- Ljay90, on 11/17/2008, -10/+114Goddamn, can't we just acknowledge the anniversary of a next-gen console without the fanboys coming out to flame?
- fasda, on 11/17/2008, -5/+82boggles my mind that they did that when they still make games for ps2
- Mightbiteyou, on 11/17/2008, -2/+54you must be new here
- Sakumi, on 11/17/2008, -14/+65After owning a PS3 and a 360 I have to say I do prefer the PS3. The 360 wasn't bad.. don't get me wrong (live totally beats the ps3's online play), but I use the *gasp* other media functions of the PS3 just as much as I game on it.. so it suits me needs more.
- inactive, on 11/17/2008, -12/+61I have a PS3, a 360 and a wii. I can't say I've turned on the Wii in the last year. The 360 I plug in when I want to play Dead Rising. Otherwise I've been using the PS3 almost exclusively. Now, I play PC games much more than I play any console game, but GTA4? That I play on PS3. Metal Gear Solid 4? Played that for several weeks straight on PS3. I played Gears of War once. Thought it was generic and not nearly as good as any number of PC shooters and then returned it to the video store.
I won't say that one system is inherrently better than any other, as that's just pissing in the wind. I will say the PS3 fits my needs far better, runs quieter, and hasn't red ringed on me like that piece of ***** 360, but hey, to each his own. - xChunk, on 11/17/2008, -7/+47I'm still waiting for the Playstation 9.
Remember those commercials? - TypeEE, on 11/17/2008, -2/+39They screwed up at some point, they either should have never included ps2 emulation at the first place, or they should not have remove it later on.
- Spid3y, on 11/17/2008, -60/+94Two years ago, the best Blu-ray player with PS2 support came out.
Then they took away the PS2 support, who still buys this thing? - inactive, on 11/17/2008, -64/+98Best console I ever bought
- mywhitenoise, on 11/17/2008, -5/+355 games?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v653/mywhitenois ...
That's not including all the downloaded games I've got. - inactive, on 11/17/2008, -19/+47I own:
Sega Genesis+CD, Dreamcast
SNES, N64, GCN, Wii
XBOX, XBOX360
PS1, PS2, PS3
3 GBAs, SuperGB, 2 GBCs, a DS lite, Virtual Boy
Game Gear, Tapwave Zodiac, iPhone
PSP - inactive, on 11/17/2008, -3/+30And since those old games were not designed for 1080p or any sort of HD at all, the games dont look any different.
- SemiSarcastic, on 11/17/2008, -4/+29No.
- bhattsan, on 11/17/2008, -15/+39Congrats sony on a wonderful 2 years!
- YouRookies, on 11/17/2008, -8/+30"I much prefer the 360 because of the variety of games."
What Variety? As a 360 owner myself, all it has that are exclusive are shooters and then Fable. - DaviDaviDaviD, on 11/17/2008, -25/+47I really do admire the PS3 for what it can do and I think that the best is yet to come what with titles like LBP. However, I much prefer the 360 because of the variety of games.
- Narishma, on 11/17/2008, -6/+28People who don't give a ***** about PS2 compatibility.
- n3tfury, on 11/17/2008, -4/+26just got mine a month ago and ***** love it.
- inactive, on 11/17/2008, -2/+23If the bird was an employee don't count on it. They don't know anything at all.
- irfanmp, on 11/17/2008, -20/+41I would argue against that but I'm too busy playing Gears of War 2 right now.
- inactive, on 11/17/2008, -7/+26And I still don't have one.
- treed, on 11/17/2008, -2/+21I play PS1 and 2 games on mine. Not often, but it's good for going back over the MGS series.
- slimthps, on 11/17/2008, -7/+25And then Blu-Ray wouldn't have taken off, and many games that will be coming out in the future wouldn't be possible on the PS3 without the Blu-Ray disc.
- mweflen, on 11/17/2008, -5/+23Well, it was a rocky start... but I waited a year and bought the 60gb right before they canceled it. In the year since, I've bought a lot of great games (e.g. Uncharted, Singstar, GTA4, MGS4, Bioshock, Fallout 3, LBP), a dozen or so blu-rays, upgraded the HDD to 320gb, and I stream content from my PC wirelessly. Since I was buying multiplatform titles on PS3 anyway for the free online, I've sold my 360 (and am no longer afraid that a jet engine will burn my house down). I haven't looked back once. Oh, and I also use the PS3 for some DVDs, since it has a nufty 1.5 speed mode with audio - a great way to watch a 45 min. TV show in 30 minutes.
I love the thing. The only thing I'm still waiting for is netflix streaming, a la the 360. I think there's a good chance it will happen.
I'm glad Sony has worked it out and made it a viable platform. I think fans of all three systems are lucky - we finally have a truly competitive and essentially even console market. Nothing could be better than an arrangement in which whatever system you buy, it will be supported by good software and a company that will back it up and not go out of business. - seefresh, on 11/17/2008, -5/+21You know what I love? I still hae the machine I bought on launch date and I've had 0 problems with it.
- inactive, on 11/17/2008, -13/+29i'll take it. i can't afford upgrading my PC every 6 months for the new NVIDIA 12800GTX+ super duper XTREME Ultra Mega Hyper Pro Edition, and then eventually find that it uses a new slot that my mobo doesnt have.
- normalkid0615, on 11/17/2008, -6/+21I love my PS3 more than anything. It is smooth, graphics and sound are great, watching movies and music is a breeze, and it just looks great on my entertainment center. Bravo Sony! Happy B-Day!
- Exhaust, on 11/17/2008, -21/+36I've been playing my PS3 a lot more lately due to LBP however the 360 is my favorite console this generation. Not just because of the games but the experience. Required installs, required updates that take forever to download, having to "install" demos and add ons after they download... Sucks to sit down ready to jump in and play only to have to wait, then wait some more before ever seeing a title screen. Its not all games but its happened enough to soil the PS3's reputation in my eyes.
Multiplayer games being broken for a week or two after launch (TF2, COD4, GTAIV, MSG4, R6V2, SOCOM). 4 out of 10 people having mics online.
I really like both consoles but the 360 is a better system for gaming... Atleast when its running (I've had one instance of RROD since January 2006).
The PS3 will never catch the 360's install base in America... Atleast before the 360 successor comes out. - Vulphaestion, on 11/17/2008, -5/+20LittleBigPlanet.
The best game in a while. - zeroshiftsl, on 11/17/2008, -1/+16My cousin would call Best Buy just to bother the ***** out of the employees saying "You don't have PS9? Dude, I JUST saw a commercial for it! PS2? No, ***** that dude. PS9 is out now!"
- sjps220, on 11/17/2008, -5/+20I find it funny that we're here talking about the 2 year anniversary of the launch, and people are still saying "Just wait until ______"
- mywhitenoise, on 11/17/2008, -3/+16I always alphabetize my games, movies, and cds. What's wrong with organization? I'd be a pain in the ***** ass to find an album out of 500 when everything is unorganized.
The picture, I had nothing better to do. You've never been bored out of your mind for 5 minutes that you did something as equally pathetic (sort of like commenting on digg)? - deaftly, on 11/17/2008, -7/+20From a joke to a pretty decent console, still playing catch up to the 360 though.
- bmystry, on 11/17/2008, -2/+15You're looking at it the wrong way man its a Blu-Ray player that plays games.
- DaviDaviDaviD, on 11/17/2008, -6/+19I didn't say it was better, I said I prefer. There's a difference.
- inactive, on 11/17/2008, -5/+17"Wow, and the PS3 wins? I didn't know you could enjoy all 5 games for it that much."
I have 39 PS3 games. 41 PS2 games that my PS3 plays and another 30 PS1 games my PS3 plays. - CollapseControl, on 11/17/2008, -36/+48So 2 years ago, gamers forked over ~$700 for this console that wouldn't even hit it's stride for a few years. What a waste of time & money, I can't help but laugh at the people who purchased one back then.
- mywhitenoise, on 11/17/2008, -4/+15He said 39 PS3 games, and 41 PS2 games...he isn't counting the PS2 games as PS3 ones.
Might want to work on your reading comprehension. - cmsjustin, on 11/17/2008, -10/+21I own a PS3, 360, and Wii.
My playtime is probably about 5%, 95%, 0%, respectively.
Maybe 15%, 85% since LittleBigPlanet came out. - specialK16, on 11/17/2008, -4/+15Meh, I'm going back to play MGS4, a real game.
- pigfister, on 11/17/2008, -8/+18But what they can do if you want to play all them ps2 titles you already own is release them via the psn, so you get to purchase them all over again.
Anti-Consumer is Sony's middle, last and first name.

- mywhitenoise, on 11/17/2008, -2/+12Then you should have bought one at wal-mart last week.
- inactive, on 11/17/2008, -6/+16funny how a ps3 thread turns your away from your beloved gears
and it looks like there are more xbots in here - crashingechelon, on 11/17/2008, -6/+15Atleast the ones who bought one back then have the best version of the PS3. The ones on the market today are missing features that the PS3 originally had. My PS3 atleast has 4 USB ports, backwards compatibility with every PS1, PS2 game, and the memory card reader ports. Only after removing those features and 2 USB ports they were able to drop the price of the system.
- Exhaust, on 11/17/2008, -2/+11Little Big Planet
Its a great game especially if you were one of those kids like me that loved playing with Legos and Erector sets back in the day. Awesome platformer single player campaign but the level creator is just incredible. More than worth the price tag. - TnTBass, on 11/17/2008, -1/+10I disagree. We need more flaming. Its what keeps the internet warm in these cold Canadian winters.
- iRoy, on 11/17/2008, -3/+12Nice. Happy birthday to my favorite console of all time.
Kinda sucks that my 60GB is down in Texas for repair ATM but whatevs... I guess it's nice to take a break.
I was talking to a friend who went through the RRoD thing when H3 came out and we both agreed that one becomes more productive when there are no video games. Wish I could be playing R2 today but hey... I got FF3 on DS to keep me busy... - sprotacular, on 11/17/2008, -6/+15Wake me up when they release the next Team Ico game.
- inactive, on 11/17/2008, -1/+10"Umm...You know the 360 is a better media device."
No it's not.
PS3 is quieter, plays bluray movies, has a vastly superior DVD upscaler, lets you copy photos/movies/music to and from the system via flash cards, USB drives, optical discs and the network, uses an online CD track listing database, lets you set the bitrate to rip audio CDs to, the ability to rename and edit metadata for songs/videos/photos/games, animated thumbnails for videos, install linux and it will play just about video you throw at it, use any store bought SATA hard drive to upgrade it's capacity, the list goes on
PS3 is a vastly superior media center -
