- mywhitenoise, on 01/16/2008, -1/+10I'm glad you're here to tell us these things. I think you've convinced me to sell my PS3 in favor of the 360 for it's killer lineup of PC ports and Halo.
For a minute there I almost took Sonys word of "In-game XMB will arrive in 2008", but I'll take your word over theres. Thanks truspector.
What's your fascination with PS3 diggs anyway? Did you have some traumatizing dream where a bunch of PS3 fanboys circled around you and gave you a facial while making you wear the Spartan helmet? - Heaiser, on 01/16/2008, -0/+9Every console has it's fanboys that go around and make ridiculous arguments against another console. It could be for attention, it could be that they fear their console will become less popular, and it could just be they are jealous of the other consoles features. Whatever the case it is best to just ignore and bury them because they take any chance they can to get into an argument and always leave thinking that they have won. While the rest of us could care less because we are perfectly happy with what we have.
truespector's mommy probably can't afford or just doesn't want to buy him a PS3 so he lashes out against it in hopes that he will feel better about only being able to have one of the consoles. - 000dom000, on 01/16/2008, -0/+8where do you get your stats from. you trolls just pick things out of the air hoping that it will damage the ps3 and that the next time you turn around, your console will still be alive.
- NGliam, on 01/16/2008, -0/+7Anyone that believed those pictures should be ashamed of yourself. If I was going to leak images of an upcoming feature, I would not take the photos from what should be here-from known as the "Fake" angle. That angle is fake.
PS3 in-game XMB are in production (I read in the Sony official magazine, so I guess thats a pretty good source).. lets wait =P - shinythingy, on 01/16/2008, -0/+7You really don't understand anything about the OS do you? I don't have an in depth knowledge about it myself but i do know that the memory footprint is decreasing all the time, even with firmware additions. How would it not wok with past games you *****? The in-game XMB would be part of the OS, and so the games will not be affected even if they did have reserved memory. The memory reserved for the OS is not available to developers and as such it wouldn't have an affect on the game other than being able to play your own music.
- shinythingy, on 01/16/2008, -0/+6it is less than what it was at launch check the latest SDK. The games and dev's do not have access to the RAM used for the OS thus the older games will work perfectly. It will not affect them.
- JayD16, on 01/17/2008, -0/+6You seem to think that the all of that memory is used all time. I really doubt that is true.
- JayD16, on 01/17/2008, -0/+5Also, I don't remember an update ever breaking anything except when they added Upnp which is sort of a linksys problem.
- mungins, on 01/17/2008, -0/+5Way to go... Trying to insult the ps3 in an article that has barely anything to do with the console other than a fake screen shot. wow...
- Zamfir, on 01/16/2008, -2/+6turdinspector has SPOKEN, heed his words wisely!
- shinythingy, on 01/16/2008, -1/+4keep it in one reply. They have to lower it yes, when it has been lowered enough in-game xmb can be created and released.
- 000dom000, on 01/16/2008, -1/+3mywhitenoise = sarcasm
dumbass - triplehelix, on 01/17/2008, -0/+2in truspector's case, i've seriously begun to wonder if the real reason is he actually gets a paycheck for it.
- truspector, on 01/16/2008, -7/+1"I don't have an in depth knowledge about it myself "
You're kidding right?
In order to make past games work, Sony is going to have to reduce the OS memory footprint by a large enough margin to incorporate these new features and still have the total footprint - truspector, on 01/16/2008, -7/+1less than or equal to what it was at launch to make old games work. Add this to the fact that Sony seems to break something with every update and I have the feeling that we'll see in game XMB about the same time we see the PS4.
- truspector, on 01/16/2008, -10/+1"'m glad you're here to tell us these things. I think you've convinced me to sell my PS3 in favor of the 360"
Wow, I think that is the smartest thing I've ever heard you say. - inactive, on 01/16/2008, -11/+0Obviously fake. How could there be an "In-Game XMB" when there are no games on the obviously inferior PS3?
- truspector, on 01/16/2008, -16/+1The PS3 will not get in game XMB due to the huge OS memory footprint the PS3 requires. Even if they figure it out for future games, it isn't going to work for past games where the memory is already reserved. This is the main reason you create a unified system BEFORE launching the console, so you can incorporate features across all games. PS3 = FAIL.
