- Rikushix, on 12/11/2007, -0/+52Potentially the first digg submission ever to combine "360", "Mac", and "PS3" in the title.
Don't forget the obligatory "!!!!", too. - spoiled1, on 12/11/2007, -1/+25Man, I got all excited and all, but when I saw only three exclamation marks in the title, it felt like a kick below the belt, would it have hurt if you had a 3 more exclamation marks !?!?!?!?!?
- JustinHorne, on 12/11/2007, -1/+12I find it awesome that my Mac plays nicer with my 360 than a Non-MCE Windows machine. :)
Connect360 rocks. - Saiing, on 12/11/2007, -0/+8At the risk of sounding picky, they won't be *porting* anything to the PS3. Their software runs on the Mac alone, and will continue to do so. What they *will* be doing is releasing a new version to support streaming to PS3s. Get your terminology right.
I am however a very satisfied customer of their Connect360. It's just brilliant. Kinda ironic that it works better on a Mac, than Microsoft's own software does on a PC. - Topher06, on 12/11/2007, -0/+7Could be done instantly if Apple decided to support DLNA in iTunes rather then forcing streaming to Apple only products like AppleTV or AirTunes. Honestly, Apple is so backwards in some of their business decisions it is surprising they still exist today. Supporting DLNA would be another reason why people could drop PC support or at least buy a nice little Mac Mini as an easy to use multimedia server.
- tyywebb, on 12/11/2007, -1/+8Very cool, I never realized that they had this for Mac and 360 connecting.
- badwithcomputer, on 12/11/2007, -3/+9I'm not going to lie. I'm sporting wood over the title.
- enderiii, on 12/11/2007, -0/+6Why can't anyone spell our name right... It's Nullriver; one capital.
- mywhitenoise, on 12/11/2007, -2/+8Sweet! There's no way I'm paying a $50 fee for EyeConnect.
I tried Mediatomb, but setting it up gave me a headache. I must have ***** something up in the terminal during the hour long process of writing in command. - OneSevenSixNine, on 12/11/2007, -2/+7FINALLY!!! Someone has heard my cries. Now if only the PS3 would recognize my Mac formatted iPods again like they did out of the box when it launched.
- supaklaw, on 12/11/2007, -0/+5Yeah, that's really convenient for users that don't even know what terminal is. Connect 360 is $20... gimme a break. Waste a whole evening troubleshooting Fink and Mediatomb when I can double click a preference pane and I'm done... pass.
- WhereAmI, on 12/11/2007, -0/+4Edit the config.xml file in the mediatomb directory.
I needed:
ISO-8859-1
ISO-8859-1
Put that under " " (if yours says yes its the same thing)
I also added:
By the rest of the mapping. But I'm on Linux so good luck. - WhereAmI, on 12/11/2007, -1/+5Of course it wouldn't show up. Here
http://cl1p.net/WhereAmI/
idk if people can change that at anytime or not. Probably. AIM if you still have problems. - bbhh, on 12/11/2007, -0/+4yes and it works amazing. the only problem is that it won't play stuff with drm from the itunes store, but whatever. me and my roommate both use it, it's updated for the new dashboard and everything, xvid streaming has changed our lives.
- packman86, on 12/11/2007, -0/+4I tried it last night. Works great. Very simple to install. The program detects the Xbox instantly (If not, reboot)
- drakethegreat, on 12/11/2007, -1/+4I'd prefer subdirectory traversal for videos on their current application first...
- vocalyouth, on 12/11/2007, -1/+4Boo hoo. They only got the new formats working in less than a week after the update and you still find room to complain.
- directive0, on 12/11/2007, -0/+3When I brought my 360 home, the thing that floored me the most was out-of-the-box iPod support. It needed an update to play my protected music (all 2 files) but other then that, seamless. I must say, I was impressed.
- FoxMcCloud1, on 12/11/2007, -1/+4Yay, bout freeking time, and shame on sony for not being more mac friendly themselves and shame on apple for leaving it up to people like connect 360 to fix it when they could probably easily add the functionality themselves. oh well, hooray i will use it, gimmie gimmie!
- Bootes, on 12/11/2007, -0/+3The Xbox 360 supports HFS+.
- 1359399, on 12/11/2007, -0/+3Wicked - it works fantastic on the Xbox.
- Bootes, on 12/11/2007, -0/+3It's also possible to install Ubuntu Linux on the PS3. They missed one of the most important words of a title.
- sotarts, on 12/11/2007, -0/+3delete me
why can I edit, but not delete posts. - Skitals, on 12/11/2007, -0/+3I had trouble getting my Xbox to see Connect360 (the app could see the Xbox though...). I needed to open some ports in my router, and stop/restart the connect360 server. This app rocks now that we have divx/xvid support!
- Skitals, on 12/11/2007, -0/+3Hmm, I wonder if it will be a seperate app for the PS3. I currently use Connect360 and it's awesome (at least now that we have Divx/xvid support). Would be nice if I could share to both my 360 and PS3 with the same app.
- ErinIsADrunk, on 12/11/2007, -0/+2this is good news. I know that right now there are a couple of ways to stream content to your PS3 from your Mac that are free but the process is complicated and the results are unsatisfactory. I don't know if I am going to want to lay down another $20 though.
- HolyChimp, on 12/11/2007, -0/+2All they had to do with the new formats was include them in the list of what was sent. There was a workaround before the update of changing the extension of videos to wmv and the 360 would see them and play them fine.
That said, quit whining! It's a most excellent program! - xXMetalJesusXx, on 12/11/2007, -0/+2Are you retarded? Seriously....
- rspeed, on 12/11/2007, -0/+2Did they? It's not often you see something from outside Apple supporting HFS.
- Bootes, on 12/11/2007, -0/+2Yes there was a press release. You could probably find it on the divx website.
- Elric1977, on 12/11/2007, -0/+2no *****! We have to play games on consoles cause game companies don't release mac versions of pc games. They stopped doing that before everyone started to switch to macs. Hpefully what EA is doing catches the attention of the others.
- supaklaw, on 12/11/2007, -0/+2Yup I use it to stream to the 360 also... it's excellent. Only downside is M$ are ***** about the codecs.. you have to be logged into Xbox Live or it will give you an error "codec not supported"... turds.
- supaklaw, on 12/11/2007, -0/+1??? Every mac owner I know has a console... or two.
- ats314, on 12/11/2007, -1/+2does anyone else think using 360 in the name is confusing for a sony related product? - nevermind, just read it was for xbox first. Why can't I delete a thread?
- directive0, on 12/11/2007, -1/+2Hey don't waste your time, Duble. Read his past comments, his agenda is clear.
- inactive, on 12/11/2007, -0/+1any programs like this for windows i hate wmp and the zune software
- inactive, on 12/11/2007, -0/+1Only a million programs replace WMP and Zune. The title of this product should be a hint. Another hint http://www.google.com
- dubbleenerd, on 12/11/2007, -0/+1the PS3 supports the universal plug-and-play and DLNA protocols - so it is able to access shared files served by a UPnP server running on the computer. While this is a more network-friendly way of sharing media files, it is a problem in that third-party software is a must. Most home networks don't really care about traffic congestion, so I wish the PS3 was able to just plainly access shared files across the network as well. oh well, ConnectPS3, I have $20 waiting for you :)
- dubbleenerd, on 12/11/2007, -1/+2this program solves an inconvenience related to media file access, not gaming. RTFA. Also, the argument about no decent games has long been retired. Do you even own a PS3?
- jrbrewin, on 12/11/2007, -2/+2aye.. xvid / divx support native on the xbox is goodo.
as a side-note. has codec support actually been confirmed on the ps3.. last i heard was a rumour that came out quite some time after the original dash update rumour in july - kinda stank of yet another ps3 'me too'. would be cool if they sony did it tho. - inkhead, on 12/11/2007, -3/+3Who gives a *****? It's only ump whatever the hell protocol and I use a little system pref now to stream everything to my ps3 already from Leopard, it's easy as hell, why do I need something I pay for when Mac OS X does it for free?
http://www.applesource.com.au/how-to/how-to-stream ... - Barnolde, on 12/11/2007, -1/+1Very nice. I bought this soon after it came out and used it for my 360. Now I only have a PS3 and figured it'd just be more money wasted, this is very good news.
- VanillaIcee, on 12/11/2007, -0/+0thats a fair complaint. they have subfolders and multiple source folder support planned for the next major release. i can't wait.
- NagarajanA2007, on 12/11/2007, -1/+1I tried it Its actually very useful and its erally working out nicely
- vocalyouth, on 12/11/2007, -5/+5Connect 360 is the best $20 you will ever spend if you own both a Mac and an Xbox 360. It works better with the 360 than my Windows XP (not media center) PC ever did for streaming media, that's for sure. I think one of the best Connect 360 features that I never really hear anyone talk about is the ability to stream internet radio while playing games. WOXY + Geometry Wars = many long nights.
Anyway, if it will work just as well with the PS3 I am very excited about it! Maybe I'll actually turn the thing on for something other than a blu ray movie. - phoenixp3k, on 12/11/2007, -3/+2Wasn't the PS3 already capable of accessing shared files on a computer? Or is it just because it couldn't natively recognize the Mac OS file system?
- sodeaf, on 12/11/2007, -2/+0Hey Sailing, I'm only posting what they're saying. not my words
- xXMetalJesusXx, on 12/11/2007, -3/+1I really disliked the 360 Connect for Mac. It got the job done, but with the newest update, I find it much easier to use my External Hard Drive to watch videos and listen to music on my 360.
- ataoz, on 12/11/2007, -3/+1If this is true, I'll be cumming on it.
