- MrFisty, on 04/15/2008, -2/+83I have a dream, that one day we can all enjoy ours consoles in peace without fear of ridicule or dick waving from forum trolls.
- hater2win, on 04/15/2008, -13/+90PSN Store > XBL Store
It is now the better store, but not by how much the XBL store was better than the PSN store before. However, that is all in the past. The new PSN store is perfection. - Sedako, on 04/15/2008, -13/+80Sorry to break your heart, but the PS3 has shipped more units than the Xbox360 had at this point in it's lifetime.
http://vgchartz.com/hwlaunch.php?cons1=Wii®1=Al ... - etgoboom, on 04/15/2008, -5/+54now all we need is firmware 2.31 to add images to the store!
seriously though, it is finally a sleek interface. - schmoppa, on 04/15/2008, -1/+33arguably (much!) more important than an upgrade store is the fact that with firmware 2.3, the PS3 also can internally decode DTS-HD MA!
- timusca, on 04/15/2008, -0/+27I just got a ps3 a few days ago and my first impression was that the store was fugly... glad to see they revamped it.
- mooninite, on 04/15/2008, -3/+29Says the retard with the Halo avatar.
- roxya, on 04/15/2008, -3/+29The store is surely free on XBL too?
- krische, on 04/15/2008, -1/+25Except demos, you can only download those a week later with the silver account.
- Whackly, on 04/15/2008, -0/+24As a 360 fan and owner I'm going to bridge the gap and say that looks pretty badass and that I really wish we had flOw on xbla.
- vanden9, on 04/15/2008, -3/+27Also
Quote from the Playstation Blog:
"Since the new Store is no longer web-based in the way the old Store was, all of the coding is brand new, as well as thousands of new images to import and farm out to the different servers."
So the images will come soon. - mywhitenoise, on 04/15/2008, -3/+24And I have 16 physical PS3 games (seriously) and about 15 PSN games...so what's your point?
- evozero, on 04/15/2008, -0/+20It's free, but gameplay will only be available for 2 weeks. It's also called Metal Gear Online, and a starter pack will be included with MGS4. I'm really looking forward to it myself.
check this out for more info http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/04/14/alert-me ... - treed, on 04/15/2008, -3/+23Or like everyone is hammering it all at once.
- JayD16, on 04/15/2008, -2/+21Seems pretty slick. Even with everyone downloading the patch you can still navigate the menus. The pictures won't load but you can still get into individual pages.
- Mejogid, on 04/15/2008, -0/+17@truspector
12 hours without online at all sounds worse than a few with slow loading images... - namtellum, on 04/15/2008, -5/+22It's not our problem you are missing out on some good games exclusive to ps3.
- GothAlice, on 04/15/2008, -0/+17@truspector: Hey, at least it's working in any form. I seem to remember the troubles a certain paid system had during the holidays…
- Jayeugene, on 04/15/2008, -4/+20yeah, Wii included. I just forgot to mention that. Ive only used my wii for the 1st party titles, other than that it collects dust quite efficiently due to lackluster titles for my tastes.
- coheedcollapse, on 04/15/2008, -2/+18I'm going to ignore truspector's stupidity and just say that the images are now working for me in most instances. The first time I loaded it they didn't come up right away, but now it's working fine.
- JayD16, on 04/15/2008, -4/+20You have to remember that it caches all the images and only downloads new ones. As I'm surfing the store images are starting to trickle in.
- wellyuk, on 04/15/2008, -1/+15Whether the PS3 has sold 7 or 7 million, what exactly is your point? Or did you not have one?
Of course we all know that quantity > quality - Ajajadude, on 04/15/2008, -1/+14I hope not. That means I'll be paying for a service that can't handle the holiday workloads.
- krische, on 04/15/2008, -0/+13So I see you haven't used it yet.
- staticneuron, on 04/15/2008, -0/+13what are you talking about? The images take a while to DL but once they do they apparently stay on the HD. I understand the need for fanboys to try to express their disdain at another consoles features but must you reall yresort to outright lying?
- vanden9, on 04/15/2008, -4/+17Yep Xbox 360 comes with a sliver account....THat let you download everything on the store...
- coheedcollapse, on 04/15/2008, -0/+12No, I'm calling you a troll because you complain about something as stupid as images not working just yet on the PSN but never peep about the fact that a large portion of that the first few hundred thousand 360's sold had a flaw that caused them to crap out. Oh yeah. And Xbox Live Network outages that last for days when Sony's free alternative hasn't given me any problems at all.
Nothing against the 360. I'd get one myself if I had the extra cash, but if you're going to nitpick about one console you should do it about the other. - idiggitall, on 04/15/2008, -4/+16WHO CARES?!?!? GT5 PROLOGUE IS OUT!!
- Duositex, on 04/15/2008, -1/+13As an owner of a PS3 and flOw I'm going to bridge the gap and say that I really wish we had Ikaruga on PSN.
- KirbyMeister, on 04/15/2008, -0/+12*sigh* Now if only Nintendo would ditch their web-based store for a better UI...
- Claude1971, on 04/15/2008, -3/+15you Sir, are retarded
- darkMAMEr, on 04/15/2008, -1/+12You do realize that the PS3's monthly sales have been out-pacing the 360s for awhile now, don't you? The 360s don't sell because no one in their right mind would buy a console with a 40+% hardware failure rate. PS3's sales are skyrocketing due to the Blu-Ray victory, price cuts, and the fact that some of it's good exclusives are finally just around the corner. If MS doesn't get their ***** together Sony will overtake them faster than anyone thought possible.
- HypocriteDigg, on 04/15/2008, -4/+15I hope it's faster than the slow POS they had before.
- azurechaos, on 04/15/2008, -1/+12Have all of you who are bitching really not gotten it out of your system yet? Sony can't do a single positive thing without you guy trying to turn it into your own bitchfest 2k8. Chill out.
Anyway, I'm really glad to have this now on my ps3, it'll be much nicer for me to navigate the store. - sixxis, on 04/15/2008, -1/+12the MGS Online Beta is free for those who preorder the game. MGS dvd Volume 2 (which u get when you preorder) comes with a code to DL on the 17th and play on the 20th!!!!!!
- wallryan, on 04/15/2008, -2/+12wow "the Metal Gear Solid Online Beta will also be going live later this week. " just out of curiosity....is that free? if so I think i will have to reconsider my choice of console.......
- chrillen, on 04/15/2008, -4/+14Regardless, it's still more consoles.
- Coolmatt49, on 04/15/2008, -0/+10True, but the beta is limited to those who preordered MGS4 and got the Metal Gear Solid Saga V. 2 DVD with the beta code OR sign up for limited registration of the beta on Konami's site.
If you're in Europe, the beta is open to everyone, so all you have to do is just download the beta when it goes live April 17th.
Beta Gameplay is available from April 21st through May 5th. - cthellis, on 04/15/2008, -0/+9Incomplete ≠slow to load images while it's rolling out
I'm not sure why they didn't feed the first batch that they KNEW would be in there through the firmware update, though. They should have pre-built the cache they're trying to establish by downloading the images right now. - fadetoone, on 04/15/2008, -1/+10Oh man... the whole not having to use the little hand to navigate the page, and being able to use circle to go backwards is fantastic. Sleeeeek.
- Jofaba, on 04/15/2008, -13/+22I still prefer XBL, but this is a great change from a store designed for a keyboard/mouse being navigated with analog sticks. I like it.
Must admit though, I was really hoping that Home was being released when I saw the store down yesterday. - namochan, on 04/15/2008, -0/+9XBox fans are way louder than PS3 fans.
- soupdawg30, on 04/15/2008, -6/+15Yep
- Ajajadude, on 04/15/2008, -0/+9If I have to choose between paid with outages when I'm most likely going to be playing or free with no outages and slow loading images, I'll take free thank you very much. There's really no real excuse as to why there are unscheduled outages in a paid service. They should be making more than enough money to keep up with demand.
- dansmeek, on 04/15/2008, -0/+9no. it wasn't really hacked. it was the PSP. the PSP is designed (originally) to run *anything*. so people downloaded PSP games from the PSN store and figured out how to take the DRM out of it. only hacked PSP's (CFW) can use the PSN store for free, and most every title for the PSP is already being pirated.... so it's not that big of a deal (for the PSP community). I'm sure Sony wishes they had added more protection to the PSP.... in countries like South Korea or some Asian country, there were more PSP's sold than software purchases (a
- Almadiel, on 04/15/2008, -0/+8I would settle for a wifi setup that didn't take five minutes to succeed or fail to connect with no progress indicators or way to cancel.
- coheedcollapse, on 04/15/2008, -0/+8I'm still pissed about my DS only supporting WEP. That and friend codes.
- wallryan, on 04/15/2008, -3/+11thanks for the info...in my eyes it is still a step ahead of microshaft considering i had to buy crackdown to play the beta of halo 3 (which sucked by the way)
- Ajajadude, on 04/15/2008, -0/+8Are you seriously being a 360 fanboy and talking ***** about who should be upgrading their servers?
- inactive, on 04/15/2008, -1/+9Nothing sadder than an Xbox fan trolling PS3 stories while they wait for their console to come back from repair.
