- Responder656, on 10/10/2007, -2/+41So does this allow controlling of your dragon without motion sensing? If so, this is big news.
- volacide, on 10/10/2007, -17/+45You know contrary to popular belief Lair is actually really fun if you actually give it a chance and some time to get used to the controls. It took me the first 2 levels but by the 3rd level I was having no trouble at all. Slow down if you want to make tighter corners or completely stop and hover and manuever if you just want to pivot and head in a different direction.
It's just a matter of understanding the controls and like anything it takes time to get used to. I know I wasn't as good as I am now with dual analog sticks as I was when they first came out.
Of course it's not for everyone and the lock on at times still leaves more to be desired but I really think it deserves more than a 4/10, it seems like the reviewers didn't even want to give it a chance once they knew it was SIXAXIS only. "***** hell I have to actually adapt to a new style of play!?!" - lacronicus, on 10/10/2007, -4/+30wow! an unexplained exploit that streams a console game to a portable doesn't work perfectly, even though it was never designed to in the first place? what an insight.
dugg down for flame baiting and blatant ignorance. - dasdef, on 10/10/2007, -18/+44Yes, this is big news, very surprising. But I can't help but wonder this wasnt announced or even discovered by reviewers.. Either way though, this is a huge surprise and I cant wait to see where Sony is going to take Remote Play. PS3 FTW (i love my xbox 360 and wii dearly, but PS3 will probably reign supreme in the 08-09 term.)
- cajie, on 10/10/2007, -1/+24If more games start supporting this feature, it opens up interesting possibilities to take your PS3 games on the road (or to work :))
- Jeffler, on 10/10/2007, -1/+22You're all idiots.
- slaystench, on 10/10/2007, -0/+19Of course most people on Digg fail to see the bigger picture here, and instead focus on Lair being a bad game and not how sweet this feature is.
- Sniper, on 10/10/2007, -2/+21Wow, you really need to get a life.
- shinythingy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19I've heard a lot of people say the same thing as you an that it more like a 7 or 8 than 4.9
- volacide, on 10/10/2007, -4/+19Yeah, the really funny and strange part about it is that if anyones read the IGN review they specifically call out level 4, the bridge level as being the most frustrating level that basically broke the game for them.
Well interestingly enough when I was playing through the game I wasn't really enjoying Lair all that much on level 1 and level 2, as I said, it takes getting used to. 3 Was a bit more fun, the scenery was nicer and I was starting to get used to the controls better, but by level 4, the level that I expected may brake it for me as well, was actually the level that had me first smiling and really enjoying the game while I was playing.
I was playing the 4th level and for the first time I said "holy ***** that was cool" to myself. I didn't have any trouble locking on to the rhinos and other animals on the ground like they did on IGN, the game was really good about locking onto high priority targets and therefore I didn't have any problems.
So yeah, It's pretty funny how I ended up really loving the 4th level and that being the first one to really bring out my enjoyment in it. I'm on like Level 8 or 9 or something and it's been a blast ever since then. I wouldn't say it's a triple A title or anything amazing, but it's definitely some good fun to be had. I'd say it's good, but not great but the control scheme will definitely make or break it for you, and I'm not a huge SIXAXIS supporter, I just happen to have no problem with it in Lair.
To each there own I guess... - xTRUMANx, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17Punks like you SlamShut don't deserve to be blocked. I want to digg down every comment, on whatever story I see you comment in for being a troll.
- themacx, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15call me when GTA does the same :-p
- Foxhound1979, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13I think Factor 5 thought about remote play but its almost like they decided not to go through with it. Instead of taking the feature completely out they left it in. I played Lair on my PSP and it was still frustrating to control the dragon. The only thing that I can say that this is exciting stuff. This is a preview of what is possible with the PS3 and PSP.
- xTRUMANx, on 10/10/2007, -3/+16Are you always a jackass or just love being a troll. This isn't a feature added into the game but exploit of sorts. Think ahead of the possible uses for this.
- Optimaximal, on 10/10/2007, -5/+18Because a review is just someone elses opinion. It's more of a guideline than a rule, you sheep.
- Andrewe1, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14Yeah I can confirm this works, I imagine that it would be very laggy if I try it outside my home network, but right now its not about the game, its about the possibilities this can bring.
Imagine being able to virtually bring your ps3 anywhere, and with the new psp, you can just connect it to a tv near you and play your ps3. - Sniper, on 10/10/2007, -12/+24It takes some time to get used to the controls, but once you do the game is really good.
- dualscreenman, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11One thing the PSP has going for it is screen res. The DS is low-res. Compared to the DS the PSP is a dream resolution-wise.
...never thought I'd see the day where I'd defend the PSP. - cam2009, on 10/10/2007, -5/+15What are you people complaining about? You can play all your games on the PS3 like you usually do, or you can use this optional feature of playing it on your PSP. They aren't depriving you of anything, and they aren't forcing you to do this. Imagine buying a PS3 game, then being able to play it on either your TV, or on the subway or at work. Stop focusing on Lair being a crappy game, this is huge news. I could actually see it bring the PSP back to life, there's definitely possibilities here. Lets hope Sony uses them.
- lepton, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9This is great but shouldn't be such a shocker. Sony added remote play ability in one of the early updates. Before that, you couldn't even see game icons. After that you could see them, but selecting a game said the game was not compatible with remote play. Lair is the first game to support it. Cool! As for control, I don't have Lair but try using buttons as a shift, for example hold Square while using the analog stick to see if it shifts the function of the stick. Some PSP games handle things like this, so maybe they have additional controls enabled in this way.
- Foxhound1979, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Dugg down for being full of *****. What we game can I access via a DS and Wii connection while I am at work or on the road??
- Foxhound1979, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Not a fake as I tried it myself. Only difference is the L1 and R1 button cannot be used on the PSP.
- benitojuarez, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10If its real i think its kinda neat in terms of future exploitation.
- nymphetamine, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8In case you missed it, there's a video showing the guy playing it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mASdFCTNA7I
- xTRUMANx, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10Anti sony comment are buried, pro sony comments are buried. Digg confuses me.
- gutterboy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8It doesn't take much imagination to picture how many diggs this story would have if it were Wii "Far Cry Vengance" can be remote played on DS! (it got a 4.0) It would be top story, loads of teary eyed comments of the true innovation of Nintendo. For ***** sake people!! Your console at your house can be played anywhere in the world (wifi hotspot). Drop the fanboy crap and give Sony some credit. This opens up massive possibilities.
- aegis9975, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11Seems a lot of people that haven't played Lair (or likely even own a PS3) are bashing the game. If you play the game, its actually decent, but hasn't lived up to the hype. However, the real subject here is being able to play PS3 games anywhere on your PSP. You can imagine, as new games arrive that support remote play it allow you to play your home console anywhere; a PS3P if you will. However, turn-based/RPG/etc type games will probably best match this capability.
- Sniper, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Yes, but you won't be able to use the L2+R2 buttons
- aaronm67, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8This thread highlights why Digg is going to the ***** hole.
- Foxhound1979, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Congrats!!! You just described what remote play is dumbass. PSP sending commands as button presses (like a remote control) to the PS3...Sounds like remote play to me.I here by name you captain pointing out the obvious
- JayD16, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7So I guess when the subject is "Bluray isn't needed" these are great ideas but when Sony leads the charge they suck huh?
Why am I an idiot? No really, someone explain. Whats bad about wanting to play Warhawk while waiting for the bus. - kenvsryu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Mainichi Issho from Japan is another game that allows Remote Play.
http://ps3mods.blogspot.com/2007/09/lair-psp-remote-play.html - Sniper, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Theres a thing called the PSP Slim which has video out. Not quite the same, but still lets you display PSP games on a bigger screen. Though I'm not sure why you'd want to stretch a 480 x 272 picture on a 1080P screen.
- Foxhound1979, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Of course other Fanboys are not just gong to acknowledge this fact. As I said I am excited with this news as it shows future possibilities for PSP and PS3 pwners.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I bet that would have been possible, had it stayed an exclusive. I don't think Rockstar will give the extra effort, though.
- yournamehere, on 10/10/2007, -7/+12you're an idiot.
- Jholder112233, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Motorstorm needs R2 to accelerate though :P
- xTRUMANx, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I was thinking that would have been the case. Most of the IGN review was focused on how the controls were ruining the game which made me wonder if the controls were fine how much of the game would they have had a problem with. They did mention some graphic issues and repetitive gameplay though.
- dys2k7, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6because with the thing we call internet you can play your PS3 stuff on the PSP ANYWHERE if you have wifi connection for remote play.
- cajie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Really? I have a PS3, Wii, 2 PSP's and 1 DS.
Care to explain what you mean? - staticneuron, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5This time its more about people speculating on the future of this feature/exploit and the anti-sony zealots trying to bash lair.... evne though the game isn't really the point.
- Shirt, on 10/10/2007, -6/+10You shouldn't have to get used to the controls. They should feel natural and responsive, and Lair's don't, plain and simple.
If you like it that's fine, but it's a general consensus that they suck. - mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6For the last time, it isn't $600 anymore...well the 60GB isn't.
- dscomeau, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4amen brother.
- yaknowit, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6so do we count that as a reply then?
- blocguy, on 10/10/2007, -5/+9I think it's the concept of being able to play your PS3 games anywhere is what people are digging it for (if you're not and you're just digging it for the sake of your £400 purchase, you're a tool).
- oniq, on 10/10/2007, -5/+8How exactly are you going to be able to STREAM the game to your PSP if you are on the subway?
- NeoTechni, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You don't even have to be in the same country as the PS3 while using Remote Play
- BlauAngel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3i like ur way of thinking.
- Foxhound1979, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4You probably don't even have a PSP. And if your no one is making you play LAIR on your PSP (if you own one). Just pointing out the fact that this feature does exist.
