- Thing2, on 04/03/2008, -7/+73Ummm - why is there a review needed for this? - It's the same controller...but it has Rumblies. There we go - one sentence. -Done-
- mywhitenoise, on 04/03/2008, -17/+70And so did the PS1, and PS2 controllers...so what's your point?
There was a legal problem with Immersion that prohibited the use of rumble at launch. - Obsession88, on 04/03/2008, -4/+45I've had one for a while and really do like it. Nice weight, and the rumble feels just right. Plus the battery isn't bad at all.
- daninspokane, on 04/03/2008, -5/+32Yea, it had a sweet rumble pak, you had to buy... and plug in.. taking up the expansion slot on the controller.
- evozero, on 04/03/2008, -3/+27uhh.. no.
the wiimote + nunchuk is $59.98 and the ps3 controller includes a rechargeable battery. - crunshii, on 04/03/2008, -1/+23Im just glad they brought it in time for GTA4, MGS4 and LBP.

- danjal, on 04/03/2008, -2/+15Can't wait to get mine, the one the original feels like its going to snap.. it just feels too light.
- AresDiggs, on 04/03/2008, -5/+17Agreed.. ordered mine from japan along time ago... feels heavier but i like that better then the cheap feel of the original... Rumble is what you would expect and battery life is fine.
- inactive, on 04/03/2008, -6/+18Calling people "kiddies", yet you use the same kind of Animu emoticons that 12 year olds do? Get a life.
- v0yeur, on 04/03/2008, -2/+14I picked one up in Japan also, and it's far better.
What wasn't mentioned anywhere was that the thumb analog sticks are actually a heck of a lot easier to push in and don't make that loud CLICK! so in a game like COD4, it's far more responsive to sprint and whip out that knife.
the reviewer is right tho, it really IS how it should have been from the start. - jamesmcq24, on 04/03/2008, -7/+19nope, legal problem, new dualshock 3 still has motion sensing
- sint4x, on 04/03/2008, -3/+14Exactly, which is why I am excited that my controller finally has it.
- mywhitenoise, on 04/03/2008, -4/+14That's exactly what a legal problem is you dumbass.
- AvidPreatorian, on 04/03/2008, -8/+18rumble wasn't included because of a patent issues along with disruption to sixaxis sensors. get over it, it's here, it's light, and it doesnt have an ugly battery pack sticking out from beneath it - im looking at you xbox
- namtellum, on 04/03/2008, -2/+12Cool. Any other absolutely pointless information?
- frogman54, on 04/03/2008, -0/+10I give up. You all win. The PS3 controller is magnificent. It has no flaws and when rumble comes it will be the preferred controller of Jesus himself. The sixaxis works perfectly and the trigger buttons are on par with an actual gun.
- MiDri, on 04/03/2008, -1/+10To zero with all of you!
- inactive, on 04/03/2008, -3/+12anything and everything is free game. 82 is a stupid number BTW.
- spiffyfitz, on 04/03/2008, -2/+11I just want the boomerang controller :)
- rusty123jimi, on 04/03/2008, -1/+10They were patched into the games around the time DS3 was released in Japan last year.
- CarzorStelatis, on 04/03/2008, -0/+7Er... the DualShock 3 has been public knowledge for months, why'd you buy a Sixaxis?
- mywhitenoise, on 04/03/2008, -1/+8You win the "most annoying comment of the day" award.
- geartype2, on 04/03/2008, -1/+8you really should look into the lawsuit, it was borderline patent trolling. MS and Nintendo should have both fought it with Sony instead of just paying out.
- LethalGeek, on 04/03/2008, -2/+8"along with disruption to sixaxis sensors" You know that's a load of ***** Sony fed the public until said patent issues were resolved, right?
- Phillycat81, on 04/03/2008, -3/+9I thought rumble was last gen technology? Sony lied to me!!!
- Recusant, on 04/03/2008, -0/+6I THINK rumble has always been an annoyance rather than a feature of console controls.*
And I'm sure a majority of gamers would disagree. - jamesmcq24, on 04/03/2008, -7/+12thanks xbox fanboy, go screw your add on HD DVD player
- diggrim, on 04/03/2008, -6/+11No Call of Duty 4?!
- Recusant, on 04/03/2008, -3/+8You can't remember a circle, square, triangle and an X? Is it really THAT hard...?
- diggB, on 04/03/2008, -2/+7So, let me get this straight. Games that were first release when the PS3 first came out (i.e. Resistance Fall of Man) already had the rumble feature built in even though the SIX AXIS didn't support it? Or, perhaps these older games require a patch for the rumble feature to work.
- Sinnn, on 04/03/2008, -3/+7The 360's d-pad is horrible which makes it fail, imo. Can't have a good controller without a good d-pad.
- iamtad, on 04/03/2008, -1/+5Funny thing is - you can.
- xlneoMAXlx, on 04/03/2008, -2/+6Review 3: PlayStation 3 DualShock 3 Rumble 3 Controller 3
- inactive, on 04/04/2008, -0/+4Dugg for Rumblies
- inactive, on 04/03/2008, -6/+10I can easily say the XBOX controller isn't as comfortable as the PS2/3 controller. People are allowed to have different preferences, weird, I know.
- SSCrow, on 04/03/2008, -7/+11It was another one of Sony's ***** PR responses. They would never admit that was the actual reason why they didn't have it.
- Shadow82v, on 04/03/2008, -2/+5...And in the controller.
- dandonia, on 04/03/2008, -1/+4where did you plug the memory card when the rumble pack was in? I really can't remember.
- MatchStick, on 04/05/2008, -0/+3ok, when are ps3s gonna start shipping w/ dualshock3? do i have to wait 4 the mgs4 package or do all new ps3s come w/ it?
- Bungo, on 04/03/2008, -3/+6I don't think many people got the Captain Jack reference. :P
- thecrazyd, on 04/03/2008, -2/+5I know it received a lot of flack due to it's looks, but it was a much more comfortable controller, and made more ergonomic sense. It allowed you to keep your hands in a more natural position while playing.
- jamesmcq24, on 04/03/2008, -2/+5exactly
- staticneuron, on 04/03/2008, -3/+6Nintendo was never sued because they used one motor in their controller. MS paid up then turned around and purchased a portion of the company that was suing them.
Sony was the only ones sticking up for their engineers. Patents should be more specific when created instead of leaving broad descriptions to describe a technology. - dansmeek, on 04/03/2008, -3/+6god, i know. i actually began to replay games i hadn't played in ages when i first got mine (imported from Japan) and I was hoping COD4 was supported. And waited for a patch. I assume that one of the reasons is COD4 isn't big in Japan (where the rumble controller was only officially available).
Hopefully now that it's out in the US, Activision/IW will add some support. Also, Orange Box doesn't support rumble. And neither does DiRT. But pretty much every other high-quality game does. - jo21, on 04/03/2008, -0/+3they were sued.
- craterburnsu, on 04/03/2008, -3/+5So let me get this right; Your 360, a toy, shouldn't feel like a toy?
- bigteebo, on 04/03/2008, -2/+4So they are going to the software version labelling system, but with words instead of periods?
- patm1987, on 04/03/2008, -1/+3You didn't, you had to unplug the rumble pack and plug in the memory card. I did have a rumble pack that had a switch to toggle between the rumble and the mem-card and had an extra slot for a memory card, but the whole assembly became large and unwieldy.
