- mywhitenoise, on 02/26/2008, -3/+40When compared to the $50 360 controller, and $60 Remote/Nunchuk it doesn't seem that bad. But overall, all controllers should be priced in the $30 range.
I thought $25 for controllers last gen was bad. - Synthesize, on 02/26/2008, -5/+41FYI: Wireless Xbox 360 controller = $50, w/Lithium Battery Pack = $62
DualShock 3: Vibration, Motion Sensing, Wireless, and built-in Lithium Battery = $55 - truspector, on 02/26/2008, -4/+35$55 really isn't that outrageous. Compare it to $49.99 + $8 for a rechargeable battery and the playing field is pretty level.
- LiquidChimera, on 02/26/2008, -4/+35I knew it would be pricey, but it still hurts to see it listed at $55
- mywhitenoise, on 02/26/2008, -8/+38About ***** time.
And what the hell is that!? $55? I suddenly don't feel so bad for importing mine for $65 and getting it back in November. - pixelatedsoul, on 02/26/2008, -2/+32$55 DualShock 3.
$40 Sixaxis
$60 Wii-mote & Nunchuck
$40 360 Wireless Controller
Man, I miss the 16-Bit days when controllers were $20. - cheeseron, on 02/26/2008, -3/+27xbox 360 wireless are $50, and they're even more than that if you get the battery pack... wii controllers are $40, and the nunchuck is $20
- AndrewDB, on 02/26/2008, -15/+3855 bucks for a last generation feature. I see how it is Sony.
- truspector, on 02/26/2008, -1/+21As much as I like to argue, I'm going to have to agree with you here.
- amrush4th, on 02/26/2008, -4/+23I love paying a lot for something that should have came in the box in the first place.
- stronglikedan, on 02/26/2008, -2/+21Here's how I rationalize your opinion: It's naive.
Here's how I rationalize vibration: It's more immersive than without when used creatively and sparingly.
As long as it's used to consistently cue a reaction to something in the game, then it's great. Like your tires touching the edge of the road causing you to brake a little, or knowing you are being attacked from behind causing you to take cover or turn around. Not everyone registers red flashes on the screen when you are looking for snipers in the distance. As stated above, when used properly, vibration == immersion. - LiquidIse, on 02/26/2008, -0/+16I always wished buying 4 controllers cost more than last gen's consoles
- Aleman360, on 02/26/2008, -0/+16You can buy imported DS3s on eBay for $55-60 shipped right now. They work perfectly with US PS3s.
- SkullWolf, on 02/26/2008, -1/+16What concerns me more than the $55 price tag is the fact that it took 5 ***** months to release a controller in another region.
- Aleman360, on 02/26/2008, -0/+13The official 360 battery packs are NiMH, not lithium. They literally contain two rechargeable AA's.
- JankHank, on 02/26/2008, -0/+13Yeah, I don't know why people are whining about it...that's pretty much standard price for wireless controllers; now it's basically like a 360 controller but with added motion sensitivity. I suppose Sony feels they can charge an extra 5 dollar premium for it (over 360's $50 MSRP).
- jeffchuck, on 02/26/2008, -0/+12I have no idea where to begin on this one...
- skipdog172, on 02/26/2008, -0/+10yeah like we haven't seen vibrating controllers....i dont get it.
- diggitydoc, on 02/26/2008, -0/+10or, ya know, using the interwebs and importing one... crazy idea, i know.
- mywhitenoise, on 02/26/2008, -2/+12SIXAXIS was an even bigger rip-off.
- matt0r, on 02/26/2008, -0/+10exactly
and if you consider the 360 controller doesnt come w/ a rechargable battery, the ps3 one is actualyl cheaper - Vulphaestion, on 02/26/2008, -0/+10GT5 Prologue is not GT5; which is slated for a 2009 release.
- krische, on 02/26/2008, -2/+12Just in time for GTA IV as well :)
Can't wait to feel the controller shake as I run people over on the sidewalk. - gstep, on 02/26/2008, -1/+10What?! $70 for a wireless headset or $180 for a 120gb HDD is expensive???
- 471776, on 02/26/2008, -0/+9You could be games? Sounds fun.
- Yogitw, on 02/26/2008, -0/+9Yeah, I found this strange too. Did it take them that long to translate the instructions? :P
- bigbadgoat, on 02/26/2008, -0/+9plus the motion sensors.
- Ajajadude, on 02/26/2008, -1/+9whoa, calm down turbo
- serif69, on 02/26/2008, -0/+8You just made the internet explode by retracting a statement after being introduced to an alternative viewpoint.
- Dgen_X, on 02/26/2008, -0/+8I must have gotten a damn good deal...$54.99 for a 360 controller with play and charge kit (battery + cable) at wally world
- deaftly, on 02/26/2008, -0/+8$59.90 @ play-asia.com if you dont feel like waiting, bought mine back in december. The white one looks better too imo.
- r3m1x, on 02/26/2008, -4/+11I don't know about you guys but I actually prefer the PS3 controller as it is right now. My only gripe with the controller are the R2 & L2 trigger buttons.
- greysun, on 02/26/2008, -0/+7http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immersion_v._Sony
- X18999, on 02/26/2008, -0/+7they were always 40 at newegg
- kingmanic, on 02/26/2008, -1/+8That $20 USD in 1984 is now $41.13 in 2007 or about $56 right now with the massive dollar dip since last year. So the prices are about right after inflation.
- clondike7, on 02/26/2008, -0/+7didn't know that...
I retract my previous statement, i'll just have to wait til the full game is out then - slaystench, on 02/26/2008, -2/+9I love all of these "too expensive" posts, have you seen the prices of xbox 360 accessories? lol
- Misanthrope, on 02/26/2008, -0/+6The Wii remote and 'chuck cost more...but also work better as a vibrator. It's a tough call.
- nsjoker, on 02/26/2008, -2/+8It's not 50 bucks for rumble, it's more like 10.
- cderry, on 02/26/2008, -2/+8You use duel shocks? Weird. I use dual shocks.
- bigbadgoat, on 02/26/2008, -3/+9Actually, its' $5 for that "last gen feature". Thats the difference between the price of a six-axis vs. the price of a DS3
- samdu, on 02/26/2008, -0/+6I literally can't remember the last time my SA has lost its connection with the PS3.
- lofiboy, on 02/26/2008, -0/+6What's it going to take for them to move the ***** analog stick where it belongs?
- WhereAmI, on 02/26/2008, -1/+6SIXAXIS costs $50, so I'm a little relieved.
Just noticing, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8 ... SIXAXIS for $40+$5 shipping. I'm not interested but I thought I'd share it with people. They must be clearing them like everywhere is doing to HD DVDs. - bigbadgoat, on 02/26/2008, -0/+5play-asia.com
- RiverBelow, on 02/26/2008, -0/+5Why is everyone freaking out about $55? We pay $59 for them here. $64.99 in some places for wireless 360 controllers and $49.99 wired...
- Starflyer59, on 02/26/2008, -0/+5I would not say it's useless or no good for that matter. High Velocity Bowling is a fun game that uses the motion sensing. If you are a bowling fan, it's probably a must have.
As far as motion sensing, If you build it(correctly), they will come. - TiMMY8765, on 02/26/2008, -1/+650 bucks for rumble, dual shock 3 is 55 bucks, so that must mean you got your sixaxis for 5 bucks. please tell me where to get these!
- smergs, on 02/26/2008, -0/+4OFF TOPIC ALERT:
Sorry, but just wanted to say for the 360 owners who talk about buying Microsoft's rechargeable battery pack, you are better off getting regular rechargeable double AA's. Duracell sells a pack of 4 rechargeable batteries and a charger for like $12. From my experience, the Duracell's hold a charge much longer than the Microsoft pack that was made for the controllers. - ashwin100, on 02/26/2008, -3/+7Yeah, but the 360 controller was released 2 1/2 ***** years ago, plus you can get it + battery for sub $40 if you shop around online. What the hell am I saying? That's still unbelievably overpriced.
Congratulations to Sony for bringing back a feature that they had with their original console controller two generations (10 years) ago. -
