- Insert31990, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19At first I thought this was multiplayer online Mario, that would be badass.
Although this in itself deserves a digg. - mecole21, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17OMG I just ran straight into the first Goomba.. I never played that bad when I was 5
- TheWalkingDude, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Cool; I digg it, especially being able to embed it on your own site.
I'm curious about copyright issues. It says at the bottom, "We have approved Super Mario Bros to be legal." Does that really mean Nintendo gave them the OK? This seems like a slippery slope towards ROMs:
http://www.digg.com/playable_web_games/50_Free_NES_Games - monkeyman08854, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Very nice, although I wish the jump button would act more as it did on the controller.
- heysuburbia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Seriously? A link to just one game?
Play ALL NES games online:
http://everyvideogame.com/ - WeeklyGeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6There needs to be one that has all current users on the screen at the same time, jumping around and chaotically beating each other up over coins.
- kodek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Try Super Mario War:
http://smw.72dpiarmy.com/ - Ag3ntOrang3, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10To bad it runs on java otherwise I might have enjoyed it.
- subscribtion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5To this day it is still an amazing game. Pretty much proves my theory: Nintendo >*
- HoboMaster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5You have to get days off to play Mario? It's not THAT time consuming. Or at least, it shouldn't be.
- scott1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Sorry for the missleading but I THINK there might a multiplayer mode where you can have 2 player coop with others
- user123, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5i take it this is running a rom, legal?
- n8r0n, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I just recently picked up an original SMB NES cart and a Yobo famiclone. I was surprised at how much my 4 and 5 year old boys liked playing SMB and SMB 3. I am still trying to hunt down a SMB 2 cart.
- heysuburbia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Just refresh it and try again, it happened to me too, but then went away.
- infinitesnowboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Since when could some things be more legal then others?
- techlinks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Heh, well, this is cool and all, but, I'll just stick to playing it on my NES in front of me. :D
- Midnightbrewer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It's not illegal in the sense that they didn't copy the code, but using the name and likeness could probably still get a letter from Nintendo.
- CoolDude330, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Hmmm i wish you could play with other people :P
- third_eye, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Anyone else getting a freaking PHP error?
- digitalgeek0, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Brings back memories! :-)
- Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1actully besides the fact that the this game is not legal its run in java and that quack 3 clone was likely run in shockwave
shockwave > good for 3d games
java > as most say slow - Ninwa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The game was removed "due to legal issues". Oh well!
- mecole21, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3yeah it is. A lot hard to stop moving to the right on the keyboard.
- akira117, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Get a PC!
- Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1nintendo is fine with fan games games created by the fans without profit for the sake of fun but using roms and emus is compleatly illegal
- Jarasmen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Got that too and it doesn't want to go away. I guess it got digg-effect-ish.
- firemaker103, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It's a emulator. Online.
Illegal and no big deal... - Narpas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No, this is actually emulation. The applet itself is legal, but they're using the original Super Mario Bros. code (With the main logo apparently hacked out) to run this. The end user is acutally downloading the ROM, even if he can't play it outside the webpage.
Also, state 19's got the very end of the game, level 8-4. It's pretty rockin' - yafo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I got an 'authorisation failure, NEScafe failed to authorise with NEScafe website'... any tips?
- user123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1nintendo will be coming for that site soon, with virtual console on the way...
- scott1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why is it spam?
It's not illegel. Nintendo really doesn't care about since it was 20 years ago.
Please stupid comments just burry the story. - scott1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I have to agree with you but it's not there faut.
"Super KKK Bros in no way reflects the views or opinions of atArcade. If Super KKK Bros seems offensive to you please contact the author of Super KKK Bros and not us. We have approved Super KKK Bros to be legal, aside from the legality of Super KKK Bros, Super KKK Bros may still be offensive or in bad taste."
It's at the bottom. I think there just trying to host as many NES games as they can even if they are racist. - jtrost, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'm getting about 3 FPS on my G4.
- Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1thats because it was a rom play mario fan games for your mario fix its much more legal
(as of now and a while nintendo does not care about fan games as long as they dont steal code or anything thats how that forum pokemon community gets away with making fan games) - reiggin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Um, that site also has a "modified" version called Super KKK Bros. Can't believe they'd even host crap like that. I'm boycotting them for that reason alone.
See for yoursel, if you must: http://www.atarcade.com/play-nintendo-987.html - scott1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In fact I'll personally send them an email about since so many diggers fell offended about this and I was the one to submit it.
- Colbs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Worth it just for the link to play Punch Out
- scott1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In way I think it might be making fun of the KKK. I played(I'm not racist I just wanted to see what eveone is burry this about) but it looked like in a way making fun of the KKK.
But ofcource it's a bad joke.
Send them email if you want to complain it says that at the bottom. - dude3609, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2yeah, its slow jtrost.. just use a downloadable emulator :/
- Chris3k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i'm not a racist or anything but...i could care less what any of ya'll think. the Super KKK Bros game is freaking hilarious. I mean when he gets a mushroom he gets a cape and then it can turn red and stuff i mean come on you have to find it funny. But whatever, i laughed.
- bryant, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3@thewebguy:
"it's just a rom playing on a emulator, not to mention it uses java in a browser (ugh) and it is jittery as anything. "
Yeah...It's a rom in an emu. In a browser. That's the point.
Some people don't want to go thru the small complications and (in most cases) illegality of dling a rom and emu. Does that mean they don't want to play SMB?
No. So why not make it easy and legal and just play it in a browser while "suffering" (hardly) thru some javascript and some jitters? (not even THAT jittery) - TEMM, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Its not jittery on my computer. Yours must suck.
- nevbear666, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2yes!!!!!
about time someone did that... now all i need is to get some holidays this summer to actually enjoy this one. - scott1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1They modifed it a little.
I did not get any dupe reports this link was not duped - reevolutn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1excellent, i had this on my gameboy... i must find it
- scott1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yeah before I it got to frontpage it was working fine.
So I guess this all my fault right? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This just uses NEScafe which has been around for years. It's a horrible emulator using Java. No digg.
- mrsharkattack, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1racists. no digg.
- GeneralFailure0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Pretty cool, but in practice it's just so much better to play the game on a real emulator or, if possible, the original system. The experience just isn't the same for me in a browser. Too jittery to enjoy it. No reason this should run like that when that Quake 3 thing I saw on Digg the other day ran so good.
- lindapuzhgena, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not very clever post, but... I like such articles.
