- Otto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+56The game is fun, but the ending is a bit silly. Took about 3 hours to beat.
How to beat it:
Dig down deep and get as much of the higher cash amounts that you can. Try to stick to a central shaft to make getting up and down easier. Save your money for a gas tank upgrade or three, so you can stay down longer. Keep going deeper and deeper. You want to start collecting gems as soon as you can get that deep (around 3500 feet down). Once you start collecting those, your cash amounts will go up rapidly. Spend a few bucks on a couple of fuel reserves in case you get low on gas while you're down there. Buy some quantum transporters to be able to come back quickly (tip: it always pops you out above the gas station with some random speed, so if you hold up, you might not take any damage).
Collecting emeralds will give you $5000 each, so start hitting those hard and spend the cash on hull upgrades. Take a while to collect lots of these and buy the $100k hull. You'll need it. As soon as you get down lower, you'll find rubies. These are 10k each and they help upgrade your hull and gas reserves.
Hopefully you've stuck to a single shaft to get up and down. The problem with the single shaft is the rocks in the way. Spend some cash on dynamite to blow these away, they make it easier to return to depth, since you can just fall all the way. Make sure to remember how deep you were before so you don't hit the bottom and die.
After the rubies, you'll start to find diamonds ($100k each!). Here's where you really need the hull upgrades, because there's pockets of gas all over the place, and these do some heavy damage to you. Spend your diamond money to get the best hull and gas tank. Spend the extra on repair nanobots and dynamite. Lots and lots of dynamite. Repair nanobots will help if you do get nailed by a gas pocket, the dynamite, used carefully, will let you get to the diamonds without having to dig through too much now dangerous dirt. Note that any dirt with something in it does not have gas and is safe to dig through.
At about 5800 feet, the depth indicator goes bonkers. Here's where the real money is. You can find the $500k element all over the place down here, but there's lots of rocks in the way, and pretty much every empty dirt is a gas pocket. Get enough $500k elements to max out your ride (it only takes 3 or 4 more by this point), and get an extra couple while you're at it. You want about 100 sticks of dynamite, about 100 repair nanobots, and as many plastic explosives as you can buy. At least 150.
Now it's just a matter of digging down. After a while, there's pretty much nothing but rocks and lava. Use that dynamite, because every piece of empty dirt is explosive and you want to save your hull power. Eventually, you hit bottom. You can't blow up the stalactites, so head right, blowing up things as needed. At the very right, you will have a way out, and you will face Mr. Natas.
Defeating this dude is easy. Just stay on the ground, avoid flying. Head straight for him, and just as you hit his legs, fire off a plastic explosive (C key). You'll take some damage as you go through him, if your health hits about 2/3rd full, hit R for the repair nanobots. Turn around and repeat. Eventually he dies and comes back with double health. Just keep blowing him up as you ram the legs and you'll eventually defeat him.
Spoiler: The ending has you getting cash for all his body parts and other stuff, along with 250k shares in his company, thus giving you billions of dollars. Kinda weak. - xXShadowstormXx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+29Man, gas is cheap in that game.

http://www.xgenstudios.com/play/motherload - xelloss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14ITs pretty good, wish it was an xbox 360 arcade game.
- ThisGeek, on 10/12/2007, -7/+16Is there a grammar section on digg?
- Protonz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Great game. I always needed to keep digging because I just knew there would be something interesting just a few feet lower... there was.
- d3m3, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8You slaughtered satan 1 times, your final score is 1,560,723,200, and you recieve 150,000 stakes in hells stock.
Didn't see all that coming. - Icecold54, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I played this game about half a year ago and i literally played it for like 4 hours straight. It is a great game and very addictive.
- Colbs, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Why did it blow up when I ran out of fuel?
=[ - dingmah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Earthquakes are an awesome way to destory hours of shaft digging!
- Suruxia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I remember one time at a LAN party I had, we all took a big break and had a race to see who could beat this the fastest. My parents kept coming down and asking us why we were shouting "I HIT THE MOTHERLODE."
- penwen, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Old game
but fun - CloudStife618, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5obviously made before the war... you can tell by the gas prices

Buuuut. I highly recommend playing this game from start to end. A lot of fun.
I just put this here in case someone needs it. - Gatorbyte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Started playing it and before I relized it it was an hour later.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Upgrade your cooling fans to take away a HUGE bulk of damage from the gas pockets and lava. Oh btw, bring 100 c4 explosives and 100 nanites when you get to the bottom ;)
- Anth, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6No *****, I'd definately pony up $5 for this.
- interiot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It's actually a pretty well designed game (except for possibly the earthquakes). The strategy keeps changing the deeper you go (eg. 0-100 feet: just survive until you get the first gas upgrade, 100-3500 feet: get down to 3500 feet, 3500-5000 feet: collect enough money to win, 5000-bottom: meet the boss and take him out). And the various upgrades are somewhat well balanced so you have reasonable alternative choices... it's not as well balanced as a mature RTS, but then again it's free. But it's got a fair bit of replay value for free.
- Blarion, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7I used to play this game a while ago. Ending is so lame.
- ThankTheCheese, on 10/12/2007, -12/+15You need to excavate yourself a dictionary -- it's addicTIVE!
- noliberalbull, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4yeah, i got addicted to it on their site a few years ago, haven't played in awhile though
- kevinmotel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Douglas Quaid: Excuse me, what's that?
Burly Miner: You mean the Pyramid Mine? I used to work there, until they found that alien ***** inside.
Douglas Quaid: Well, it's a rumor isn't it?
Burly Miner: Ha, think so? - Otto, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The symbols and elements are randomly placed each time. But yes, it is very worth it to get these early on, if you see them.
- dingmah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The design of the game and it's interface just makes you want to play the game! One of the best done flash games I have ever seen. *Goes back to playing*
- interiot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Local_Shared_Object
Same concept as a cookie, but stored in a different place. - xswag, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Another Cheat.
Since it uses a LSO (Local Shared Object) you can use this program to change your cash amount.
Download
http://www.alexisisaac.net/flash/articles/.sol-editor-local-shared-object--2.html
In fact it may come in handy for other games.
Play the game for just long enough to save.
Then open the LSO file
Documents and Settings/Username/Application Data/Macromedia/Flash Player/xxxxxxxx/www.miniclip.com/ (miniclipxgenml)
with your new LSO Editor.
There will be about 31 Object Array values.
Click the one labeled 1 and give yourself as much money as you want over in the Value box. I tried 8 Billion and it worked.
Have fun. If you don't want to do that Amoeba posted a cheat file already fully loaded. I just want to use this for other games that are a little tougher. - majorbabu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4if only there weren't any of those stupid earthquakes... redigging really took the fun out of it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Because otherwise you would be stuck and wouldn't be able to go anywhere or do anything. Lesson: don't run out of fuel.
- amoeba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Just finished! Great game. I loooved it.
By the way, how does this game store the saved game data?
Is it stored in a cookie locally? or is it stored on the server?
I could only find 3 cookies from miniclip and none of them look like save game data.
Anyone know? - shoover, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It took me about 30 sec to give up on cigarettes - doesn't mean they aren't addicting.
- amoeba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@interiot : Thanks! interesting....
- frostyausty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i hate that your digging trails go away every time you load
- jcapogna, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ah the save feature is a load of crap. All it does is save your money and items, all your tunnels are gone. Ahhh.... hours wasted.
- Otto, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Gas pockets are bastards. But even the best hull won't help you if you still have the stock radiator. With best hull and radiator, hitting these usually gives only about 60 points of damage (out of 180 for the best hull).
- phatpat88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2EFFING GAS POCKETS!!
- Otto, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3If you accidentally dig into lava pockets, the radiators reduce the damage you take. It also reduces the damage you take from gas pocket explosions.
- interiot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Redigging isn't really too much of a problem... just make a couple runs to ~4000-5500 depth to get enough cash to fully upgrade your Hull, Fuel Tank, and Radiator, then buy a ton of refills and dive all the way down.
- timmyallen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this have been around a very long time, but very relivant :)
thanks. - Mavrik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Good game, just finished it now after about 2 hours. It gets really easy once you get to the bottom, just grab the 500 000 gems, and as many as you can. I also suggest buying fuel refills (50 or so) so when you are low, you don't have to fly all the frig up to buy gas, just press f. Buying the teleporters also work good for paying for the gems quickly. Boss isn't too bad, just buy lots of c4/repair bots. Still, with everything maxed out, he still managed to get my full down to a pinch a few times.
Overall, a game worth my time. - Badaudio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1AWWW man i got to the 5000 mark after a few earth quakes might i add, and i hit a gas pocket and died, what crap, (didnt save either)
- interiot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And since there's no limit on nanites... get 200 if you can afford it.... just keep hitting "R" over and over while fighting, and it's a no-brainer win.
- golddigga, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we used to play this game motherload in 5th grade at computer time - Andy92, on 01/15/2009, -0/+1http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MotherLoad
- minideezel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I know u guys rn't going to like this, but on the xgen motherload ( www.xgenstudios.com/play/motherload ), there is a cheat, in the options menu, type bling bling, u will hear a beep, then keep typing bling, get as much money as u want
- LabThug, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Yeah, I just got on one side and dug down, down, down, etc. I only moved right to avoid rocks and other stuff I couldn't digg through. If you change the goal to just getting down ASAP, it makes the game go a lot quicker.
- interiot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Upgrade your radiator, they reduce damage from gas pockets dramatically.
- interiot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1HUGE hint: gas refills tie for the cheapest refill, at $2k. They're a steal at that price.
Yeah, it's a good game, though it is a bit of a time sink. It's hard to make it to 3500 feet much sooner than 15 minutes into the game. It takes a fair bit of time just to dig down, and there's not a lot of thinking going on during that time. - minideezel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1On the xgenstudios site, the game is updated, slightly, (www.xgenstudios.com/play/motherload) it allows u to save to a username and password, but if u leave the game open, then sleep, then wake up, it won't let u save, and the tunnels still rn't saved, get best radiator for gas pockets
- zzbigalzz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yay, just saw that i was #32 on the leaderboard, w00t
