- XorpheusX, on 01/07/2008, -3/+41GPS on PSP @ CES? OMG
- kspraydad, on 01/07/2008, -3/+24A day one purchase for me.
I don't travel enough to have a full fledged GPS so having an option on the PSP that is always with me it great. - pronouncable, on 01/07/2008, -2/+18FTW
- Shippwreck87, on 01/07/2008, -0/+14With this GPS announcement on top of already knowing about Crisis Core, Chains of Olympus, all the emulation possibilities, music options, it being a f***ing phone, and more; it would be stupid of me NOT to get a PSP. Go Sony! Sorry I never saw the possibilities before.
- smackafiyah, on 01/07/2008, -1/+13MP3 player, movie player, internet radio, emulator machine, GPS? This thing gets more and more useful everyday.
- isewise, on 01/07/2008, -0/+12I wouldn't say that, the GPS device has been out for a long time in Japan way before the slim came out.
- inactive, on 01/07/2008, -3/+11I bought mine for the games.
- inactive, on 01/07/2008, -4/+12Get your ***** act together. Go to gamerankings or metacritic and guess what it tells you?
PSP has a better library of games than the DS
You *****. - TjLAXattack, on 01/07/2008, -0/+8This is awesome... PSP was a great present this year. Though I hate to keep spending money, I mostly use my PSP in the car (while someone else drives or vice versa) so the GPS add-on will be nice.
- Nobi-Wan, on 01/07/2008, -1/+9The games on the PSP pretty much take that into account. It's really not noticeable.
- sterni, on 01/07/2008, -0/+7I hope it works for the PSP FAT too.. Once I find a mount for it and its an instant MP3, Video, GPS device for my car !!!
- letterman, on 01/07/2008, -0/+7It's possible to unbrick your PSP using a special battery. Look online for more info.
- Orion682, on 01/07/2008, -0/+6Look up "Pandora Battery" if you have a friend with a homebrewed PSP handy. You can turn a battery and a memory stick into an unbricker and reflash your PSP's firmware from it.
Coot stuff. - inactive, on 01/07/2008, -0/+6The japanese one works with the non-slim.
- ShrimpCrackers, on 01/07/2008, -0/+5In fact the GPS device came out months after the original PSP "Fat" came out. I don't see why they would specifically add software to detect your PSP slim and then exclude older PSP owners
- Orion682, on 01/07/2008, -0/+5"Finally" because it's been out in Japan since forever...
- inactive, on 01/07/2008, -0/+4Especially since the japanese one works on non-slims
- chkdg8, on 01/07/2008, -2/+6GPS is already available for the psp:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcMtlEFCZSo - akkuma, on 01/07/2008, -1/+5If you lower it down again to 75+ like I did it is 103 PSP to 86 DS. TRULY great games is completely subjective. A lot of people could prefer some of those 75-85 range games over some of the 85+
Additionally, when you start thinking about all the convergence you can get out of a PSP the bang for the buck is pretty high if you don't even intend to play games on it. I might be crazy, but I think there is a device that could touch the price point for all the things it is doing right now. - nicktx, on 01/07/2008, -5/+9Let me guess - PSP slim only? /pout
- Microdot, on 01/07/2008, -1/+5ditto what he said. depending on the price... i will be standing in line on day 1 as well. (hopefully this is going to follow the japanese price point of around $60. if so, i will be extremely pleased)
- thedak, on 01/07/2008, -0/+4MGS: Portable Ops has it covered.
- zetsurin, on 01/07/2008, -0/+4Yeah, I'll just keep on playing Final Fantasy Tactics while you tell me I can't be enjoying my PSP. Then I'll continue with all the other AAA games I have for it.
- zetsurin, on 01/07/2008, -0/+4Yeah, because ALL car navi systems use touchscreens NOT.
- zetsurin, on 01/07/2008, -0/+3What a stupid post. It smells of one of those things that someone posts because they think someone might be able to turn it into something funny. Game over moron.
- zetsurin, on 01/07/2008, -0/+3"yup,..."
False and besides, the kind of making you buy again would actually be Nintendo. Funny how they get praise for exactly this behaviour. - Orion682, on 01/07/2008, -1/+4I bought mine for the billion things homebrew enables it to do...
- JJVH, on 01/07/2008, -0/+3Yes, once you get into the homebrew, the psp is an amazing little toy. I play mine all the time.
- 000dom000, on 01/07/2008, -0/+3i also assume it's coming in europe at the same time, judging from the screen being in london...
- gotcheaprice, on 01/07/2008, -2/+5Alright, selling my psp now... Getting the slim when it's on sale
- DiggzDE, on 01/07/2008, -1/+3THANK GOD. I held onto my psp since day one it came out. Even after I stopped using it over a year ago in hopes of this. I was severely disappointed when it was put on hold for U.S. release and even called into Sony US and asked them about any information on it. They had none (that was over 6 months ago). I just about gave up hope that it would ever be released for the U.S. and almost sold my psp but I'm glad I did not.
- EdwardsNH, on 01/07/2008, -1/+3WTF?
- NeoTEKK, on 01/08/2008, -0/+2Derr...Good?
- WaRdRivR, on 01/07/2008, -0/+2I'm kinda pissed now that i imported the GPS. Damn I could really use that UMD software though!!!
- shinythingy, on 01/07/2008, -0/+2DS2 is out it's called the DS Lite
- toefer, on 01/07/2008, -0/+2Well on the one I have, it kind of says both, like "In 300 yards, turn right on Abe Lincoln Ave"
- dsmx, on 01/07/2008, -3/+5Games that need a second analogue stick shouldn't be put on the psp, simple as that.
- inactive, on 01/07/2008, -0/+2And Hot Shots.
- Orion682, on 01/07/2008, -2/+4Because the DS has no gimmicks right? ;)
- ussoldier, on 01/07/2008, -0/+2Not as interesting as Skype for PSP. http://pspupdates.qj.net/First-screenshot-of-Skype ... Or the homebrew SIP psp phone app that just came out http://pspupdates.qj.net/Fanjita-Noobz-release-Fur ...
Or even PSPtube, which rocks.. streaming Youtube video with a sweet interface to it all... I've been using it for some time now: http://pspupdates.qj.net/PSPTube-20080106-now-out- ...
Sony announce their coming out soon with a 16gb duostick... how does that rock your PSP world? - Zoids, on 01/07/2008, -1/+3Guess what the "g" in GPS stands for?
- NeoTEKK, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1Burried for inaccuracy. 42 year olds don't love PSP's.
J/k - props man. :) I am 26 yrs. old and wish to be like you when I reach that age. - o0joshua0o, on 01/07/2008, -0/+1A game should be made that takes advantage of this.
- hansolo007, on 01/07/2008, -1/+2Keep your non-slim PSP, too early to say it's just for the slim only.
- NeoTEKK, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1*whew* Thanks for pointing out that you use your psp "while someone else drives".
- NeoTEKK, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1Thaank you.
- moduc, on 01/07/2008, -0/+1There's a good and bad for both way. One indicates how far off. The other indicate which one (which you don't know when to anticipate the move). I think it should use distance for a farther away turn, and street name for closer turn. Maybe 3 options: smart, distance, street name turn.
- NeoTEKK, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1LOL
- dasdef, on 01/07/2008, -9/+10fanboys say the silliest things
- Acqua206, on 01/07/2008, -1/+2Hrm, I hope it does turn by turn directions as in "Turn right on 5th Avenue", not "Turn right in 500ft". It makes a world of difference, believe it or not, especially when you have streets close to each other. It is not wise to look at your GPS too often.
I have a Garmin Nuvi 350 that does the job fairly well, except sometimes it will try to make an 1.5 hour trip out of a 30 minute one by making the stupidest routes. If PSP does indeed do turn by turn I will sell this Garmin in a heartbeat and pick me up a PSP and a gps. -
