- truspector, on 02/21/2008, -21/+167As much as I hate to say it, it looks like Sony's Blu ray gamble actually paid off.
- truespector, on 02/21/2008, -7/+83*head explodes*
- mywhitenoise, on 02/21/2008, -5/+79A blu-ray attachment would probably cost at least $200. I don't think that would be a smart move. People would give the "A $350 360 plus $50 a year to play online, $100 for a wi-fi, and a $200 attachment to play Blu-Ray movies? Or the $400 PS3?"
- loganhid, on 02/21/2008, -31/+93The PS3 is a great system.
- petebot, on 02/21/2008, -5/+57OMG--Is Viking Quest coming out on BluRay??
Victory!! - mungins, on 02/21/2008, -2/+53obviously you don't know Truspector.
- mywhitenoise, on 02/21/2008, -0/+49Come on truspector, you OWN the 40GB PS3, you should know this.
- santasing, on 02/21/2008, -5/+54Flying pigs....check.
- BinaryDelt, on 02/21/2008, -7/+54Kid: "I want a PS3!"
Parents: "It's too expensive and you already have a game system."
Kid: "It's a Blu-ray player too."
Dad: "Honey, kid's got a point." - theaceoffire, on 02/21/2008, -15/+58MS better release a Blu-Ray attachment soon unless they want their users buying a PS3 for movies.
- truspector, on 02/21/2008, -2/+41Please don't do it again.
- bdawg123, on 02/21/2008, -2/+37Wrong.
- truspector, on 02/21/2008, -8/+43Did I ever argue that point?
- somesthetic, on 02/21/2008, -0/+30its just business.
windows is on sony computers, toshiba bought manufacturing plants from sony, its really only the fanboys who hold the grudges. - shinythingy, on 02/21/2008, -19/+45Its sad that you hate to say it. Get over it
- loganhid, on 02/21/2008, -3/+28Wait..........what.
- theaceoffire, on 02/21/2008, -3/+27He was confused with the 360. The $350 console + $50 online doesn't come with wi-fi.
Its an honest mistake. - TheMarenum, on 02/21/2008, -3/+25This is interesting. I don't think a media format has ever helped the sales of a system more than the games. Once PS3 gets more quality titles the sales will be through the roof.
- BinaryDelt, on 02/21/2008, -1/+23Truspector's computer has become self-aware. There is no way he is at the helm. I am now taking applications for those wishing to help me find and destroy Skynet.
- truspector, on 02/21/2008, -6/+26Holy *****, I stand corrected. I honestly didn't know mine had WiFi. LOL Ethernet FTW. :)
- WhereAmI, on 02/21/2008, -1/+21When you setup the internet connections click Wireless instead of wired. I know, thats so hard, damn Sony making that so hard.
- whateverHeSaid, on 02/21/2008, -1/+21Really? My how quickly we forget.
- charlescheese, on 02/21/2008, -4/+23Tru, that's the first time I've ever dugg you up.
- Dracusis, on 02/21/2008, -3/+20You bought a $400 machine and never read the manual, or noticed the wireless option in the Internet connection setup, or the wireless symbol on the box?
The ineptitude of 360 fanboys continues to amaze me. - inactive, on 02/21/2008, -2/+19I play PS3 online and it's still great. dedicated servers + free ftw
- imikedaman, on 02/21/2008, -1/+17Just like that DVD monopoly, eh? How's that $900 DVD player treating you?
Hint, hint: the Blu-Ray format is licensed by an entire consortium of companies. There will be plenty of competition to drive prices down. - jsin1276, on 02/21/2008, -4/+20Blu-Ray FTW!!
- theaceoffire, on 02/21/2008, -10/+26Truspector, your comments in this (and a few other threads) raises my opinion of you greatly.
- zioxide, on 02/21/2008, -3/+19Maybe in 2020 when we finally get fiber to all homes.
- Spytap, on 02/21/2008, -0/+16Well since this is in the sony thread I didn't pay 100 bucks for a ***** attachment; it came built in. Also why would we, in the sony thread, be discussing PC gaming? Lastly , the middle of Los Angeles is hardly *****, and yet miracle of miracles, I still have unmolested wi-fi. Learn to actually setup your router instead (hint: if it's called "Linksys" then it's not set up) and I think you'll find the convenience far outweighs the 10ms lower pings.
- LanceUppercut, on 02/21/2008, -2/+17This was a milestone for me. I was playing Tiger Woods 2008 on the wii, and my fiance came into the room and stated that her mom told her that the format war was over and that blu-ray had won. I had known this for a day, but i decided to keep it to myself to spare me from the monotonous drivel that I am subjected to on a daily basis. She then stated, I ***** you not, that we can buy a blu-ray player. So yes, there is a god, and he granted my fiance the ability to realize that a.) we need a blu-ray player and b.) the ps3 is the best player for the money.
- zetsurin, on 02/21/2008, -3/+18Another nail in the PS3 coffin... no wait. I guess I was right all along, suck it up xbots.
- minoss, on 02/21/2008, -10/+24Yea, games like MGS4 and Uncharted right?
- Topher06, on 02/21/2008, -4/+18Actually, the PS3 isn't an entity, so it can't focus on games, its up to game developers to make games, and they are making some pretty awesome games. In the mean time, Sony is driving forward a new generation of high-def movies which is sorely needed with new HDTV's. The only people that say they don't need HD movies are those without an HDTV or never tried viewing an HD movie. I don't game 100% of the time, but I am using my PS3 100% of the time.
- bdawg123, on 02/21/2008, -16/+30Regardless of anything you say, truspector, you still are and always will be an *****.
- DarkShroud, on 02/21/2008, -0/+14Except they wouldn't pay Sony, they would pay the Blu-ray Disc Association. Also, the companies that make the DVD drives for the 360, Hitachi, Samsung, & Philips are all members of the BDA. So it wouldn't matter anyway. MS is trying to get the HDi menu technology from HD-DVD added to the Blu-ray 2.0 spec. FYI, Toshibia has part ownership of the cell since they helped develop it. It really is just business.
- mywhitenoise, on 02/21/2008, -3/+17No, your HD DVD player is an HD DVD player. Did your HD movies suddenly stop working?
DRM is in everything, Blu-Ray, HD DVD, Digital files.
Movies are cheaper on blu-ray.
The only reason HD DVD players were so cheap is because they were dying for sales. - chingy1788, on 02/21/2008, -8/+21well the failure rate is not between 15 and 30%
and its a bluray player that can play games - ZenMojo, on 02/21/2008, -8/+21Sony to Xbots: "Eat it, bitches."
- BinaryDelt, on 02/21/2008, -8/+21My 2 days in a tent in 2006 are starting to pay off.
- BinaryDelt, on 02/21/2008, -0/+12I used my PS2 as a DVD player all through college. My roomate used his XBox and then later his XBox 360. Sony has broadened the PS3's market.
- fcekuahd, on 02/21/2008, -1/+13Or to not bother getting an HD player.
- Spytap, on 02/21/2008, -4/+16wi-fi pwns cords for people who don't absolutely need a 10ms less ping time to still kick your ass at UT3. Oh, and also for convenience, and not making their apartment look like a college garage.
Cue the "you're not hardcore enough" gamer bury brigade. - otakushark, on 02/21/2008, -25/+37Today HD-DVD...tomorrow the 360?
Well, maybe next Christmas. - specialK16, on 02/21/2008, -1/+12"The only people that say they don't need HD movies are those without an HDTV or never tried viewing an HD movie."
This is completely true. I don't have an HDTV, but I've seen how amazing things look at 1080p. I also love how hd rips look on my computer screen. If I had the money, I would buy an HDTV for me, my family and my friends. - recruz, on 02/21/2008, -5/+16let's just put it this way ... I had no reason to buy a PS3 until now. But now I am clearly in the market for a PS3. And that is saying a lot considering I have not yet purchased ANY of the next-gen systems.
- GeorgeStone2, on 02/21/2008, -3/+14This is *****.
The $randomConsole is the crappier system.
It doesn't have $features, it's $randomInsult.
Error in /htdoc/fanboy.php on line 2. Undefined variable. - weirdlookinguy, on 02/21/2008, -5/+15Hopefully this is the beginning of Sony kicking ass once more.... like they used to back in the Trinitron days.
- Dracusis, on 02/21/2008, -2/+12You say the add-on player would make sense, then contradict yourself and say it makes no sense when you could just buy a standalone player?
I'm surprised you manage to get out of bed in the morning. - makkaveli19, on 02/21/2008, -1/+11hd dvd isn't microsoft. and sony is only one of the members of the blu-ray association.
