- chaosmachine, on 10/12/2007, -4/+64warning: this site launches java.
- mikeazorin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17Was that emulator supposed to run at 1/5th speed or does my computer just suck?
- inkubux, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Mine ran at 100% speed in firefox and ubuntu
- macbookpromat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9OMG I just had to beat the game for fun!
I ***** love how this shows you haw the game worked back then!
Thank you! - chadu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Ben Fry kicks A$$. For other cool stuff he does/is involved with check out processing.org.
- jonmcarroll, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8was anyone able to fill the 64 places?
- georgemoore13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5just give it a minute. it takes a couple seconds to load.
- Ygduf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The game seemed way harder to me. I think I am hardwired to press A and B with my right thumb and not my left pinky & ring finger.
- Cyber_Akuma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yes, quite easily too I might add, its not hard. Its especially easy in world 4-1, just be fire mario, stand near a pipe but far enough so that the pirana plant can come out, and just throw fireballs at a wall while likuti throws eggs and they hatch. While 1-2 slots may remain unused, the combination of fire mario, fireballs, pirana plants, the fireballs exploding on a wall, likuti, unhatched spineys and hatched spineys easily use up more than the 64 slots and the system had to start swapping tiles of sprites quickly in and out of memory.
Quite interesting to see really. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Mine ran pretty slow as well. Could just be the amount of traffic.
Using Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20060601 Firefox/2.0 (Ubuntu-edgy) w/ Java(TM) Plug-in 1.5.0_08-b03 - evilspoons, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Mine ran a bit slow. Firefox 2.0 for Windows, Sun Java 1.5 Update 9, Turion 64 ML-30...
- jla1987, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9Very cool. Locked up Firefox for me though :(
- surgen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The game did seem harder for me, too. Good 'ol Mario, they just don't made side scrollers like they used to.
- LordofChaosIori, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It's a bit sluggish, but I guess it makes the game easier ^_^
- YesMoreLight, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Hey did anyone else find the secret life on level one right before the first gap?
Oh man the memories...
Besides that i found it quite interesting. - Cglass, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Level 3? I always hopped straight to 4, sigh
- Rekzai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ran perfectly on my laptop
I'm using firefox 2.0 - cogen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For some reason I always went for the warp pipe instead, though now I can't remember why...
I remember trying to get both, and never succeeding, heh. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Meh, screw that, I hit the warp pipe instead. You can get infinite lives in world 3 anyhow w/ the turtle trick.
- dagooh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just loaded to reach the - 1 world and see if it would display some weird graphics for it.
- xp3ll3d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1it is still available at

- ErrorOfRuto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This reminds me of making Super Mario ROM hacks with NESticle back in the late 90's.
- 3Three, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0too cool.. very interesting to see it in action :)
- seaavocado, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ygduf: cross your hands.
d'uh :) - eoncire, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I filled 63 in the first underground level. Got on top of the bricks at the top of the screen as fire mario and ran as i shot fireballs, goombas and the freaky turkey w/ a shell things along with coins filled 63 of the 64 slots. Ahh the memories....
.eric - wayniethep00p, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4I am currently taking a class (Design 28: Interactivity) by Casey Reas at UCLA, who started Processing with Ben Fry at MIT. Both men are brilliant. Processing is definitely worth checking out for any designers who are interested in a more visual-orientated approach to programming.
http://www.processing.org - Mexrocker, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4i swear.. it sounded like my macbook was about to asplode :(
still cool.. i guess... =/ - Aliarse, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1dead?
- MattKamineko, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Aye, 'tis interesting. (Although I technically should be sick of it considering I program this stuff :P )
The NES, SNES, GBA and DS all have similar hardware graphics, and most emulators should allow you to see the tile memory and sprite allocation tables. These constains aren't particular to SMB, y'know.
Which brings me to another point... you can't just stick the full game of SMB on the Internet like this, can you?
I thought That Was Supposed To Be Bad? (Not that I'm really complaining!) - TylerLavite, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2killed mine also im on a macbook
