- lcarsdeveloper, on 10/11/2007, -1/+50Instead of everyone downloading from the original site (which is killing the bandwidth), I've posted a mirror of the 3MB swf.
It's missing the preloader, but it should still be faster than the source website:

Enjoy! - echoforever, on 10/11/2007, -3/+43--

- Nat3r, on 10/11/2007, -3/+30or EXTREMELY slow
- echoforever, on 10/11/2007, -0/+20My calligraphy sounds horrible :(
- Error601, on 10/11/2007, -9/+28That sounds like a program I had for my Atari ST 17 years ago. Cool toy but not useful for actual composition. The best way to compose music is sit down a piano and fiddle around, get your melody and harmony progression established, and then worry about arrangement.
- snypa, on 10/11/2007, -3/+17Thanks for that
- dbug, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13Whatever I do with it, it just sounds horrible.
- ryanonfire, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14too late
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11Yes :)
http://rapidshare.com/files/32382704/PaintMusic.zip - diggdong, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11That is some the most beautiful out of rythmn music I've ever done.
- theamazingkort, on 10/11/2007, -3/+13I'm stoned and I give this the thumbs up.
- JazzFlight, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Feels like Electroplankton (DS game).
For some reason, it seems like the Piano is out of tune with the other instruments.
It's pretty relaxing just playing with the strings alone. - zzz@tkz, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10You sir, win.
- montiff, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8Can't save the song you made ??
Lame... - eatspaper, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Duggmirror only caught the loader.
http://www.ampledesign.co.uk/va/va.swf
goes directly to it (though i've noticed there are some options mentioned that are not listed. - KidVicious, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5I've found I get the best sounds with a combination of Flute, Strings, and Harp. Really gives an ethereal, relaxing sound.
- DigDugDigger, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8It's just insanely slow.
- Foamator, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6...Paint your own special song.
- Error601, on 10/11/2007, -5/+10Bizarre dig downs. I guess no other real musicians in the crowd.
- arcooke, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Patience, grasshopper.
- nickbarber, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Has anybody gotten passed the loader page?
- steven401, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Good concept but needs tweaking - anything you 'make' just sounds poo.
- t1da1, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3What, no didgeridoo?
- th3heretic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Self advertising ftl?
- jimgreer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Goes great with Ambien.
- nautre125, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2It needs a bit practice but it's really relaxing after you understood the basics.
I used the flute and the bass, and it's sound pretty zen. - TrailOfDead, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I agree, i would just stick to the strings and the flute. Create a pulse on the low end and transition to the mid and upper.
This needs better definition of the controls. For instance, flute tone is controled on the Y scale, string on the X. I'd like to control the pulse of each. Also, the "delay" slider seems to be really random.
All that being said, I sat here and pulsed for 30 minutes. Relaxing. Again, start with strings. - KitchenRaider, on 10/11/2007, -5/+7I gave up at 6%
- Domstersch, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1If you're looking for music that's a little unconventional, and you're running Linux, just create a bitmap in your favorite editor and run this while editing it:
while true; do cat whatever.bmp > /dev/audio; done
The size of the bitmap determines the length of the sample that will loop. Contrasting colors work best (all white or black won't produce anything because they produce a constant amplitude - like, 0xFF for white). Lots of fun. - ricree, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I'd recommend sticking with the flute, strings and violin. Some of the instruments, especially the guitar, just sound terrible no matter what.
- intilli4, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3You don't really paint but this is a very very cool idea
- th3heretic, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3Yay for that fix.
- GangsterCompute, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Eh.
- Meowbiusfox, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1It's kind of difficult, playing the guitar solo from Freebird on this thing
Plus,I like to use an extortion pedal with my Peavey classic. - foamy101, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1i think harp and strings is a very "purty" sound..... relaxing
- soil, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Gets points for the whole, color and music marriage though.
- dbeg, on 10/11/2007, -4/+5"Mama Cass Elliot - Make Your Own Kind Of Music" was around before LOST...
- drgmdp, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2it would be great if sounds were not fake instruments and if you could save your composition.
- rynTAU, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1it would be nice if this could be written using only notes from a blues scale.. so it sounds like it would go together..
- flashy007, on 05/13/2009, -0/+1I can make music, yes!

http://chohada.fr/ - petestv, on 03/06/2009, -0/+0I doesnt work for me either, i do prefer to play with real instruments, some advice at http://www.artistsmusicians.com/blog
- mattmollysdad, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1i hate shortcuts. u r never too old to learn how to play the piano... especially all u computer geeks... for some strange reason musicians n computer geeks come from the same planet. so for buy urself a music keyboard or better get urself a mac with "garage band" then spend another hundred on a M-Audio setup and u real have a lot of fun and the stuff that comes out won't sound like some toy to get an 18 month olds attention.
- zipzipzipz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1i can't get it to load
