- inactive, on 01/18/2008, -23/+156Not to sound too fan boyish but it appears the investment I made in hardware over software may just pay off.
- ThankTheCheese, on 01/18/2008, -7/+110I'm beta testing it now. I'll let you know once it finishes loading the first frame.
- DFENS, on 01/18/2008, -7/+104I've bashed GamesRadar for spreading unofficial rumors with horrible sources. More often then not, they turn out to be right. So this time, i'll just shut the ***** up and hope they're right.
- Xerces, on 01/18/2008, -22/+112yes the PS3 is aging like a fine wine
- seanthebond, on 01/18/2008, -3/+89Crysis= Little sales on PC.
Why wouldn't EA, the cash cow that it is, not use the code and port it to the consoles? At least then they can make some money back on what they lost on the PC version. - frogman54, on 01/18/2008, -11/+90One day I'd like to make myself pants completely out of sausage. Sausage pants they'll call me. Yes.
- inactive, on 01/18/2008, -24/+82They're afraid that they would have to rename "Crysis" to "Red Ring Generator 2008".
- inactive, on 01/18/2008, -6/+52you do its called far cry
- ZeroOrDie, on 01/18/2008, -12/+54Oh great, now we can have disappointment on multiple platforms.
- TalkingBanana, on 01/18/2008, -20/+60Can we get Crysis Wii now?
- erkokite, on 01/18/2008, -22/+57PS3 doesn't have nearly enough RAM to handle the Crysis game resources. It would have to be a cut down version with less detail and smaller environments.
- elvenseven, on 01/18/2008, -14/+49without the red-ring-of-death.
- Mejogid, on 01/18/2008, -8/+41Could be any number of reasons - presence of a hard drive, the extra raw power of the SPUs, differences in shader architecture, a big wad of cash from Sony...
- dn11, on 01/18/2008, -2/+30yes, but only with mono sound
- Arkavus, on 01/18/2008, -12/+40Having actually beaten Crysis, I can say PS3 owners (and other console owners) aren't missing much.
- J3EBS, on 01/18/2008, -2/+30Ok coming from someone that both HAS a 360 and HAS played Crysis on PC, I say that your statement is not really going to do much for the 360 side of the argument. Just saying.. Crysis is what I'm gonna call a PS3-seller.
- Blah_Blah_Blah, on 01/18/2008, -8/+35i'll wait for my crysis DS thank you.
- Pinhedd, on 01/18/2008, -12/+37I highly doubt this is true, the PS3 simply cannot crunch out the graphics that the engine necessitates. If it is ever released, it will NOT be the same as it is on the PC.
- codelogic, on 01/18/2008, -29/+53The haven't quoted a single source other than "insiders at the studio".
- Thinkingbuddy, on 01/18/2008, -17/+40I have a PS3 and still don't care.
- kiwimonk, on 01/18/2008, -2/+25Well everyone installed the demo, and found out their pcs couldn't handle it, so they went back to playing starcraft.
- omenmedia, on 01/18/2008, -15/+38Yay, PS3 owners can also now enjoy a fairly average shooter with pretty graphics and an abysmal ending!
- MyDiggIsBig, on 01/18/2008, -3/+25I would like Yatzhee's opinion on this matter
- Dokument, on 01/18/2008, -6/+28holy refresh rates batman!
- 000dom000, on 01/18/2008, -3/+25well though a little vague i do trust gamesradar as a source... or maybe i just want to believe what is being said
- 06MS6, on 01/18/2008, -8/+30How you personally would know any details about the raw power of each console is beyond me. Not that it matters since the developers of arguably the most advanced game made to date say the 360 can't handle what the PS3 can.
The days of comparing crappy ports are gone, they aren't fooling anyone anymore. - Chandon, on 01/18/2008, -14/+35If your goal was to buy hardware to be able to play games like Crysis, then perhaps a PC would have accomplished that goal more readily.
- Noceous, on 01/18/2008, -62/+83This reeks of *****. Never mind that their source is PlayStation World UK whom I've never heard of, but any journalist worth his weight in ***** provides sources. Sorry, but 'Crytek insiders' doesn't cut it. The best part is that large PS3 fanboy sites (and the submitter) are reporting this as fact. The following snips from PSN and the submitted article says it all:
PSN.com
"Due to technical reasons, Crysis is not being developed for the XBOX 360. This does nothing but re-inforce the belief that the PS3 is the better console in the long run. We eagerly await more details on this huge title that could only possibly be rivaled by Killzone 2."
Games Radar:
"Only the mighty Killzone 2 could possibly hold a candle to this shooter."
Uhhhhh no. MAYBE the fake E3 trailer... - iofthestorm, on 01/18/2008, -4/+23Of course it's going to be cut down. No console GPU has anything close to what the current generation of computer GPUs has in terms of horsepower. At best I'd say it's half as fast as an 8800GT, and that's being generous.
- iofthestorm, on 01/18/2008, -5/+24I don't think the PS3 version will have settings, since it's a common hardware platform. And there's no way the PS3 could run it at High, let alone very High. At least at HD resolutions, anyway. Of course, it's likely that they'll render at a lower resolution and then just upscale, making the whole point of HD moot in my opinion.
- PolarBearFire, on 01/18/2008, -2/+20They didn't waste all that money for ONE game. Nobody expected Crysis to be a blockbuster because of the high hardware requirements. It's meant to showcase the engine so that other game developers would buy it. That's a winning business decision because we all know that even good games come up short in terms of sales a lot of the time.
- SonicRush, on 01/18/2008, -4/+22I'd say it's the opposite. The story is average, but the way the gameplay offers so much flexibility makes it really fun to play through.
- inactive, on 01/18/2008, -11/+29Jesus CRYst
- tendonut, on 01/18/2008, -11/+27That is true....PC gamers don't like mediocre games just because it has flashy graphics (usually). Send it to the consoles!
- WhereAmI, on 01/18/2008, -3/+19Last I check Burnout Paradise and FIFA Street 3 are also coming out for the PS3. Whats even sadder is the people above me did not mention this.
If it comes out on the 360, chances are it will come out on the PS3 and chances are very good if its not on the PS3 its on the PC. - Orderless, on 01/18/2008, -1/+16I don't know why you're being dugg down. With everything turned up, you're lucky to average 30FPS on a high end rig. By high end, I mean overclocked Core 2 Duo and an 8800 series GPU. The PS3's hardware doesn't come close to being in the vicinity of this kind of power. It's all speculation right now and I know that the PS3 has less overhead than a PC, but I just don't see the PS3 running the game in its full graphical splendor.
- Sk8SkaNJ, on 01/18/2008, -2/+17There is a reason, the same reason why they ended up having to get a graphics card.
- spudnic, on 01/18/2008, -0/+14When was the last time you saw a bottle of vintage wine on a discount rack?
- gamer31, on 01/18/2008, -5/+19doesn't the xbox have more RAM and a similar GPU? Why would the xbox not be able to run it?
- ausfahrt, on 01/18/2008, -5/+19Snap!
- Zlorp, on 01/18/2008, -2/+15lets see the PS3 run it first.
- 06MS6, on 01/18/2008, -1/+14EA is the publisher for Crysis. I highly doubt they will be handling ports for it like they did with Orange Box.
- MaTT2011, on 01/18/2008, -8/+21But then you couldn't pretend to be altruistic by running your ps3 all night for a medical research facility!
- Dracusis, on 01/18/2008, -2/+15I've read interviews from Crytek developers saying that they were really excited about the PS3 and what the cell had to offer. They also said that Crysis wouldn't run on the 360 or a PS3. If they were to port it, it would be different game in their minds. Perhaps they've changed their thinking since. Several interviews have them quoted as saying they'd been working with the PS3 and wanted to do something with it, perhaps this is it, or perhaps it's just the beginning. Crytek seem like uber tech geeks, so I'm not really surprised they're having fun with the PS3, if anyone can make it shine, these guys can.
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 01/18/2008, -3/+15Oh, hello, viral marketing.
- logicalnoise, on 01/18/2008, -3/+15sorry to dissapoint but even on their ripped gaming pc rig that 1000 barrels vid was rendered at 7 frames per second. they recompiled the frames to make it in "real-time"
- inactive, on 01/18/2008, -3/+15For 'shutting the ***** up' you sure had a lot to say ;)
- inactive, on 01/18/2008, -2/+14As soon as Crysis for the Ti-86 goes gold, I'm sure they will get right to the Wii version.
- BodomX, on 01/18/2008, -2/+14Looks like it is time to start adding /sarcasm now.
- jjb123, on 01/18/2008, -17/+29Meh, I still rather have a 8800 GTX for that price.
