- chrisbasham, on 07/22/2008, -0/+26I agree. Making a JavaScript game instead of opting for Flash. That takes cahones.
- FuzzyCat, on 10/11/2007, -0/+25
No, sometimes sacrifice is the only option - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+24LOL I love this game, I still have it on Floppy! LOL (I just never had the heart/reason to throw it away!)
- MisterSam, on 10/11/2007, -0/+23I used to hate how you had no option but to nuke any blockers.. :( Why cant they be turned into walkers again??? *sniff*
- CopyNinja, on 10/11/2007, -0/+21You have it on floppy, It was that small? wow! This brings me way back to my first computer i remember using with windows 95. I used to play this for hours
- alwaysmc2, on 10/11/2007, -1/+22Installing Lemmings Revolution now...
- upsilonh24, on 10/11/2007, -1/+21Man, you were actively looking for a duplicate, weren't you? Get of life, for the Christ's sake!
- wasteman, on 10/11/2007, -3/+22i love how when you click fun, the first game you can choose is called "Just Dig!"
dugg because you can dig. - dabs, on 10/11/2007, -0/+19Very impressive bit of coding, great fun!
- FuzzyCat, on 10/11/2007, -1/+19"Lemmings will fall through a trap door into each level. Your job is to get them safely to the exit by using the Lemming skills at the bottom of the play window. Simply click on a skill icon to use that skill. Some levels stretch beyond the limits of the window, so there will be scroll bars in those circumstances.
The game is a lot of fun since it presents a new puzzle with each level that must be figured out by planning ahead if all the Lemmings are to make it to safety. The author plans to implement 30 levels for each of the 4 increasingly difficult game categories: Fun, Tricky, Taxing and Mayhem; however, there are currently only 10 levels available for each." - topgun553, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17Does the comment about his first computer running windows 95 just make anyone else feel really really old?
Man 95 was so high class back in the day from 3.1 and don't get me started about what we had before that. - Fhwqhgads, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17I keep getting connection timeouts.
Digg killed Lemmings! You bastards! - LexMortis, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15Whoa.... the memories.
- FuzzyCat, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14
The author released it under the gpl, you need wonder no more...

You will need to 'capture' the graphics yourself since they are actually from the original game... or you could draw your own.... - digitalpardoe, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13http://games.funnygames.nl/lemmings/index.html
Don't know if it's the same as the original appears to be down. Fun never the less. - KingBabi, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11"Just Digg!'
- Manhigh, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11Excellent! I've been waiting for this to come to Xbox live, now I dont have to.
- chuzbox, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9Does anyone know how you would even go about coding this in DHTML?
- slsanity, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Once you give a lemming a job can you make it go back to just walking mindlessly?
- DrCream, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7The original was good because of the music and sound that was top notch when it came, this kind of lacks because of the lack of sound.
- Adam420, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Download the full orgininal game here, plus Oh No Levels!

Greatest game ever made... - battlefield1985, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7I'm not gonna lie..I'm starting to fall for the retarded chick in the snorgly banner. ---->
- foolfromhell, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5There is music on IE...
Not on FF.
Was on Digg a long time ago. Awesome game. Sucks that the music doesnt work in FF. - s1ade, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Memories such as getting something like Doom 1 to work in DOS 5 networked, loading IPX drivers and everything else high to keep enough conventional memory free for the game to load, and all the emm386.exe switches... great days!
- rebopper, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5I remember lemmings from the 386 days I think. I could never get them to listen to me though. Just walk back and forth til the time runs out.
- gavintlgold, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I played lemmings on an Amiga... but i'm a teenager still :P It was my dad's computer... we still have it. Works fine! ;)
- elarson, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4when is someone going to release The Incredible Machine in this fashion?
- XenonofArcticus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4You can also get Lemmings for PalmOS, with all the original sounds and graphics. Stunning:

New ways to waste hours of time.
Lemmings was by DMA Design, published by Psygnosis, one of the top-notch Amiga game developers. Astonishingly, the same folks are still around. You might have heard of some of their other lesser-known games like GRAND THEFT AUTO:

BTW, Blood Money rocked too. I still have that on Amiga floppy somewhere. - Icklehamsta, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Same, it just happened to be sitting next to me right now in it's box :D
- nightwing2000, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3It had music? Next I suppose you're going to tell me it had colour, didn't need a green-screen monitor.
- ajchavar, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4dhtml lemmings: http://games.funnygames.nl/lemmings/index.html
- fatdog789, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Given the length of time since this game was posted on the web, I'm pretty sure that the current levels are the only levels that will be implemented.
(This was on Digg almost 1 year ago, and a few months before that, and again before that...) - cybernezumi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3FYI, Lemmings has been resurrected for the PSP, but the controls leave a lot to be desired. I really wish they'd bring it to the DS, it'd be perfect for the pen interface.
- PhirePhly, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2@knowsfear: because it's a wrong xkcd reference. Good game vs annoying OS fanboys. At least *I've* never screwed them up.
- Cine, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Woah, I missed that game. A year ago or so, I tried to find a playable version for OS X, but couldn't. Thanks.
- deweyhewson, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Here's the Windows 95 version if you'd prefer it:
http://de.geocities.com/ghoul_warrior/lemmings95.html - ccanni1028, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Upload the files to your computer, ZIP them, and put it up for distribution! I have been searching everywhere for the original disk.
- OwlFlavored, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2For anyone interested, you can save your blockers if you can knock a little bit of ground out from underneath them with a pick ax, or the move that lets you dig forward (as long as these don't set you up for more deaths). It's weird what little strategies you retain when you haven't played a game since you were 8 or so...

- scottschiller, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Writing stuff like this in Javascript takes a fair bit of time and can be complicated due to browser issues, but isn't all that different logically speaking if you were to do it in Flash (using Actionscript, based on the same standard as Javascript.) Regardless of the language, you'd still need to have individual "sprites" representing each character on the board, some game logic to do animation, collision detection and so on.
I remember a while back, Crisp (the author) got a nastygram from the european equivalent of the software protection agency or some similar group. Things were complicated as the ownership of the game (who actually owned the rights, Psygnosis or ??..) was in question given the original company and its assets had changed hands a few times.
Anyway, shameless plug -I have a similar project from 2002 as well (I believe it's been dugg before, but never really caught on.) You can play original levels, or make your own and play other users' etc. If "Arkanoid" doesn't ring a bell, "Breakout" may.
