- imsteve22, on 10/12/2007, -11/+14After A LOT of trying i finally got a perfect game without cheating at all. For the most part i can get my average error at about somewhere around 20 miles or under every game.
- imsteve22, on 10/12/2007, -21/+37by the way, im Canadian... just thought i'd tell you
- blapierre, on 10/12/2007, -27/+792%, 13 miles. Go back to geography noobs.
- rnelsonee, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2100%, 0 mile average error. I played it a few weeks ago (about 10 times) to get that. After playing enough, you'll be able to place states like Missouri with no help at all (no nearby states or water to help you).
- G_Raph, on 10/12/2007, -1/+87i got a 92% as well. I showed it to my girlfriend and she only got alaska and hawaii correct....i think its time to find a new gf.
- GenoG, on 10/12/2007, -2/+390% 15 miles 356 seconds, fun game!
- Crusty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4First try 90%, 12 miles average error in 211 seconds. I messed up right off the bat starting with Kansas. Kind of hard to place it just right with no landmarks showing. It was a fun challenge though.
- micahglasser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+192% 6 miles
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1141 error of 44 miles (82%). This game is a little ridiculous, in that you have to somehow guess exactly where central states go without any sort of markers. I would rather play a states game where they show the layout of the US with state lines, and ask me to name each state.
- ChildeRoland420, on 10/12/2007, -1/+194%, 9 miles, 271 sec. And that includes time to look through the Digg comments.
- Seng, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21st try, 48 out of 50 perfect, average error 4 miles.
- NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11@Seng
48 out of 50? Don't tell me you missed Hawaii and Alaska... - dolemite5005, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19I just played and still feel rather intelligent.
- hellyes, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13I'm having some trouble... Could you guys give me a hint as to where California, Texas and Florida are located?
- aybdude42, on 10/12/2007, -14/+7ouch i got 74% DIGG ME DOWN!!!!!
- aybdude42, on 10/12/2007, -14/+7DIGG PEOPLE!!! DIGG ME A HOLE TO CHINA!!!!!! DOWN!!!!
- dkleehammer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+196% Avg Error 2mi
- insub2, on 10/12/2007, -4/+792% 21mi 326sec
That game would be better if...
1. it didn't leave the states there (one can guess pretty well by the boarders left. placing the last few states for example, way easy.)
OR
2. one was only given the name of the state.
3. there was a second level of capitols. - L0t3k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, I suck. 88%, 32 Miles avg. error, 432 seconds. :(
- lansuggs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+182% 72 miles(116km) 272 secs Canadian, first try. Not bad, eh!
- BlackCow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I knew all of the east coast states (because I live there) and the northern midwest but down south was kinda hard for me.
- greyfedora, on 10/12/2007, -0/+084%, average error 35 miles, 277 seconds and Canadian -- I wonder how people would do on a provinces game...
- qualish, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1@ greyfedora
Canada has providences now? : ) Honestly, it is impressive how well our Canadian neighbors are doing. It is incredible the amount of culture (influence, or, call it whatever you prefer... I'm not trying to make this political) the US projects onto the world.
(90% / 19 miles) - qualish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hahah... providences -> provinces. That totally negates my sincere post earlier. D'oh!
- MatttK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The best part is that while Canadians are acing this test, the average American would have trouble placing Ontario and probably hasn't heard of the rest of the provinces (let alone territories). Of course, that could reflect poorly on either one of us, depending on how you look at it. ;)
- ZeroArmada, on 10/12/2007, -0/+284% / 108 miles, 274sec.
Not too shabby. - brainache, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Got 78% but I'm british, I have an excuse!
- haiduz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+180% 76 miles 335 seconds - first try
Id say its pretty good considering I kinda haphazardly dragged the states at first not caring to take the time to place them exactly. I at least set foot on a third of the states so its kinda funny that some of the foreigners scored higher. I guess foreigners are inherently better at geography.. :) jk - iruel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah i only got 70% with 141miles. i'm Canadian. this wouldn't even be a game if it was with Canada's provinces, 20 seconds and your done with zero km in errors.
- harlequinjester, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8well, the first time I played it I had 42 correct, with an error of around 30 miles, so I don't feel too stupid
- pennyfan87, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3woohoo! it the dig down game!
- dBLiSS, on 10/12/2007, -1/+377% 78 miles avg. Non-American on the first try.
- Asiyura, on 10/12/2007, -1/+178% 210 miles 668s ... hell yeah, always been bad at geography.
And I never been to USA nor studied it's geography, but I'm great when it comes to jigsaw. - nipterink, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@Asiyura:
http://subliminalmessages.com/loans_53.htm
knock yourself out.
- Pignanelli, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7My first game was 82% correct
- onishenko, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1First Game = 94% (3 states just off) - Average 7 Miles. I'm Canadian as well....
- kellymaher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And I thought my 76% was good for a Canadian
- oderdigg, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Canadian here and I got 78%, 150 miles in error and 508 secs. Not bad at all I would say. Better than many Americans for certain.
- gregcotten, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@oderdigg
Boy, you are asking for it - aren't you?
- JarekB, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4First game 78% correct with 82 miles avg erro
- bizzay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm glad they didn't throw Rhode Island at me first--it looked like another state's piece of crap.
- ShosuroYuu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+590% 12 miles, 358 seconds on the first try
- cmcarson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i had a 90 too but I was 27 miles off in 306 seconds.
- rstarr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+290% 14 miles 357 secs
First try also.
I messed up Missouri real bad, it was the 1st one. - bobothn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@rstarr
don't feel bad i messed up Missouri to i was 200 miles off on it and i live there just kinda hard judging where it is in relation to the boarder with no other states around. that said it was also the only state i screwed up on first time around. sept Hawaii and that was just my mouse screwing up. - anvilon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1First try, 92% 10 miles. Placing a midwestern state (Kansas) without reference points is dang near impossible. I did misplace Rhode Island, I'm sure some people in Connecticut would have been unhappy...then again, maybe not.
- RockMyMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I played this game awhile ago and I did feel pretty stupid.
- brian4572, on 10/12/2007, -17/+4send this to Bush, below 100% and he is booted from office!!
- willcode4beer, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5lets just make it a pre-req for running for president
- jtseverson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10below 100% and booted from office?!?! Wow...that is pretty unforgiving since I don't know anyone who can look at a blank map of the US and place a non-border state exactly: particularly within the delimiters set by the game.
I'd love to see you get Tennessee or Kentucky right without having anything around it to guide yourself by. My average error was like 20 miles on my first try...and I got 82%. The only one that I seriously would have counted wrong was my guess on Rhode Island --- everything else was very close.- MakutaBloodlust, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0RHODE ISLAND?
*gasps for air*
its fun to put all the Eastern states in the Pacific and the Western ones in the Atlantic...
- MakutaBloodlust, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0RHODE ISLAND?
- mynameistim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1294%, 28 miles!
that did the exact opposite of making me feel stupid.
it was fun. - seattle98104, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I'm gussing the submitter is usually fails his geography classes.
- BionicBeefpile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I wonder how he does in English class.
The "play if you want to feel stupid" phrase is right across the top of the page with the game as well. - steste, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2and im guessing you failed english!
- rivercityjessie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2well im guessing the submitter quoted the article...but your guess is as good as mine.
- BionicBeefpile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I wonder how he does in English class.
- MasteRR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+178% 83 Miles 256s
- JCinDE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oddly I don't feel stupid at all.
94% / 6 miles average error / 180 seconds- DiggsOnlyNeoCon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Second that... 90% / 12 miles
- DiggsOnlyNeoCon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I'd like to play this with states and state capitals... quick... to the programming lab!
- sruffelman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Well of course you'll be off a few miles when it asks you to place Kansas in the middle of the country without anything to reference. The states are easy to remember -- if you're an American, you should be able to easily locate and name all 50.
- daishin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+176% 33 miles average error 397secs
- manny651, on 10/12/2007, -2/+390% on the first try, and I'm Canadian.
- bamapachyderm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yeah, I'd like to see this done on Canada. Bet most of us (Americans) would fare a lot worse! (I would.) ;-)
- iggee85, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Well, we only have 10 provinces and 3 territories and most of them are huge. Compared to this U.S. game with 50 states (some like Rhode Island that were really annoying to place), the Canadian version would be really easy.
- OpCzar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Pretty neat combination of a jiggsaw puzzle and geography. Wonder if OLPC users will be able to use flash for something like this.
- juan23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+186%. Average: 17 miles. 236 seconds. First time.
- FrankieB078, on 10/12/2007, -0/+188% 25 mile error. Unfortunately for you I don't feel stupid at all.
- haxx4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Average error is somewhat flawed because you could intentionally place a state right next to where it's supposed to go and if the error distance is really small then it will lower your average error.
- fitchmicah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1even if that distance was between 5-10 miles, it would still lower the average quite a bit.
- imsteve22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2it takes into average all of the 0's you get so it'd be pretty dumb to do that
- EmmSee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2...wow this new Digg is slow.
That was easy actually! I don't feel stupid...- nepawoods, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"...wow this new Digg is slow."
yeah, I thought so too
- nepawoods, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"...wow this new Digg is slow."
- warmonger48, on 10/12/2007, -0/+196% 16 miles 286 seconds. It's kinda fun, but not that hard....
- mecole21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+194% 9 miles. First time. i shoulda done better though..
- AgentEntropy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+196%, 4 miles
First try.
Not to brag or anything... - MrMysterious, on 10/12/2007, -0/+290% 19miles 202 seconds...
If you get land locked states at the beginning it's a real bitch. - Trexdacy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0First try:
98%, 8 miles, 226 seconds
placing Iowa with no helpers is what got me. - mr_yuk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+198% 1 mile 404 sec
- forgetmenots, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Most users didn't take 404 seconds. Maybe you pulled up a map, perhaps?
- mr_yuk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Nope - I have a job. My only error was the first one - 37 miles off placing MO in the midddle with no reference.
- SirThom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+190%, 14 miles, 283 seconds on my first try.
- Drewskey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+198% 1 mile 184 sec...
I'm a geography major, what can i say?- DaveV, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I was a truck driver almost 10 years ago and I get close to your score. Maybe you should study harder.
- preservatives, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Stupid that perfectly placing a state doesn't count as "0 miles" for your average error.
- rnelsonee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes it does. Anything within 10 miles or so counts as zero.
- Glatz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+190% 13 Miles, 251 seconds, first try.
- cheekdog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+180%, 396 seconds, 27 miles off. sucks to let go of your button before you're finished dragging the very last state into place! new england always screws me up but i was pretty close. only overlapped where the state was supposed to go.
- mz00m, on 10/12/2007, -1/+192% 14 Miles 299 seconds, first try...
It's not that bad unless you get stuck with iowa, or some other mid west state in the first few... - MobbyG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+186% 43 miles 221 secs.
- Senturion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+186% on the first try, and I'm Canadian.
- DreKor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I love that all these comments have ~90% accuracy. I wonder what happened to the other hundred people who played this.
- gweedo767, on 10/12/2007, -0/+180% 62 miles 420 seconds (ont he phone...that delayed me a bit)
- AgentAce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1First and only try: 96%, 3mi. error.
- satanatnmtedu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1This has been posted before. No digg, and marked as a duplicate.
- Bean945, on 10/12/2007, -0/+352%.... 220 seconds
- tocksin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+196%. 8 miles. 181 seconds. first attempt. it only makes you feel stupid if you are stupid.
- fatcat4009, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1That's not too hard. I think I actually misplaced 3-4. 90%...that's definitely good enough for the US education system. :)
- DreKor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'd say it's above average.
- texnofobix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+194% Avg Error 9 Miles Time: 306
The hardest I think was placing Delaware near the beginning. - mcaaronice, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1100% on my first try. Ya big dummies.
- mcflynnthm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+190%. w00t for me.
- cdharrison, on 10/12/2007, -0/+194%, 13 Miles, 223 Secs
- imfm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+094%, average error 32 miles, 234 seconds. I'm Canadian, but a permanent resident of the US for the last seven years.
- a55h4t, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Get a brain morans!
- shifty2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1im stuck... where does Michigan go??
