- NineT9mustang, on 03/20/2008, -12/+79Yay! 2GB Limit for Divx/HD movie files removed!
Now I can watch all them sexy HD Movies & TV Shows!
This Sony news keeps getting better and better, 2008, teh year of the Sony! - badjokes, on 03/20/2008, -11/+76I'm buying a PS3 this year.
- etruscan, on 03/20/2008, -3/+49Even better is the speed increase for the PS3 internet browser. Thank the lord.
- kanariya, on 03/20/2008, -0/+30Resume play - Yes!
- jrattner1, on 03/20/2008, -2/+30Now if only the webbrowser included support for the latest version of flash. Then all of us could enjoy the plot-rich movies located on youporn and redtube....
- Sparke, on 03/20/2008, -5/+30Sony: This is a great update! Give me DTS-MA and in-game XMB soon and I will love you forever.
- zengonzo, on 03/20/2008, -2/+25I really like playing my own music whenever I want during a game. Some games I don't, like Condemned 2, because you already have great atmosphere ..
But Pain, or Burnout, say, would be much better with my own soundtrack.
It's not a dealbreaker, but it is a small feature that would have a huge impact how the console is used. The sooner they add it, the better non-exclusive games will look on the PS3. - craterburnsu, on 03/20/2008, -1/+24"-- PS3 system's Internet browser will be enhanced: Video files directly
linked from a Web page will be able to be streamed, and the browser's
view speed will be improved."
That would be awesome if stage6 were still around. - SkippyDoorknob, on 03/20/2008, -1/+23Blame Adobe for that. The Wii browser has the same problem because Adobe hasn't released an updated SDK
- hadiz, on 03/20/2008, -15/+36Wait for the obligatory "What, no in-game XMB?!??" post. Seriously, just be happy we have been continually fed new features free of charge. We all know in-game XMB is coming, just be patient.
- ilves7, on 03/20/2008, -0/+18I apologize beforehand for my ignorance and will probably get buried for this (i'm a mostly pc gamer), but what does XMB stand for?
- ausfahrt, on 03/20/2008, -0/+18GOW Chains Of Olympus get with it already.
- dheaddy, on 03/20/2008, -5/+22Ah, the bitter HD-DVD early adopters have come out at last
- bluesyncopate, on 03/20/2008, -3/+19PS3 is looking better and better. That said... the day alternate endings, special features and commentaries become "purchasable content" above and beyond the price of the disc is the day I stop buying them. Because the new media business model seems to be measured in nickels and dimes...
- davidjunit, on 03/20/2008, -4/+18Well it's about time! I was getting tired of my PS3's same boring old ringtone. HHMPH!
- samdu, on 03/20/2008, -0/+13"the PS3 can't do bitsteam audio."
Since when? It can't do DTS-HD over BitStream - yet - but it most certainly can output BitStream audio. - mywhitenoise, on 03/20/2008, -2/+15It hasn't even been out 2 years. Wii and PS3 came out November 2006.
- samdu, on 03/20/2008, -0/+12Another way to look at, though, is that $40 is almost a new game. And it IS a used game. So you could buy another game a year if you didn't have to pay the $40 a year for something that PC gamers have always gotten for free anyway.
- mywhitenoise, on 03/20/2008, -2/+14I'd play Motorstorm more if I didn't have to listen to Slipknot.
- JayD16, on 03/20/2008, -0/+12I never understood why LIVE charged you for things PC gamers got for free (i.e. online play and match making) and then gave all the things that make LIVE not a rip off, for free. It would feel like much less of a screw job if you could always play online and then advanced stats or ingame chat is what you get charged for.
- AvidPreatorian, on 03/20/2008, -3/+15i love this machine
- dansmeek, on 03/20/2008, -1/+13Sony's support for the PS3 has been exceptional. I fully expect features that gamers want (like Skype) to be included in future updates as well. The 'largest organized internet hate campaign' against Sony for the PS3 may have paid off in the long run -- we keep getting great feature after feature.
And I am positive we'd have XMB by now if it wasn't a very difficult task to program because of the architecture of the PS3 and user's love of this feature that Sony never thought of. But I do think it will come, and I do think it will be a fully-realized XMB with perhaps even nicer things that we wouldn't expect. Which is why it's taking so long.
If Sony has been able to get developers to have in-game commuication and in-game music (its technically using the XMB, but must be specifically coded into the game) then I think Sony could have rushed out a half-assed in-game XMB. I think they want to debut a perfect in-game XMB that integrates with home as well. - bigbadgoat, on 03/20/2008, -1/+13as if the hard drive or memory card is really an accessory.
$120 20 gig hard drive, $200 120 gig hard drive or $60 memory card if I want to save my game.
You make it sound like its an option to do something so fundamental to game play.
(Yes, I know the arcade now ships with a memory card, but theres at least 3-4 million xbox 360 owners that had to spend another $60 at least to be able to simply save their game) - samdu, on 03/20/2008, -1/+12Um, no... the firmware update, like ALL PS3 firmware updates, is free.
- shinythingy, on 03/20/2008, -5/+16Over priced MS accessories is a deal breaker for me
- bigbadgoat, on 03/20/2008, -0/+11Ohh I'm sorry, last time I played a PC game at full specs I had to ***** around with specific configurations with my graphics card that cost me close on $500 for over an hour and it was a royal pain in the ass.
It might not be as powerful as a top of the line gaming PC, by my PS3 works incredibly right out of the box, and I never have to worry about how well my PS3 will play a game made for the PS3.
That, to me, is worth about 1/3 the price tag of a decent gaming. - spacebuddy, on 03/20/2008, -2/+12I am so happy I got a PS3.
- Anillusion, on 03/20/2008, -2/+12Wow, I'm really curious about the BD-Live functionality. But are there already discs released or announced that have this functionality?
- Daniel591992, on 03/20/2008, -3/+13And which one do you pay for?
- namtellum, on 03/20/2008, -2/+12Like what for example?
- vancanucksfan, on 03/20/2008, -1/+11too bad HD-DVD is dead
- FormatC, on 03/20/2008, -0/+10Next Week is FInal Fantasy VII Crisis Core as well
- samdu, on 03/20/2008, -0/+10Yes. Because the US retailer he would be purchasing it from doesn't get a dime. :|
- ProKid, on 03/20/2008, -0/+9Yeah lets pay 300 for a cpu, gpu, bluray drive. Another 300 for memory and motherboard. And then more money year after year so we can continue to play new games. Thats true gaming right there.
- bigbadgoat, on 03/20/2008, -1/+10No, he's a fanboy for his 273289282902903902093 other posts where he either blatantly lies about something supposed wrong with the PS3 while he glorifies the xbox 360 and ignores its faults.
He has gotten better lately though, I'll give him credit. - Ajajadude, on 03/20/2008, -0/+9That I get out of the box with the PS3. I stopped playing my 360 because of the overpriced "accessories" I needed (and would prefer) such as a larger HDD, WiFi, etc.
- JayD16, on 03/20/2008, -2/+11Is it that hard to wiki? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XMB
- Claude1971, on 03/20/2008, -4/+13so just eat ***** and smile 360 fanboy
- LemmingJesus, on 03/20/2008, -2/+11That doesn't really help me understand at all.
- samdu, on 03/20/2008, -0/+8We knew the functionality was coming, we just didn't know when. Now we do.
- zengonzo, on 03/20/2008, -3/+11Cross Media Bar
- Pundan, on 03/20/2008, -2/+10What's HD-DVD?
- JayD16, on 03/20/2008, -0/+8If you don't care about the PS2 you could always shop online. Its region free. Then again Australia isn't in region 1 is it? Get a Europe one.
- timusca, on 03/20/2008, -0/+8If you're on a Mac, use MediaLink.
- Ajajadude, on 03/20/2008, -1/+8My, aren't we full of ourselves? If an in-game XMB is a deal breaker for you, then you obviously are just clamoring for excuses to not buy a PS3. So, shut the hell up about it. When they do finally roll out with that feature, what will you bitch about next? The fact that it doesn't do your homework? Doesn't give blowjobs? Won't run Bitorrent?
- mdaize, on 03/20/2008, -1/+8one word, TVersity
- inactive, on 03/20/2008, -0/+7"oh wait the PS3 can't do bitsteam audio"
Funny, it's listen in it's options. It does multiple types of bitstream - bejayel, on 03/20/2008, -1/+8monoprice.com ftw
- dansmeek, on 03/20/2008, -0/+7@zombi: i don't think many people even own an HDMI chord from Sony. The PS3 comes with a basic yellow/red/white jack.
HDMI cable of 6 feet or so should not cost more than $30. Only monster does $70.
There are just too many ways to connect a PS3 to video and sound for sony to include them all.
There's also componet video people (where HDMI chords wouldn't help them out) and then there's digital audio (and I have yet to buy any single item EVER than actually includes a digital audio (fiber optic) cable). - timusca, on 03/20/2008, -0/+6Well, I figured it would look artistic hanging on my wall.
