- Canada4Life, on 11/22/2007, -2/+54The PSP too...wow.
- ChristianBk, on 11/22/2007, -22/+69This is the way it should be. The PS3 is a better machine, period. I love my Wii... but after the first month (and lately, Super Mario Galaxy), I never turn it on. Maybe Japanese individuals are realizing this...?
- gilgamesh23, on 11/22/2007, -6/+52The PS3 is a kick ass system. Its the price that hurt it in sales not its performance. The Wii held court because it is the "budget" system. Its alot of fun, but the PS3 is a monster on steroids by comparison. Everybody has a Wii not because its a better console but because you could buy it with pocket change AND it IS a fun system.
- borninda818, on 11/22/2007, -34/+76This is not surprising at all, everyone already has a wii.
- mywhitenoise, on 11/22/2007, -8/+49kinggoonie's going to be pissed.
- DarkDx, on 11/22/2007, -31/+68The ps3-dominating days are coming....
- deepbrown, on 11/22/2007, -2/+39Surprising sales...it's hanging in there.
- NightVortez, on 11/22/2007, -5/+34Really? I just came back from Japan and it isn't really sold out anywhere like it is here, any link to this shipping change?
- coheedcollapse, on 11/22/2007, -6/+27I didn't see you complaining when "OMG Wii RAPES PS3 and X360 for 20th week in a row!" was showing up on the front page three times a day.
- JackondaRocks, on 11/22/2007, -5/+26Rise Lord Vader...
- sleeknerve, on 11/22/2007, -10/+30ok, so then nobody should ever buy a ps2 then right
- ZenMojo, on 11/22/2007, -2/+20There weren't any A-ranked games in the first year of the 360's life.... And metacritic allowed a 60 for Uncharted from some backwater nobody review site to throw off the score.
- lardoandkeg, on 11/22/2007, -3/+20haha
- ZenMojo, on 11/22/2007, -3/+20You realize the PS2 still sells more worldwide than the Xbox 360, right? It's hardly going bankrupt.
- AvidPreatorian, on 11/22/2007, -1/+17Or Uncharted maybe?
- mythicflux, on 11/22/2007, -4/+20Because fan boys only care about finding fault. When the PS3 started at 600 dollars they talked about buying a 360 for 400. Now that the console is 400 they want it at 300.
- KenDigg, on 11/22/2007, -4/+20I wonder what my comment here should be. Maybe I'll say something like "Hey! This is because everyone in Japan already owns a Wii!" That would sound good. I won't bother reading any of the other comments first, I'll just post it. I'm sure no one had the same thought as I did. Okay here I go:
That's because everyone in Japan already owns a Wii!
Yeah, that felt good. I'm so cool. - solidus636, on 11/22/2007, -0/+16Because the only thing you can really do on the Wii, is play games.
The PS3 offers being able to play PS1 games, as well as Music, Movies(Blu-ray included), and PS2 games as well for some models... - krische, on 11/22/2007, -1/+17Or you mean its Ratchet and Clank perhaps?
- charlescheese, on 11/22/2007, -5/+20Kinggoonie's life is over now. This will crush his poor, tiny little heart. BTW King Goonie, I asked my wife for Mario Galaxy for my birthday, so maybe that will help you recover from this crushing blow.
- inactive, on 11/22/2007, -2/+16You also realize that the two biggest costs pieces in the PS3 (the cell and the blue ray drive) are consistently lowering in price because of higher demand and better manufacturing. The blue ray burners are already dropping to $500 when they started at $1000. I dont think they are reducing the price at too much of a loss at all
- triplehelix, on 11/22/2007, -1/+15so your saying thats it? the wii is all done at 13million units sold?
- LordSeth, on 11/22/2007, -9/+22Whoo hoo.... if only they would lower the price in Aust from the ridiculous $999 mark.
- loktoris, on 11/22/2007, -12/+23I've been saying this since the start...the Wii is going to be just a fad like the Gamecube, admittedly it did sell much better than the GC but how much something sells has nothing to do with how long it says "in"...It's nothing more than a dust collector in my house now.
- D3koy, on 11/22/2007, -21/+32Maybe everyone in Japan already has a Wii? It has been out for over a year...any real fan already has one...
(still waiting for mine in America I might add....) - LuCiFer6, on 11/22/2007, -3/+12I have to say that Sony is slowly and quietly making steps to get back to this race.
1. Lower the Price
2. Bringing back Rumble Support (This feature was sorely missed)
3. All they need now to a string of good exclusive titles like Uncharted. - WhereAmI, on 11/22/2007, -1/+10What exclusive games because there's alot of PC games that are also on the 360 that I own. Lets see, Halo 3? The most overrated game of all time?
- Ajajadude, on 11/22/2007, -0/+8It considerably increases the value and usefulness of the PS3 if it's backwards compatible. Obviously no one should buy a PS3 primarily because they can play PS 1-2 games on it, but it's a nice bonus.
- pecel, on 11/22/2007, -1/+9Can't wait for the rumble feature in PS3 :)
- blankoboy, on 11/22/2007, -2/+10I owned a Wii after launch in Japan and sold it after 4 months. I wanted to love it but the lack of software turned me off and while I found the controller to be a fun, new experience I prefer either keyboard+mouse or gamepad.
That said, I will pick up a PS3 after the RSX (GPU) has shrunk to 65nm as the Cell processor did with the release of the 40GB model. By then I expect that Divx and Xvid will both be supported. I also hope that Skype will roll out on the PS3 platform and be usable with the new PS3 cam. - triplehelix, on 11/22/2007, -1/+9so your saying thats it? the wii is all done at 13million units sold?
- inactive, on 11/22/2007, -0/+8ROFL. Your right, that has been said about 900 times hasnt it?
- rishid, on 11/22/2007, -7/+14They drop the price another $100 in the Feb/March, they can make a big come back.
- LordSeth, on 11/22/2007, -3/+10I have a 360 and it only took 3 months to RROD. It was quickly fixed but now I cant use wireless receiver in designated USB port at back of console it has to be plugged in at the front. And I am a huge metal gear fanatic and I still play one on original Playstation as well as ones on PS2 so I want/need backwards compatibilty. Oh and where I am they are still charging $399 for a Wii.
- vault, on 11/22/2007, -7/+14zing!
- poxonyou, on 11/22/2007, -1/+8"i personally think the wii has a lot more potential hardware-wise than the PS3." Hahaha. You win the "Most Clueless Comment of the Thread" award. Congratulations.
- triplehelix, on 11/22/2007, -1/+7so you think thats it for the wii in japan? just a flash in the pan, and no more sales? interesting.
- mywhitenoise, on 11/22/2007, -0/+6he bought the 360 for credibility. You can tell because he always mentions he "bought it yesterday" and then follows it up with "I still think the Wii has so much more to offer."
- Dracusis, on 11/22/2007, -0/+6R&C hasn't been promoted much in Japan. It's biggest selling point, the quirky humour, just doesn't translate well. Likewise most Japanese games seem to have really twisted and bizarre plots because they don't translate well into English.
- NightVortez, on 11/22/2007, -2/+7I dugg you up and believe you but I still want to see a source to the whole thing. I stayed at Asakusa but almost every electronic store in Tokyo had a Wii stock, same with the PS3 but there was one that was out of 360's which I found was kind of funny.
- Topher06, on 11/22/2007, -1/+6What I find amazing is how many DS's and even PSP's are being sold. Honestly, 81k DS's in one week? Who the f*ck are buying these things? The Church of Scientology?
- valentinoracing, on 11/22/2007, -3/+8My moms got a 27 year old sony tv, that looks better than any tube tv you will find in most discount stores, still works like a champ...i think people are really starting to notice something....
quality, innovation, and working towards the future...all reasons why sony will live forever - triplehelix, on 11/22/2007, -1/+6he's saying the PS2 has sold over 120million, and is still sell's very well, so for the wii to all of a sudden reach saturation at 13million global sales, just doesn't make sense.
- triplehelix, on 11/22/2007, -1/+6so your saying thats it? the wii isn't going to sell any more in japan?
- Nattybumpoe, on 11/22/2007, -0/+4Try Reading
- dobbinmon, on 11/22/2007, -0/+4not really, if R&C was a game involving battling 100ft high robots, a scantily clad 16 year old heroine and a protagonist who is a 14yr kid from a small back water town then they'd be flying out the door (flying or levitating characters are optional).
- maduin, on 11/22/2007, -1/+5Everyone wants a PS3, it just takes them a year to save up the money to buy one.
- ButchersBoy, on 11/22/2007, -1/+5I bet you;re gutted now Galaxy is out and is quite simply one of the best games of all time.
- thebellmaster1x, on 11/22/2007, -9/+13...No? ...Not if they already own a PS2? I'm confused.
- triplehelix, on 11/22/2007, -1/+4so your saying you don't expect the wii to sell anymore in japan?
