http://necromanthus.com/Games/ShockWave/quake3.html - boberto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27is it just me or am i hitting the bot with 10 rockets and not killing it? Still very impressive graphics-wise.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27..or you could get quake 3 for linux, which has been out since quake 3 for windows came out.
- Progression, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24Now, I'm not trying to be picky but why aren't the movement controls set to WASD?
- BlindIrishman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21How about bunny hopping and rocket jumping?
- blofeld9999, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21Yeah. The only game we have is Photoshop.
- Roger, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18@gleb32:
Yeah, just reboot your computer. - wingnut21, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16What's with WASD not being the default?!
- anachronix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13that lara bot is a nightmare
- Roger, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Dude that was 127 days ago.
- Roger, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13"GAY controls"?
"linux FAGS"?
Homophobe? - alinush, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11I already know this game but i love it!
Necromanthus announced the planned features:
1) the 3rd bot
2) Kineterra map
3) CTF mode
4) multiplayer option (already full functional, but disabled he said)
can't wait for them. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Shockwave, smart guy.. shockwave.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+15that's pretty cool proof of concept but it's soooo slow rendered with shockwave. this could be used for many things in web design and real estate sales virtual storefronts architectural websites, the possiblities are pretty open.
it's way to damn slow for a FPS though, I got frustraited very quickley. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7ohgr
do you play the real quake3/4 at all? the frames were quick in this demo, but the input response was dog slow comparitivly. I'm not really complaining. just saying that it's hella slow if you play quake. - bigthecat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/901/quakenu9.jpg
- nhprm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I was not impressed by the AI. The ladies would just walk past me, which I am used to, but, in an FPS, I expect a little forced attention.
- sonicdeath, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6My whole college career was playing this game...I.....must.....resist!!!
- m0laria, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11Yes, because a quake 3 port to shockwave should have the same controls as CS:Source.
- lickmygiggle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5If you're on an Intel Mac, open your browser in Rosetta (its the only way shockwave will run) and it should work.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I can..
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9No problems here...
- gblackbox, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Nods, no issues with FF 2.0 here
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8every dupe is a dupe is a dupe
- TroubleInMind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4/agree
- niteskunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yeah, same thing... I made some dead-on shots with no response. I agree, though, this is quite cool.
- MYNX, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7very impressive!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6i can
- Roger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4That annoyed me too.
I think when you change them to WASD you can't shoot while moving (might just be me). - Lord_oftheTrons, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Bah esdf > wasd
I never could understand the obsession with wasd. For Q1 it was great, but when you needed more bindings, why not free up qaz for your pinky by shifting over to esdf.
I'm not trying to be picky :P - TroubleInMind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3hats off to the guy that did it. a great display of skills to write that engine. yeah, it's not full function. still very impressive.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4lol, he bitches and bitches, then tells linux users to stop bitching
- penneyisok, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2you can actually change the controls in the start window, but its almost not worth it. just fyi
- Latka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2A) It looks fine.
B) Until you provide a name or a link, your point is moot.
C) Where's the link to your creations? Did you make a game that looks like this? If not, quit bitching.
D) Yeah, i bet in real life the delay between firing is shorter. - gleb32, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2yeah how do you respwan after dead?... any one figure that out?
- jkill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Close Firefox and delete ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/pluginreg.dat
Worked for me. - jmack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2SERIOUS FLAW - you can't rocket jump! hah. :)
- ElectricGrandpa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Phosphor... Definitely.
- ElectricGrandpa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You obviously know nothing about what you're talking about... You certainly don't know anything about shockwave.
- tacojohn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Which is better? Phosphor FPS or Quake 3 Forever?
http://www.digg.com/playable_web_games/Which_is_Better_Phosphor_FPS_or_Quake_3_Forever - Daedalus17, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I guess that is why the call it a pre-release...
- zephc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1its a good tech demo I guess, but the controls are pathetic, and though it runs *smoothly* walking is dead slow.
- BasouKazuma, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3This game is pointless. There's one small map and two bots. When you kill the two bots, nothing happens. You're just left to run around and do nothing or restart the game and kill the same two bots again.
- CircleFusion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1At the top of the screen where it shows your controls (the very first screen that comes up) it says Quake III Forever Demo v0.9
- Latka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ICANN (??)
- shakeeb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Uhhh, you don't even do anything...
- ChaosElement, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"It looks fine"
I dunno. Personally, I'd rather play Wolfenstein 3D over this crap.
"Until you provide a name or a link, your point is moot."
http://www1.rasterwerks.com/game/phosphor/beta1.asp
Not only does this look loads better than this, but it would actually make a decent stand-alone FPS game, shockwave or not.
"Where's the link to your creations? Did you make a game that looks like this? If not, quit bitching."
You don't need to be experienced in game design to criticize the work of someone else. Even though I do have quite a bit of experience in game design (particularly level design), I don't need to prove that I have more skill than this guy to criticize him.
"Yeah, i bet in real life the delay between firing is shorter."
Are you trying to say that this game is more realistic because of the huge delay in weapon firing? I never said it had anything to do with realism. I merely stated that it's not even relatively close to being accurate to the game it's based on.
If you're going to make a game based on another, at least try not to make a mockery of it in the process. - alinush, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1a shockwave demo of Quake 1:
