- 2Deluxe, on 02/27/2008, -5/+55Finally! I love the PSStores but the UI is just garbage. Something a little less browser and a lot more polished would be hot.
- mywhitenoise, on 02/27/2008, -2/+41Press L1.
- Topher06, on 02/27/2008, -5/+32I hope they implement actual software rather then a web based interface. The PS3 web browser is the weakest link on the system and implementing the store front using web pages is really klunky. Come on Sony, I know you can get it right the third (or is it fourth) time.
- WiburTN, on 08/14/2009, -3/+282008 is the year of the PS3...with the games they have on the way and Blu-Ray now declared king Sony can finally pwn some fools.
And this is from a 360 owner... - WhereAmI, on 02/27/2008, -5/+27At least they got that wonderful XMB right. Always confused me how the XMB is so slick and fast but there is the PSN store...with all its low resolution and small on colors glory.
- etruscan, on 02/27/2008, -1/+22I just feel like the options in the PS Store need to be more accessible and layed out better. There should be a list of games, and if you click on it, it gives you info on that game, trailers, and if there's a downloadable demo - that too. They should have filters so you can see the various game types, for the various platforms, and then they should approach trailers and such the same way.
- inactive, on 02/27/2008, -2/+22Don't forget that all the iterations were free. Free, I say!
- amrush4th, on 02/27/2008, -7/+21The current store is like the fat chick that gave BJ's in high school. It serves its purpose but is really ugly and you only go there if you have no other choice.
- volacide, on 02/27/2008, -3/+16Awesome. Sony may get it wrong at first but at least it's good to see them making an effort to fix things.
- paulsmith288, on 02/27/2008, -2/+13I am reasonably happy with the store. Dont buy much and only use if for d/l demos. Does the job pretty well.
- grat2001, on 02/27/2008, -1/+10Thanks!
- abhinavkumar, on 02/27/2008, -2/+10Good news, the current format is somewhat clunky.
- dualityim, on 02/27/2008, -3/+11Because Firefox is both fast and light on memory usage.
Oh wait a minute... - KROmphroy, on 02/27/2008, -1/+9Looking forward to a good fix, kudos to Sony for manning up and shaking it up (hopefully for the better).
- inactive, on 02/27/2008, -10/+17Say good bye to that defective hunk of *****. Bring on the PS3s!!!
- theaceoffire, on 02/27/2008, -3/+9For me, the thing I most enjoyed: Hold down X to open in a new window, hold down 0 to close current window.
^_^;;; took me way too long to figure that one out. - GhostRican, on 02/27/2008, -1/+7Thank goodness, that thing couldn't be clunkier if it tried. Sony can learn a lot from Xbox Live here.
- faizal5k, on 02/27/2008, -1/+6like mywhitenoise said, just press the L1 button and the page automatically goes back. The PSStore is just a regular webpage, so hitting L1 is like hitting backspace on a keyboard.
- jsin1276, on 02/27/2008, -2/+6This is good news to hear as it is way overdue for a better interface. Maybe now I might actually browse the store.
- boldfire, on 02/27/2008, -3/+5I always find myself pressing O to go to the previous page, it makes sense for that to work for me. But it quits out of the store instead. I'd like them to perhaps adjust this in the refresh. Kudos anyway to Sony for improving a free service.
- mrgreen4242, on 02/27/2008, -0/+2Is Sony selling PS2 games as downloadables for the PS3 yet? I know they yanked backward compatibility from the cheaper model, and I remember hearing some talk about this awhile back. MS is selling Xbox titles on their Live Arcade or whatever they call it and I really like it. I'd STRONGLY consider a PS3 if I could buy PS2 "greatest hits" online for $10-20 (the the 40gb model got down to $299).
- JudgeMonkey, on 02/27/2008, -0/+2Are you an absolute retard, or do you just fake it well?
- Ghiren, on 02/27/2008, -1/+3Haha... I thought the same thing, then I saw that the update would be 2 weeks late. Looks to me like this is for real, and LONG overdue. It'll be interesting to see how it compares to XBox Marketplace or Wii's Virtual Console store.
- KenDigg, on 02/27/2008, -1/+3I don't have any real complaints about the PSN store. This could possibly be because I don't have much to compare it to. If I were to make a suggestion, I'd like the option to start all downloads paused.
At my house, our wireless network is constantly being fought over my the desktop PC, a laptop or two, my son's Wii, and my PS3. If I am adding store downloads during one of these massive bandwidth battles, I find myself adding a download, exiting the store to pause it, and entering the store again to chose the next one. If downloads started paused, it would save me a bit of aggravation. - MrFisty, on 02/28/2008, -0/+2I think he's looking for a "instant digg" card to play:
*Thumbs through comment response options*
"Nintendo... no. Apple... no. Yahtzee... no. Firefox... yep, that fits"
*Sits back, has a stretch and waits for diggs...* - WhereAmI, on 02/27/2008, -1/+2Now only if Bethseda would follow Epic's example and allow mods on the PS3.
- JayD16, on 02/28/2008, -0/+1To all those people who say the PS store UI is unusable are you guys talking about the standard def UI or the 1080p one? When you have an HDTV the store gets formatted to make use of all that space and its really 10 times better then the standard def store and have no problem with it at all. Is everyone complaining about the cramped SD store or both the SD and HD layouts?
- gettarat, on 11/06/2008, -0/+1Awesome, I've always hated navigating it.
http://jewelrydiamondrings.org/ - IndigoMoss, on 02/27/2008, -3/+4Oblivion for PC is 100 times better. So many great mods out there for it. Like Thieves Tools, where you get a vine arrows (so you can climb onto buildings), oil arrows (shoots oil on the ground so enemies slip and fall), Sleep arrows, and noisemaker arrows (makes noise). That's just one example of a mod that makes the game so much better. I'd be nice if the 360 supported mods, because to me, it'd be 1/2 the game without them.
- MrFisty, on 02/28/2008, -0/+1That's not good news. Oh, the comma.
- Synthesize, on 02/27/2008, -2/+3Nice, but where is in-game XMB?
- AvidPreatorian, on 02/27/2008, -1/+2i would watch out for lighting if i walked in your shoes
- JagoX, on 02/27/2008, -0/+1It's just like a webpage...which is why it sucks. If I wanted to browse a webpage to buy something then I would use a PC or a Mac...but since this is on a game console they need to make it readable for a TV.
- inactive, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1Hitting X will bring you back only when the back link is selected.
- cthellis, on 02/27/2008, -1/+2Well that would certainly be good. I mean, the interface is passable (and better in many ways than "just a big list,") but it's still slow-moving, unintuitive, and doesn't make good use of screen real estate.
- viewofeverlast, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1You're right. With a current library of under 400 titles, it can't compete with DVD's library, which i believe is somewhere near 80,000 titles. Just because it is superior technology doesn't necessarily mean it will take over as the most popular home media format. Just look at laser disc...
- staticneuron, on 02/27/2008, -1/+2Tis a shame I didn't know these things.
- blackhole82, on 02/27/2008, -1/+2The current store could be better, but it really doesn't bother me that much.
- inactive, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1I hate Live's interface, most unintuitive interface I've ever used.
- inactive, on 03/01/2008, -1/+1All they need is to add a search engine.
- viewofeverlast, on 02/27/2008, -1/+1It kind of does... click on the rightmost tab, i think it says "All".
You get sections based on the first letter the title starts with, then when you select a title, you get anything having to do with it, videos, themes, dlc, demos, etc. - matt0r, on 02/27/2008, -2/+2expecially?
- WhereAmI, on 02/27/2008, -1/+1Use folders, they exist on the XMB. I don't know about your streaming software but I use MediaTomb and it has it organized into nice folders that my PS3 can recognize.
- cthellis, on 02/27/2008, -2/+2The XMB is great and fast, but still needs an organizational overhaul for your pictures, music, and videos (and expecially streaming from other sources) if it wants to be seriously considered as a media extender.
- WhereAmI, on 02/27/2008, -2/+2I thought Blu-Ray had no competition...
- lolo2007, on 06/27/2008, -0/+0Hopefully someone with an interaction design background is working on this thing. In the current store the X button will sometimes bring you 'back' and at all other times goes nuclear. It's almost as if the Store was entirely driven by Photoshop mockups and not prototyping.
