Best Sony decision ever. - JasonCox, on 04/16/2008, -14/+74BREAKING: Sony predicts PS3 will kick ass this year.
ALSO BREAKING: Microsoft and Nintendo predict their consoles will kick ass again this year. - joshf52, on 04/16/2008, -7/+65NO I LOVE IT
- ahhell, on 04/16/2008, -24/+64I really find the all caps PLAYSTATION ***** irritating.
Anyone else hate that? - inactive, on 04/16/2008, -30/+61This is like digging a puff piece from Microsoft about how great the Xbox 360 is...
- djdigital, on 04/16/2008, -2/+31I'm just waiting for Home and Little Big Planet..........
- mywhitenoise, on 04/16/2008, -3/+25They didn't give ANY information. In fact we got more information when one of the reps said it was coming in firmware 2.40
This just makes it seem like it's going to come out later. - sugarhigh4242, on 04/16/2008, -4/+25Of course the blog post is a puff piece, but there's a lot of confirmations in there that people will find interesting:
- Video downloads "very soon"
- Echochrome early May release
- In-game XMB and other community features coming soon
- Playstation Home announcement coming soon
- Playstation Store cards in $20/$50 shipping to stores now
So chill out on the hate. - akilleen, on 04/16/2008, -0/+18Yea, I hate Media Access Control addresses as well.
- chris9902, on 04/16/2008, -18/+35So we're digging PR circle jerks now? what happened to you digg?
- superkendall, on 04/16/2008, -4/+21Actually they had a few pretty good things, like Ratchet & Clank and of course Resistance... and a lot of downloadable games that are really well done (like flOw or Everyday Shooter or Super Stardust HD).
I'm not sure why you say everything else was a "crappy" 360 port since the ran the same as on the 360, only sometimes with slightly better textures on the PS3 and less graphical artifacts like tearing.
But what does the 360 have this year for a lineup? The PS3, at least in the early year looks to have a lot stronger lineup if you do not consider the cross platform stuff. - Ohidjwae, on 04/16/2008, -3/+18And Uncharted, which I personally thought was awesome. Although it WAS Ratchet & Clank that finally convinced me I needed to buy a PS3.
- inactive, on 04/16/2008, -6/+20And lets not forget the massive flood of Wii ***** we had a while back
Point meaning that digg is pretty even now-a-days with their video game choosing - revjustin2, on 04/16/2008, -6/+20This is off topic - there I warned you:
I have been following gaming news on Digg now for over a year and there is one thing I just don't get about the gaming "community". Why the ***** do people get so defensive about the superiority of specific platforms/consoles/game titles, etc.? It's really silly and just another version of sandbox politics. It's just like fighting over who's dick is bigger or who got to third base and who didn't. Look peoples, the word "game" is pretty central here. It's about having fun. If you own a 360, what possible damage does someone owning a PS3 do to you and vice versa? Why do you care?
It is this kind of crap that I would never call myself a gamer even though I love video games and have been playing them for over 25 years. That word just translates to negative things for me.
There. I vented. I feel better. - superkendall, on 04/16/2008, -2/+16Little Big Planet. Also GT5 is quite a draw for a lot of people though I'm more indifferent to that title.
- patrickbkelly, on 04/16/2008, -15/+29Wait, is this Digg or PR Newswire?
- slvrbullet87, on 04/16/2008, -6/+19COMING ACROSS THE WIRE: My 360 has the red ring for the 3rd time!
- superkendall, on 04/16/2008, -3/+16Too busy playing online for free to notice. And 21 days is not that long a wait...
http://kotaku.com/371692/details-on-cod4-map-packs ... - djSyndrome, on 04/16/2008, -5/+17Congratulations. Would you like a cookie?
- bluerei, on 04/16/2008, -4/+16Takes me 20 minutes at most on a cable connection. What are you running?
- sint4x, on 04/16/2008, -8/+20No, this is like digging a piece from Microsoft about the features coming to the 360 in the future.
- weezerrock86, on 04/16/2008, -4/+15We just got ours last week in anticipation for the Metal Gear Beta, have spent most of the time with it so far on Blu-Ray (Planet Earth) and Folding@home... enjoying it so far. I think this should be a great year to get into the Playstation 3
One Question though I didnt catch anything in there about HOME. - akilleen, on 04/16/2008, -5/+16GT5 and Tekken 6
- sint4x, on 04/16/2008, -4/+15You did indeed
- theaceoffire, on 04/16/2008, -3/+13ASTONISHING TURN OF EVENTS: Rick Astley will never give you up!
- staticneuron, on 04/16/2008, -0/+10Don't go there. I take care of my electronics and so does my friend. While mine hasn't gone down, his has twice. Its a problem with the hardware.
- Zoids, on 04/16/2008, -1/+11FOLLOW UP: Rick Astley will also never let you down!
- Mullinsmcd, on 04/16/2008, -1/+11Sony has really delivered on the Playstation Store upgrade (works wonderfully now) and I hope that all of the other things mentioned in this article are done equally as well. Its really not about this guy saying which console is the best, its about what features we have in store for FY2008. I dont care which console wins the war, I just want these features on my PS3. Its not always about who sells the most, etc.
- Misanthrope, on 04/16/2008, -0/+10Hey, enjoy the new clubs man. I love golf.
I just don't really get what that has to do with this article. - rikwakefield, on 04/16/2008, -1/+10GAMING.
Serious business. - xboxing, on 04/16/2008, -1/+9Something interesting I just saw when I downloaded the Metal Gear Online Beta is there were two options for downloading the mandatory 1.0.1 update... HTTP download or Peer to Peer (obviously BitTorrent)... that's the first time I've ever *seen* anything on any console use P2P for downloading... interesting. It even had options for limiting upload bandwidth.
- staticneuron, on 04/16/2008, -3/+11Your right....its only ok when in reference to the wii or 360 right?
- cthellis, on 04/16/2008, -0/+8Wouldn't everyone's computers and consoles of ALL brands be failing left and right as well, if that were the case?
- mdaize, on 04/16/2008, -8/+16*insert obligatory 'the PS3 looks to be worth it now comment'*
Seriously, the PS3 has only been gaining in the already high value that it already has. The system has more features you can shake a stick at and its only become more and more functional. I own one and its been far from a bad purchase.
Even at 6 or 700 dollars, the system itself is of great value...
Lets see how sales go now that this "year of the PS3" is going...
And for those who believe that MGS or GTA4 or GT5:P or the like are the only reason to buy the system, there are a large amount of games already out, just go buy one already... - inactive, on 04/16/2008, -1/+8Tell me about it, its so great to play online for free, i hated paying for xbox live
- MRintheKeys, on 04/16/2008, -3/+10THIS JUST IN: GTAIV will sell massive amounts of copies for both PS3 and 360!
- magicaltrevor, on 04/16/2008, -2/+9"...other community-related services this year. They will be designed to ... recognize and reward you for your gameplay accomplishments across a broad portfolio of PS3 games."
Achievements, perhaps? - shinythingy, on 04/16/2008, -0/+7Better than killing the console
- inactive, on 04/16/2008, -0/+7Seeing as to how your user icon is from Halo, I'm willing to bet you're telling the truth.
- cthellis, on 04/16/2008, -0/+7Is that before or after other people have stated that they get their content quickly?
Unfortunately, connection to central servers is a regional thing. Some people have no problems. Some people have problems with one and not others. Some people have problems with EVERYONE because their ISP sucks. ;-) - shinythingy, on 04/16/2008, -0/+7Why do people assume that you need to upgrade their dvd collection. The ps3 is an excellent up scaler.
- Mullinsmcd, on 04/16/2008, -0/+7FTA:
Of course, 2008 will also see the launch of PlayStation Home, and we’ll have more announcements on the expanding community functions within PLAYSTATION Network in the near future, so stay tuned. - Dylson, on 04/16/2008, -1/+7What?
- Ajajadude, on 04/16/2008, -0/+6You're right, we shouldn't be digging what you just said.
- dsmx, on 04/16/2008, -5/+11There best decision was making a free online service that has less downtime than microsofts pay for xbox live.
- clarkec321, on 04/16/2008, -6/+12Which console has Home, MGS4, LittleBigPlanet, Resistance2, Haze, MotorStorm2 and GTA4, a relaunched store which will have TV, Movie & music downloads and which console includes a HardDrive as standard, a Hi-Def movie player features like Remote Play and to cap it all off you can play online for FREE... yes FREE. other things coming soon are BBC iPlayer, PLAYTV...'08 is the year of the PS3, what has the 360 got.... Halo4 or something...great
- cthellis, on 04/16/2008, -1/+7Um... no there wasn't. The first time they listed ANY PS3 specs (E3 2005) was when they were going overboard. Hell, they wanted three ethernet ports (gigabit, IIRC) on there so the PS3 could serve as hub/router as well. Also two HDMI ports and 6 USB...
There was outrage only over the price. ;-) (And then later on, when they started scaling back their I/O.) - Darksoul, on 04/16/2008, -1/+7No he ha a brain unlike you go away m$ fan-boy I can smell Bill all over you.
- dsmx, on 04/16/2008, -1/+7Really? The PS3 is all sold out where I am while there were plenty of xbox 360's on the shelves. Just depends on where you are I guess.
- Ryouken, on 04/16/2008, -2/+8LittleBigPlanet comes to mind, as well as White Knight Chronicles.
Haze is a big one too, but I think the market has enough shooters as it is. (IMHO)
Aside from those, and very few others, I don't see alot of "new" games. -
