-The clicking is from the autofocus of the camera
-This might only work on older games
-Dark Alex and Mathieulh (well known PSP hackers) have confirmed it's real
-It'll be very easy for Sony to fix

- LoudMusic, on 08/16/2008, -3/+20I hate this usage of the term "backup". It's such a load of *****.
- Books, on 08/16/2008, -0/+17Dugg for Dark Alex. I think every PSP owner (at least most) owes that guy a beer or something.
- inactive, on 08/16/2008, -7/+19Good thing to have PS3 this year. A reliable machine.
- Cyber_Akuma, on 08/17/2008, -0/+8You clearly didn't read the article and haven't been keeping up on technology.
1. This is putting the games on the PS3's harddrive and playing them off that, not playing the games off of a burned blu-ray disk.
2. An average PS3 game is under 9 gigs, few are over 15 gigs, why does everybody assume that every PS3 game is 25 gigs just because that is the max a Blu-Ray disk can currently hold? Do you think all PS2 games are 9 gigs? The average PS2 game was 2-3 gigs, some were even under 500 megs!
3. You can get a blu-ray burner for under $150 on newegg now, most are around the $300 range.
4. Blu-Ray blanks cost about $5-15 each. - Black6x, on 08/16/2008, -1/+9What i want is proper sentence structure.
- crash331, on 08/16/2008, -1/+9Um, it's games.
- BoneheadFarker, on 08/16/2008, -1/+8Noyournot...
- xboxing, on 08/16/2008, -2/+9I was all for hacking the original Xbox, but it was for the purpose of getting extra media functionality out of it, not to pirate games. The 360, and especially the PS3 (copying media to the internal drive, etc) now have so much of that extra media functionality built-in that I have no desire to hack into either of them. I feel really bad for game developers when stuff like this happens.
- ferrariman60, on 08/16/2008, -1/+8You kidding me? HD storage is cheap as chips!
BD: 25 GB, $9= $0.36/GB
Source: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8 ...
HDD: 320 GB, $70 = $0.21/GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8 ...
That's a hefty difference. - ferrariman60, on 08/16/2008, -1/+8That joke is so played out. Please stop.
- Jack8274, on 08/16/2008, -2/+8Because the PS2 had some the best damn old-ass games ever.
- solidus636, on 08/16/2008, -0/+6Every time I see that joke on digg, I want to pull out the heart of the person who said it and stab it.
Shut the ***** UP. - CLShortFuse, on 08/16/2008, -2/+8Any original disc
In his second video he shows you can play a Warhawk "image" on the hard drive with an original Motorstorm disc. - faizal5k, on 08/16/2008, -0/+6You need help if you really do whack your dick on your keyboard.
- InfernoX, on 08/16/2008, -4/+9Not really, I'm actually looking forward to the day when consoles get a flood of piracy so developers will actually make GOOD games instead of just avoid the PC platform entirely.
- Cyber_Akuma, on 08/16/2008, -1/+6Just like how developers have abandoned the 360 and Wii because they can play pirated games right?
Or how developers abandoned the PS2 and flocked to the GC and Xbox last gen because the PS2 was hacked wide open right? - inactive, on 08/17/2008, -0/+5Some games come with firmware updates on the disc and must be installed before you can play them. Also many online games check your firmware version before you play online. This isn't Sony's first rodeo.
- boombume, on 08/17/2008, -0/+5That's just good old-fashioned pwnage right there.
- Arkz, on 08/16/2008, -1/+5Most PS3 games are like 7GB, plus when they fix the HDD thing you could upgrade to a 250GB drive...
- Spire3660, on 08/16/2008, -0/+4O god Shadow of Colossus on PSP...................... want.....
- Arkz, on 08/16/2008, -0/+4you're a few months late...
- Arkz, on 08/16/2008, -1/+51, stop talking *****
2, most games are about 6-7GB
3, the HDD thing will be fixed but atm you just need 2 same sized drives, you could use 2 250GB drives - LucasJ218, on 08/16/2008, -0/+4Because the PS3 isn't just for movies?
edit - crash beat me to it. - Cyber_Akuma, on 08/17/2008, -0/+4Perhaps with the PS3, but I feel the 360 is still too limited.
Unlike the PS3, I can't copy media from a usb drive to the console's storage and back, the majority of saves are locked from being copied, only the "official" memorycards will work for copying anything off or to the console, etc.
Above all, the 360 still has region locks, annoying for an importer.
The PS3 so far dosen't have region locked games but the funcationality is there, and movies as well as PS1 and PS2 games are still locked. - chedabob, on 08/16/2008, -0/+4For every one person that makes a backup for a legit purpose, there will be 1000 people that are pirating the games.
- ryansimbalist, on 08/17/2008, -1/+5'A reliable machine' is technically a complete sentence beacause:
It contains a subject: 'Machine'
and a verb: 'reliable' - normally an adjective, used in this context it is 'to be reliable' - Foxhound1979, on 08/16/2008, -1/+4Just like your mom only way harder. She likes taking it all in.
- Cyber_Akuma, on 08/16/2008, -0/+3The point is he is running PS3 GAMES, not blu-ray movies.
- Cyber_Akuma, on 08/16/2008, -0/+3"I want to pull out the heart of the person who said it and stab it."
solidus636 Wins!
FATALITY! - HolyChimp, on 08/17/2008, -0/+3I backed up every Xbox game I rented from blockbuster. It was brilliant.
- ultrafez, on 08/17/2008, -0/+3@TwiztOG43;
I find it ironic that you are calling someone a retard when you can't even spell. If you're going to insult someone, please at least spell correctly! - jerrycan, on 08/17/2008, -0/+3also missing playing directly off of smb/windows shares...and all the codecs xbmc supports....
- NeoTechni, on 08/16/2008, -0/+2They block MAC addresses
- Blandyman, on 08/16/2008, -0/+2Just like for every one person watching a movie, 1000 will download it. Nothing stopping the movie industry, is there?
- LoudMusic, on 08/16/2008, -1/+3Sure, if you're copying games YOU have bought. But more than likely this tech will be used to share games on the intertron, and falsely referencing them as backups.
- arcticblue, on 08/17/2008, -0/+2I've worked with alot of cameras and I've never seen one that sounds like that. Also, there are certain parts of the second video where the camera should not be attempting to autofocus or adjust brightness and yet that annoying tapping is still there.
Well, I guess if the camera is broken or the focus is "stuck" then maybe it could make that noise, but I would think it would be a more mechanical grinding sound than something that sounds like a keyboard tap. - HappyScrappy, on 08/16/2008, -0/+2I think it's funny you're gonna take a movie that is already typically in x264 and reencode it (which will take forever). Since the codec didn't change, the only way you'll get a significant reduction in file size is to reduce quality.
- altgeeky1, on 08/16/2008, -0/+2You've got a point, but you must be more of a 'collector' than a gamer.
Besides, I bought my PS3 40GB specifically with the intention I would later upgrade the drive. Just how many games could I fit on a 320GB drive? More than I'll ever play to completion! - Elranzer, on 08/17/2008, -0/+2Not sure why you're getting dugg down. This is especially true for games released for both PS3 and 360.
- Cyber_Akuma, on 08/16/2008, -0/+2"-It'll be very easy for Sony to fix"
How so? I thought the nature of the hack wasn't released yet? Its rather difficult for Sony to fix the pandora hack for PSPs after all. - Louis6693, on 08/17/2008, -0/+2super!!!
- Cyber_Akuma, on 08/17/2008, -0/+2Most PS3 games are under 9 gigs, don't forget the majority of the PS3's library also exsists on the 360, and vice-versa.
- warsongs7, on 08/17/2008, -0/+2Or rent and then crack it.
- InfernoX, on 08/16/2008, -1/+3Fail.
The first guy's comment wasn't one sentence divided into two sentences. - dorkdork777, on 08/17/2008, -0/+1There's a 'Donate' button on his site. How much is a beer in Spain?
- gettarat, on 11/23/2008, -0/+1Good thing to have PS3 this year. A reliable machine.
http://externalharddrivereviews.org/ - mcmorrowk, on 05/06/2009, -0/+1I got the HDLoader when it first came out so that I could backup my own games to a hard drive in my ps2. Faster load times and not having to change the disc in the tray were enough for me. I didn't go renting and copying games.
It made me love the ps2 even more. Sure other people will probably exploit this, even i would have if i had been strapped for cash or more time to play more games. - Gamoc, on 08/26/2008, -0/+1vannoy; got proof?
