- Sedako, on 04/10/2008, -0/+8It's taken a while, but I really feel that the PS3 is on the right track. Even a fanboy would be wrong not to admit that things weren't going too well for it in the beginning. At that point the already established Xbox360 was the better deal by a long shot. However, it's quite apparent now that not all of Sony's design decisions were bad ones (although there was certainly risk involved). Blu-ray is now the HD format, and having the player built-in is certain a plus for both HD movies and disk storage. Sony finally has a lot of high profile exclusives on the way over the next couple of years, so it's very possible that the PS3 could creep up on the Xbox360's 2nd place position very quickly.
The fanboys on either side need to realize that this sort of competition is great for the consumer. It's entirely possible that the results of last-generation's console battle is what caused Nintendo to innovate with the Wii, thus rocketing them from last place to first with a very fun and affordable console. I would personally love to continue seeing 3 consoles available with each generation, forcing the system developers to keep prices down and innovation up, and also allowing consumers to make the best choice for themselves without being stuck with something that didn't do a lot of what they wanted it to. - theaceoffire, on 04/10/2008, -0/+6I had a sizable ps1 and ps2 library, so I went with the PS3.
Its really quiet too, which I like. - mywhitenoise, on 04/10/2008, -0/+5They didn't drop backwards compatibility until the 40GB version came out...and it's ONLY the 40GB that isnt BC with PS2 games.
What lies? I distinctly remember these "PS3 wont work on your TV if you don't own an HDTV in 2009", "PS3 games will cost $90 a game" "Games will be user specific, you will not be able to resell them, and they will only work on the first console you play them on"...among many, many other stupid rumors that never came true. - DarkShroud, on 04/10/2008, -1/+3Nintendo needs to go full HD next round if they want my dollar again. I hard drive wouldn't hurt either. But I'd settle for an SD slot again if it goes up to the new 32gig limit. And I own all the Nintendo consoles: NES, SNES, N64, GC, & the Wii.
- vd0man, on 04/10/2008, -4/+2Huh? What lies?
The reason PS3 had an abysmal start was becuse it was $600. Not having rumble and dropping backward compatibility didn't help either. It didin't have any must-have games at launch. These aren't lies. Nobody lied. The truth is that for it's first year PS3 sucked. It's much better now (better price, better games) and that's why it's selling. - 360Fan12345, on 04/10/2008, -5/+1Finally, a good article about the PS3, by a Sony fan. Their site actually doesn't look too bad either.
- Corey2, on 04/10/2008, -10/+2Right now i still think the 360 is the better choice, but as this year goes on the ps3 is going to start looking better and better as the AAA games come out
