Dear Sony,
Want to push the sales of the PS3 past all the other consoles? Then please answer the fans cry and have Square redo the graphics for Final Fantasy VII and release it on your PS3 system. The game has a cult following, and is considered (by many, but not all) to be one of the best story driven games of all time. Instead of wasting your time on sequels and side stories just re-release the game with updated graphics and make everyone happy. Damn, after watching the CGI trailer, I hope Square intends on remaking FF7 on PS3. After FFXIII is fine, since more experience with their system means better visuals. - Orion682, on 12/18/2007, -0/+2I really don't see why you're all so goddamned surprised that it's on the PSP. Why? BECAUSE IT'S BEEN A PSP EXCLUSIVE SINCE THEY ANNOUNCED THE GAME. They didn't release a PS2/3 version for Japan, and they're sure as hell not gonna do it here. At best maybe they'll let you emulate it on a PS3 once their online store takes off, but that's a longshot too.
They want to sell more PSPs, and they will with this game. Don't bitch that you won't buy it, because they said the same thing in Japan... and they did all buy it... in droves. The PSP outsold the DS for 3 solid weeks when Crisis Core was released, and it'll likely happen here too for at least a week or two.
I imagine that by March, their online store will have more PS1 converted games for sale for the PSP (they'll likely release the original FF7 for PSP via their download store in time for the release), and they'll give it a nice firmware update (maybe 3.0 by then) to sweeten the deal. You bitch and moan now but you'll buy it just the same.
And then, after 13, I have little doubt that they'll remake 7 for the PS3. Why? Because the number after 13 is 14. If you're going to make a FF7-2, 14's a nice, easy to remember number. It'd be like a milestone to them, to show off all that they've accomplished between the release of the 2 games.
And for everyone screaming "OMG there needs to be a DS version!1!!ione," please, go look at the screenshots of Crisis Core from Japan and TELL ME that your DS can do that. I have a DS too and mine sure as hell can't.
This is not something new. The console wars have always had exclusives to push a certain platform, so stop acting like this is some new weird ***** that they're pulling. I wanna play Mass Effect but I onyl have a Wii, PSP, and DS, and have no intention of getting a 360. Am I bitching? No, because I'm not surprised that it's not an exclusive. Just like I won't bitch that MGS4 is a PS3 exclusive. Eventually, somewhere down the line, I'll likely get a PS3 for MGS4 and the aforementioned inevitable redux of 7, but until then, I'll live. - Nichiren, on 12/18/2007, -0/+2FFVI storyline was epic. I remember the Knights of the Round Table, Golden chocobos, clouds ultima weapon, clouds apocalypse sword, w-summon and w-item materia, ahhh those were the days. but someone fill me in because im all geeked about this. whats this FF7 supposed to be about? I read its a pre-quel meaning before the actual game?

gaming press who have seen more content than the public has said the game seemlessly switches CGI to rendered very smoothly (I remember FF7 was doing this). You can actually spot the difference, it's not all CGI in the video (like parts of the gunshooting scene)
Regardless, I hope they do it on PS3 rather than PSP. I think Sony needs the sales anyway.
