- wiifm69, on 12/11/2007, -2/+35This trailer has been available on the PSN network for quite some time now. Oh did I mention in high def. This little video does not do the graphics justice
- Typhoon2009, on 12/11/2007, -2/+23This game looks awesome and is one of the reasons I just bought a PS3 last night. I'm placing bets that GT6 will finally make the "it's higher res than real life" statement not be so facetious.
- MacDaddyMac530, on 12/11/2007, -3/+20Does look sick. Finally they do the in car view. ohh and all the exotic cars.
- optoomistic, on 12/11/2007, -5/+20haters here own 360's please take a deep breath and admit that the gran tourismo series has no competition.
- knowitman, on 12/11/2007, -0/+14So you are dissing the physics of a game you have not played yet?
- mywhitenoise, on 12/11/2007, -2/+16People talking out of their asses again? The retail version of Prologue HAS car damage. I'm sure the final build of Gran Turismo 5 will also include it. And skid marks have always been in GT games.
- postalblowfish7, on 12/11/2007, -1/+12hahaha i love how microtards will seek out any article about a ps3 exclusive and ***** all over it. some moron was even speculating about a 360 release. lolol
if you liked gt4 then i bet gt5 will be a million times better. if you didn't, then stfu and go frag something. - Typhoon2009, on 12/11/2007, -1/+12They'll get on that, right after they port Halo 3 to the Sega Dreamcast.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 12/11/2007, -0/+11Why are you complaining about how long it's taking? I thought you played it already, after all you made comments about how the physics and AI worked...
- synce, on 12/11/2007, -5/+16What are you talking about? If you want to see overly shiny and/or reflective cars, play Forza. The cars in GT5 are barely discernible from photos. They use 200K polys each (twice that of PGR4) and the lighting engine is an entirely different level from anything previously seen. The environments could use work though.
- volacide, on 12/11/2007, -0/+9***** DIGG LINKS!
http://www.psu.com/Gran-Turismo-5--Prologue-previe ... - volacide, on 12/11/2007, -2/+11Maybe Digg is a little bit behind for the first time but Polyphony is finally adding car damage to prologue, there is no footage of it yet, but an article was written about it.
http://www.psu.com/Gran-Turismo-5--Prologue-previe ... - ScionX, on 12/11/2007, -1/+10yea, because you can totally link the PSN store video's to digg.......
O_o - blackgt93, on 12/11/2007, -0/+8Uh... considering its backed by Sony Computer Entertainment of America, I'm gonna go ahead and guess no.
- BearinG, on 12/11/2007, -1/+9I guess it might be something against Polyphony only.. cause other game developers have the F430 in near destroyed conditions..
- Cloud7659, on 12/11/2007, -3/+11That is just sick.
- Spuy767, on 12/11/2007, -2/+10When you want everything to be as perfect as possible, it takes wuite some time. Polyphony simply doesn't want to release a sub-par product. My favorite thing is the guys who I work with, who are big into games like NFS, try and race me on Gran Turismo or Forza and get ***** hammered cause the plow the ***** into turns like it's on rails. Good times.
- terencec, on 12/11/2007, -0/+8i dun care, GT5 gets top gear track
- mywhitenoise, on 12/11/2007, -0/+7Have you ever played a GT game? They get dirty as you race, and have to pay to get it washed.
- postalblowfish7, on 12/11/2007, -0/+7you've obviously never played a gran turismo game. they're ***** massive.
- inactive, on 12/11/2007, -5/+12But races are also about attrition and endurance of man and MACHINE.
Damage and how it effects the car handling is the true "next gen" step in racing games. Not this over the top glossy crap. If I hit a wall it should damage me and effect me the rest of the race not boost me around tight turns. I want true racing damage, fuel weight, tire degradation, (or the option to turn them on) ect.. not pretty bumper cars.
GT5 is not what true car racing fans want if it is nothing more than GT4 with a blinding sheen. We want realism not just from visuals but from everything else.
Oh and if they don't fix the retarded slot car AI they are doing the same as EA with Madden every year. But it just takes them 3 years to copy a game and make some visual improvements and nothing more. - Evolutuon, on 12/11/2007, -12/+18Its a driving sim not a crash sim. Not that I'm saying it emulates reality, but if you want vehicular annihilation, go play Burnout.
- mywhitenoise, on 12/11/2007, -0/+6What? My demo has around 6 or 7 cars, maybe more or less, but definitely not just 1. It only has 1 track.
- harajukukei, on 12/11/2007, -4/+10seems ferrari finally gave them permission to use their cars. the game looks great, love the in-car view
- aviazn, on 12/11/2007, -0/+5I don't know if the article was revised since you read it, but this is what it says when I look at it:
"Still, many fans will be disappointed to learn that damage modelling has yet to be implemented, and it is currently unknown whether or not the final build will contain this element." - grumbel, on 12/11/2007, -1/+6Yeah, and FIFA is soccer, not a beat'em up, so it would be ok for EA to take out the fouls, right?
- inactive, on 12/11/2007, -4/+9...or they could just add the ***** damage.
I'm sick of people defending lazy programming and necessary features.
Damages are all a part of racing. If you're gonna make a racing game, put the damage in. Period. - inactive, on 12/11/2007, -2/+7"driving dynamics"?
Do we want a racing game were damage plays a huge part in the real sport or a pretty diving Miss Daysy sim were you drive hard but the car looks like it just came off the show room floor?
Not including damage in a racing game is like not including checking in a hockey game. It is huge! - krische, on 12/11/2007, -0/+5See, this is actually a real racing game. Not the Need for Speed games that EA just adds a few things to and re-releases every year.
- BearinG, on 12/11/2007, -2/+6Ok and how many times have you seen a real race on Tv where NO cars get damaged at all.. damage is part of racing. Hell I've been lapping a few times (its not even an actual race) and there's always someone that totals their car or exchange paint between two cars.. Damage is a necessity for a racing sim..
- sotopheavy, on 12/11/2007, -2/+6Cars are freshly waxed. I have seen cars look this good, but not often. Definately not after a day of racing.
- kanariya, on 12/11/2007, -9/+13The reason to buy a PS3.
Atleast I bought my PS3 mainly for it.
And no, it will never be on the 360. :) - Chirp08, on 12/11/2007, -2/+6I can't imagine playing a racing game without damage. Hitting the wall on lap 4 of 5 and damaging your car to the point where you gotta restart is just how it would be in real life. Wanna "drift" and drive like an idiot, well you gotta take the same risks of doing that in real life. It makes you drive smarter and safer, and makes a hell of a lot more fun when you push your car to the edge and find yourself skimming inches from a wall that ultimately would have ended your race.
- inactive, on 12/11/2007, -2/+6Prologue = Demo that you purchase because you can't wait.
- triplehelix, on 12/11/2007, -0/+4yes, this will have damage.
- mywhitenoise, on 12/11/2007, -0/+4What a ***** idiot. There's not even a demo available in the US, and this guy wants to talk about the game as if he's actually played it.
- thecheatah, on 12/11/2007, -2/+6Its not even out yet. Your obviously just a retard.
- davewashere, on 12/11/2007, -12/+16I think the graphics team needs to lay off the virtual clear coat. Other than the unrealistic mirror finish the game looks amazing, even on the small low-def video.
- slaystench, on 12/11/2007, -2/+6Oh look, a dumb ass! I'm going to go ahead and assume you don't know what polygons are, so I won't bother explaining why it takes so long.
- slaystench, on 12/11/2007, -2/+6360 fanboys wouldn't do the exact same thing?
- aviazn, on 12/11/2007, -0/+3If GT wants to be a racing sim, collisions absolutely have to be modeled. I'd even be fine with no damage, as long as collisions with other cars were modeled correctly. You shouldn't be able to play bumper cars, or lean on the AI cars through corners.
- terencec, on 12/11/2007, -0/+3have you actually played the prologue demo yet? well as a person that actually played it im happy to tell you that the AI has been vastly improved
- postalblowfish7, on 12/11/2007, -0/+3ferrari in gran turismo = a million times better.
- kep1, on 12/11/2007, -0/+3Sony has already announced that the PS3 will get Divx in the near future so there ya go :)
- mywhitenoise, on 12/11/2007, -1/+4I played a demo of Forza, and I honestly wasn't all that impressed, the graphics for GT5 are a lot better than Forza. Then again I played the Forza demo at a gamestop kiosk, and they don't know how to calibrate their sets for *****.
I'll agree about the AI, it's not very aggressive, and it seems to be set to always drive in the same patterns...the game's are still a little challenging for me. - Aleman360, on 12/11/2007, -4/+7Graphics are by the far the most impressive I've seen in a racing game but the gameplay in the Japanese demo felt a little stale. Maybe it will be better when (/if) they add damage effects because bumper car racing just feels too old school.
- bjs3171, on 12/11/2007, -0/+2huh? full auto? motor storm? burn out?
- bjs3171, on 12/11/2007, -0/+2crikey
- BearinG, on 12/11/2007, -1/+3Also, if the driving dynamics have been "realistic" forever then technically it should not be an complete overhaul of the game.. if the physics were good then, they are good now.. In my opinion, they should have more time NOW then they ever had since its the 5th installment.. The driving dynamics have been "simulation quality", so they should only be tweaking it by now.. shouldn't they?
- samdu, on 12/12/2007, -0/+2None of any of the media that's been shown for GT5 or GT5 Prologue has been pre-rendered. It's all in game, either in replay mode or in actual gameplay.
