007, -0/+3They won't be in HD since Top Gear isn't filmed in HD to start with (I've never understood why, it's the BBC's most profitable export and BBC2's most popular programme, you'd think they'd invest it making it HD)
- Brian48216, on 10/31/2007, -0/+6Wow.
just.
Wow.
Words cannot express how excited I am about this. - terencec, on 10/25/2007, -6/+1OH YES!!! Now I can try to beat the "stiggie's" time !
ON the other hand... I can see Forza 3 (if its coming) getting a deal with Fifth Gear somehow...- rikwakefield, on 10/25/2007, -0/+5Fifth Gear isn't a patch on Top Gear.
- Myonosken, on 10/30/2007, -0/+4Fifth Gear burn things.
- johnmalc, on 10/25/2007, -0/+2He must be joking. Nobody could have both a preference for Forza over GT, AND actually watch Fifth Gear instead of TG.
- scottykempf, on 10/30/2007, -4/+8But can you play as Hammond and crash the rocket car?
- johnmalc, on 10/30/2007, -0/+3Too soon?
- eightyd, on 10/31/2007, -0/+12oh my god, I can drive the penultimate turn into gambon
I am suddenly sold on the ps3 - Kelmon, on 10/31/2007, -1/+19This should be the lamest announcement...but it's not. Of all the things that has been announced for the PS3, this is the only one so far that has got my attention and makes me actually want to buy one. In this respect I feel almost ashamed that something so minor (it's just a track) feels so appealing that I'd now consider handing over the money for one despite the fact that I've called the system grossly overpriced on numerous occasions. What the hell is wrong with me?
- paulsmith288, on 10/25/2007, -0/+4it is the little things that count ;)
- camstudio, on 10/30/2007, -1/+1What's wrong? You love Top Gear and you're human :)
I don't have a PS3, so ... HL2 mod, anyone? Anyone? - Christbait, on 10/30/2007, -3/+2Forcing people to buy the latest installment in Sony's ultra-bland racing series to watch episodes of Top Gear, time to dust off my PS3?
Hell to the no, Sony can suck it with lame announcements, I want games dammit, not derivative crap that no one needs.
- Ignitedude, on 10/25/2007, -0/+7First good move by Sony in what literally feels like forever.
- Shahreel, on 05/25/2008, -0/+3This is awesome news!
- middyuk, on 10/25/2007, -4/+0Some say the Stig is made out of cheese. Others say he’s made out of lard…. all I know he’s called the Stig… and he’s awesome ! !
PS: Has anyone seen the Stig’s American cousin lately?- terrablebyte, on 10/25/2007, -0/+2Fail.
- rikwakefield, on 10/25/2007, -0/+4This has pretty much confirmed that I will be buying a PS3.
- d1a1s1, on 10/25/2007, -0/+3You know they're going to have to have an episode with the Stig running a lap on the PS3 while listening to some Italian language CD. I can see it now....sitting in front of the monitor in full race gear.
- Christbait, on 10/30/2007, -10/+2Let's just make some stuff we based off of a gimmicky average car program of old farts driving flash motors around such as Top Gear and later on, conveniently stick the words "Top Gear" and "Gran Turismo" together, Sony are so genius!
And from what it looks like the lemmings are already eating this ***** up.- t3hp0d, on 10/30/2007, -1/+4A gimmicky average car program? How about the longest running motoring series in UK TV history? Who the ***** are you really... Tiff Needell? Stop being so bitter Tiff, you'll get used to life on Channel 5 mate.
- razangriff, on 10/30/2007, -0/+2He's probably a caravanner.
- t3hp0d, on 10/30/2007, -1/+4A gimmicky average car program? How about the longest running motoring series in UK TV history? Who the ***** are you really... Tiff Needell? Stop being so bitter Tiff, you'll get used to life on Channel 5 mate.
- visca, on 10/25/2007, -0/+2Amazing! Now all GT5 needs is the mountain track from the "Initial D" series, and it would be the perfect driving game!
- docrings, on 10/26/2007, -2/+3This track has already been a great download for the PC racing simulators rFactor and GTR2.... what a blast!
- joper90, on 10/25/2007, -0/+22 things
1) it will need the Liana car. (to compare your times)
2) you can prob cut half the corners a treat, as they are just marked out on the runway. which is a shame. - sagat, on 10/25/2007, -0/+3I can't imagine how many Americans are reading this and scratching their heads with no idea what the hell Top Gear is.
btw, I love my 360 but would be tempted to buy a PS3 simply to see if I can somehow beat Terry Wogans time around the track - yes I'm crap at racing but surely I have a chance against "Wogans Run". - t3hp0d, on 10/25/2007, -0/+2***** awesome news. Must be able to race as the Stig or at least against him. I can't wait to do an Ian Wright and take Gambon on two wheels! w00t!!
- ropers, on 10/25/2007, -0/+2Relevancy link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_Gear_%28current_f ... - ropers, on 10/25/2007, -1/+1They got the buildings wrong! Compare the actual track environment ( http://tviv.org/w/images/3/32/TopGear-TestTrack.jp ... ) to what they are planning on putting into the game. If you do this, DO IT RIGHT!! How hard can it be?
- decker12, on 10/25/2007, -1/+1I can't wait to drive this track when GT5 is released in 2009.
