- G_Raph, on 10/12/2007, -1/+87i got a 92% as well. I showed it to my girlfriend and she only got alaska and hawaii correct....i think its time to find a new gf.
- dolemite5005, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19I just played and still feel rather intelligent.
- imsteve22, on 10/12/2007, -21/+37by the way, im Canadian... just thought i'd tell you
- mynameistim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1294%, 28 miles!
that did the exact opposite of making me feel stupid.
it was fun. - NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11@Seng
48 out of 50? Don't tell me you missed Hawaii and Alaska... - jtseverson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10below 100% and booted from office?!?! Wow...that is pretty unforgiving since I don't know anyone who can look at a blank map of the US and place a non-border state exactly: particularly within the delimiters set by the game.
I'd love to see you get Tennessee or Kentucky right without having anything around it to guide yourself by. My average error was like 20 miles on my first try...and I got 82%. The only one that I seriously would have counted wrong was my guess on Rhode Island --- everything else was very close. - hellyes, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13I'm having some trouble... Could you guys give me a hint as to where California, Texas and Florida are located?
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1141 error of 44 miles (82%). This game is a little ridiculous, in that you have to somehow guess exactly where central states go without any sort of markers. I would rather play a states game where they show the layout of the US with state lines, and ask me to name each state.
- Pignanelli, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7My first game was 82% correct
- DiggsOnlyNeoCon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I'd like to play this with states and state capitals... quick... to the programming lab!
- Slovenian6474, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Next up, African countries!!
- harlequinjester, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8well, the first time I played it I had 42 correct, with an error of around 30 miles, so I don't feel too stupid
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I was a truck driver almost 10 years ago and I get close to your score. Maybe you should study harder.
- ShosuroYuu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+590% 12 miles, 358 seconds on the first try
- bamapachyderm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yeah, I'd like to see this done on Canada. Bet most of us (Americans) would fare a lot worse! (I would.) ;-)
- sruffelman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Well of course you'll be off a few miles when it asks you to place Kansas in the middle of the country without anything to reference. The states are easy to remember -- if you're an American, you should be able to easily locate and name all 50.
- Crusty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4First try 90%, 12 miles average error in 211 seconds. I messed up right off the bat starting with Kansas. Kind of hard to place it just right with no landmarks showing. It was a fun challenge though.
- iggee85, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Well, we only have 10 provinces and 3 territories and most of them are huge. Compared to this U.S. game with 50 states (some like Rhode Island that were really annoying to place), the Canadian version would be really easy.
- JarekB, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4First game 78% correct with 82 miles avg erro
- BionicBeefpile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I wonder how he does in English class.
The "play if you want to feel stupid" phrase is right across the top of the page with the game as well. - HP844182, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3For a real challenge...don't look at the name of the state...go by shapes
- imsteve22, on 10/12/2007, -11/+14After A LOT of trying i finally got a perfect game without cheating at all. For the most part i can get my average error at about somewhere around 20 miles or under every game.
- RockMyMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I played this game awhile ago and I did feel pretty stupid.
- seattle98104, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I'm gussing the submitter is usually fails his geography classes.
- insub2, on 10/12/2007, -4/+792% 21mi 326sec
That game would be better if...
1. it didn't leave the states there (one can guess pretty well by the boarders left. placing the last few states for example, way easy.)
OR
2. one was only given the name of the state.
3. there was a second level of capitols. - Bean945, on 10/12/2007, -0/+352%.... 220 seconds
- culbeda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3So why is this site ripping off www.sheppardsoftware.com, shrinking the map to make it even harder and claiming it as their own? To make it even worse, Sheppard's has several levels to the game (for free) and games for several different locals... (Canada, Europe, Africa, Asia, etc.)
I'm sorry, but submissions should be buried like Hoffa! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What country are you from?
Try placing Colorado, Kansas, Arkansas, Tennessee, Nebraska, Iowa, Oklahoma, Utah, Kentucky, West Virgina, or Wyoming on a map with NO reference marks on it and get the state within 50 miles of its borders. It is not as easy as it sounds. - MrMysterious, on 10/12/2007, -0/+290% 19miles 202 seconds...
If you get land locked states at the beginning it's a real bitch. - OpCzar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Pretty neat combination of a jiggsaw puzzle and geography. Wonder if OLPC users will be able to use flash for something like this.
- brainache, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Got 78% but I'm british, I have an excuse!
- cmcarson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i had a 90 too but I was 27 miles off in 306 seconds.
- SpazticChips, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You all brag now, lets see you place all the countries of the world, now that's a challenge.
- dBLiSS, on 10/12/2007, -1/+377% 78 miles avg. Non-American on the first try.
- nepawoods, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"...wow this new Digg is slow."
yeah, I thought so too - crowbarred, on 10/12/2007, -0/+250% 800 avg miles ~ heh, just as well i come from New Zealand eh?
- ZeroArmada, on 10/12/2007, -0/+284% / 108 miles, 274sec.
Not too shabby. - BlackCow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I knew all of the east coast states (because I live there) and the northern midwest but down south was kinda hard for me.
- khag7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Ways to make the game better (harder):
No state names given
After you place a state it doesn't stay on the map (after half the states are on the map NOBODY should miss a single one)
No Mexican or Canadian Border (so the only borders that help are the oceanic borders) - rstarr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+290% 14 miles 357 secs
First try also.
I messed up Missouri real bad, it was the 1st one. - JCinDE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oddly I don't feel stupid at all.
94% / 6 miles average error / 180 seconds - rivercityjessie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2well im guessing the submitter quoted the article...but your guess is as good as mine.

knock yourself out. - imsteve22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2it takes into average all of the 0's you get so it'd be pretty dumb to do that
- rayearth42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Close enough.

Also,
http://sickflash.com/europe_education.htm - fitchmicah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1even if that distance was between 5-10 miles, it would still lower the average quite a bit.
- kirkness, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1me too. everyone should do it once. and if you're from Ca. like me, brace yourself.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My 6th grade social studies teacher made her classes learn all 50 states and their capitals (and DC of course). I probably would have learned them all on my own anyway but I learned them at an earlier age...
