Hidden Flash Games to Play at Work
opensourcepalm.com — I threw this site together to be able to play games at work, and camouflaged it to look like an error message. Once you get the "page cannot be found" message move the mouse over the right side of the screen. That's where the games and directions on how to use the site. I just wanted to get some feedback on the "flow" of the site...

- Johnnyk101, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15This was great, the first time I tried it I laughed so hard. Fun and funny.
- AdamD, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Tip: Press tab to select the games.
- dnthomps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7It is alright. You have some good feedback so far. You need a javascript function that closes(hides) it when you click out of the box. Maybe an inch or two out of the box so you do accidently get messed up. There are a lot of things you can do with this to make it better. Think about the shortkeys that some sites have. Like Gmail. You can get somebody to build you the scripts for $100 or less.
- clos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14LOL i think you got dugg man
- KSava, on 10/12/2007, -0/+57"Monthly Traffic Limit Reached

It took me a while to realize that he got dugg to death. - dnthomps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15http://realm304.com/pcbd/index.html
Click on the recycle icon for now to get the one game I have up.
I will host a readme in the link that says 'Back" at the bottom.
I will make something more useable. I will use the IBOX script and shortkeys. dnthomps at realm304 dot com for further comments and ideas. - klownkiller, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@dnthomps
seriously AWESOME! - ptrcd003, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I got 80 on the miniputt
- evilpig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2LOL I got an error.
- tmarcV2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4everybody loves an error page with google ads on it
- dnthomps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Thank you guys. I am working on it( http://realm304.com/pcbd/ ), There is a lot to it and when completed there will be a browser redirect for Firefox and other browsers for their default page. Also thinking of doing a google and yahoo interface so that the boss doesn't think I am staring at a page cannot be displayed error all day.
I really don't play the games though. I just like to code it while I am at work. If you guys have requests you can email them to me. If you have some games you want added you can send them to me too. Sorry about the errors. I should have created a dev directory for me to mess around on while I have a stable release for the public. I will have some more games for you guys tonight and I will create that sandbox for myself so you guys don't have to see me work.
Thanks for your support. I do not plan on posting this to digg yet. Not until it is completed and I get ahold of my provider to find out how much traffic I can handle. Being that I just said that it will probably be posted by somebody tomorrow. lol. Either way I am having some fun with it. hope you guys do too. - WernerCD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+044 on miniput on my second run... dam the windmill and dam the 18th hole
- matx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15The background repeats!
- thewebguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14yes plz add this to the body's css:
background-repeat: no-repeat;
also you should do a browser redirect for those with firefox so it looks believable - mc7winkie, on 10/12/2007, -20/+2@ matx
Really? I had no idea...
- thewebguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14yes plz add this to the body's css:
- Artifez, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6A non-repeating background would be nice but otherwise a good idea.
- saska, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3But what if I'm using Opera?
Clever, though.- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It's for at work, I doubt your work will have anything other than IE.
- saska, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3No, I use Opera at work. :)
- Grub, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7repeats and low image quality
- mc7winkie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21Good idea. To bad there are banner ads by google...
- alexp2ad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Yeah, having the google ad ruins it, can't you hide that with the game?
- tecmec, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6nothing happens when you click a game.....and the background repeats
- mc7winkie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Did you read the directions? Just click the "+" sign in the top corner.
- tecmec, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Okay, I see now. But honestly, i never saw the link to the directions before now...i just never hovered over it.
- ExtremeRyno, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2As above, without the repeating background, this would have been an A+, but I'm afraid all I can give is an A. Nice job.
- short_man, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You should have a #ffffff background with a centered error image.
- Powerdrift, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4not centered:
body {
background-color: #ffffff;
background-image (/image...);
background-position: top left;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
}
(I prefer not using the background combo) - elv1s77, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6you can save 3 keystrokes and just use #fff
- Powerdrift, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oops, just looked back and found an error...
should be background-image: url(/image...);
- Powerdrift, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4not centered:
- briansorders, on 10/12/2007, -19/+2haha
- iodeken, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17since when does the ie error page have google ads on it?
- rnbwbrt4eva, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2yea, I can't see the actual page, yet there are ads....
- yahoofrom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2so that you can see whether the site is dugg to death or the error is fake.
- Recluse, on 10/12/2007, -16/+4None of the games work.
- mc7winkie, on 10/12/2007, -20/+4Bury this
- consoneo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Click the + sign...
- Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1kevin nose
go back to the preschool where you came from
- kevinnose, on 10/12/2007, -111/+12i really hate it when my error pages contain 'Ads by Goooooooooogle'
- mc7winkie, on 10/12/2007, -61/+3I already said that. Geesh, asshat. Who do you think you are? The guy who made digg?
Burying Kevin Rose's comments FTW!! - tamzarian, on 10/12/2007, -6/+34KEVIN _NOSE_. Now if it were 'Kevin _ROSE_' I would have still dugg you down.
- mc7winkie, on 10/12/2007, -11/+22***** man I didn't even notice. Thanks for the help. Bury the comment even more. He is a traitor to digg.
- quentinmcalmott, on 10/12/2007, -10/+21Actually, he isn't the guy who made Digg, he's just impersonating him. Check out the screename. It's "KevinNose", not "KevinRose". (capitalization mine).
Besides being an asshat, he's breaking the Terms of Service: http://digg.com/tos which state in part 3: You may not (i) select or use as a Digg User ID a name of another person with the intent to impersonate that person; (ii) use as a Digg User ID a name subject to any rights of a person other than you without appropriate authorization...
edit: ah, spent too long reading the TOS page... beat me to it. - AdamD, on 10/12/2007, -5/+24@kevinnose
2 words, you suck - mc7winkie, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11@ quinten
You sir are a nerd in the nicest way possible. Lets bust down KevinNose and report for breaaking TOS. Yeah It was kinda hard at a glance telling that it wasn't Kevin Rose, but I guess I was right calling him an asshat. :) - kevcowiffle, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8I think this whole kevinnose thing is as ridiculous as any of you do, but he's not breaking the TOS as quentin has written them;
(i): While he is CLEARLY impersonating someone else, he is not technically using the name Kevin Rose. If the rule was just about impersonation then there would be no argument, but it is a name created on his own.
(ii): Kevin Rose doesn't own the rights to Kevin Nose. Again, I think what he is doing falls just barely on the legal side.
That being said, what kind of ASS has such a bad identity crisis that he needs to imitate someone more popular than himself on the internet? - mc7winkie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Notice in the TOS it says with INTENT to impersonate. He has intent whether or not it is actually Kevin Rose's name. He also uses the same picture as Kevin Rose. So either way he is impersonating, because when you impersonate someone you don't have to use the exact spelling or pronunciation. Only try to appear as the person.
- kevinnose, on 10/12/2007, -16/+3@AdamD
no uhh - mc7winkie, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Shut up kevinnose, you have no right to comment. You're a traitor to digg and I will bury all of your comments until you have been forcibly removed from digg. I expect all of you to do the same. Also, NEWSFLASH: Breaking TOS isn't cool.
- kevinnose, on 10/12/2007, -14/+7@mc7winkie
Traitor? Cause i commented on a story? Its not my fault people don't know how to read. You are lame; but i will digg your comment just so more people notice it. - darklordbobo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1>kevinnose?
That's freaking hilarious. With that name, you're either a moron or a genius- due to the sort of reaction people are going to give it and what sort of reaction that you're trying to get.
Oh, and I love the penciled in beard and mustache. What, are we in a daffy duck cartoon from the 30's? - mc7winkie, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1The user account "kevinnose" is no longer valid.
- mc7winkie, on 10/12/2007, -61/+3I already said that. Geesh, asshat. Who do you think you are? The guy who made digg?
- BehnoodMarvazi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Google ads give it away.
- Snakedal337, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Good Idea I guess...
But that error screen looks nothing like firefoxes.. :-) - Roryking, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4site's down
someone duggmirror?- Klisk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3*lol*
- tamzarian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh no, that is where the games are. He changed it ;D
- gamekid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Unblurred PNG background FTW.
- GWoods, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16the digg effect can be seen here:
http://s1.shinystat.com/cgi-bin/shinystatv.cgi?L=1&USER=charliedelong&NH=1- Snakedal337, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2LOL That is way to awesome
Now we see why we don't digg ANYTHING with Flash, PHP, Perl, ASP, or whatever other language. It uses lots and lots of extra bandwidth. - borninda818, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3wow...nice link
very imformative
- Snakedal337, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2LOL That is way to awesome
- techlinks, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3What Google ads are you guys talking about again?
- Skizzot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't comment much. But, thats pretty nifty.
- imdeanlabouty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Haha. Not totally convincing, but pretty awesome nonetheless.
- unabonger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3good idea, poor implementation...

- diggmaddy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3While playing a game, The boss key could be made more accessible. IMO, that should be something very easy to find and reach, in a state of panic :D
- Stalks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Is the page error we are getting now, about bandwidth, genuine? Or is this meant to be the one with games on? lol confused >.
- Mexrocker, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6LOL its genuine...
- Zreitan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3you got feedback alright, we killed your site already... very good while i could access it though.
- glafira, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Dude DiGG is becoming a test for websites to take man.
- Chipsandsnacks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14For a second I thought the traffic limit page was the page I was looking for
- kodeiko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Took me more than a second, dang.
- sei0n, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1How ironic
- PigThief, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Wow, that was confusing. It's supposed to be a fake error message, but now it's a real one. :D
- HP844182, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11That's what I was thinking..."Where they hell are the games? He hid them pretty good."
- Hydraulix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Finding the game is the game. And I think I lost. :(
- Catachresis, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3guys you clearly don't get it
reading the error message and then pressing "more" to read that it's broken is the actual game
everyone who said it worked is hell of playing along
NOW THAT'S THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX- hinterteile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3There is no error message. It's now a Traffic Limit message.
- penwen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No....
his traffic limit was reached,
so no one else but the lucky firsts could play - Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1better yet think "outside the error message" and you will find a way
and rzrsarp there is just click the top part or the bottum part to hide the game
- kersny, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0anyone know what kind of code it takes to make these invisible links?
- jakemitchinson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You just use hyperlinks that are the same colour as the background. In this case, the background is white thus you make the hyperlinks white.
- charliedelong, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The hidden links are just part of CSS:
Ex)
a:link {color: #ffffff; text-decoration: underline; }
a:active {color: #ffffff; text-decoration: underline; }
a:visited {color: #ffffff; text-decoration: underline; }
a:hover {color: #0000FF; text-decoration: none; }
This makes the link white (as long as you have a white background it will be invisible) when it is idle, or after it is clicked. The only time it will show up (blue) is when the mouse is moved over it....
- AboveBeyond, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2I dont get it....all I see is an error message.... :[
- birkoph, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5MIRROR BITCH
- Saix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I didn't get it for nearly a whole minute I was thinking I did something wrong...awesome work
- whitty, on 10/12/2007, -15/+8It's been mentioned before in the comments. This, while not entirely stupid, is a bit unreasonable. I'm no military expert, but either in testing or in the field is a simple(r) heads up rig with a fiber optic sight and/or a pinhole camera on the front of the rifle, fed to a display on the point man's helmet. The point then holds the gun around the corner, exposing a whole inch of finger in the process. Disadvantage: minimal exposure of flesh. Advantage: no reduction in barel length (this new one has like 7 inches, wtf?) and therefore maintained accuracy, and no awkward postions when actually moving around the corner in question.
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I dugg your comment up because I have no idea what the ***** you are talking about.
- thekidder, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2sorry, you've got the wong story!
- userChris, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1http://digg.com/videos_educational/The_Gun_That_Shoots_Around_Corners_(video)
- jgreene777, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1LOL! This "article" is such a cluster that folks are even posting replies to the wrong digg post.
- joaob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9does anyone else see any irony in all this
- GrimReeper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5http://www.duggmirror.com/playable_web_games/Hidden_Flash_Games_to_Play_at_Work/
- evilpig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Damn, the error page got an error? WTF?
- BG2010, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1to dnthomps

- Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1you mean filters and yes unless its blocked it should
- PokeSmot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nice site.
Map a key to the Boss Key. It'll be faster. - AkshayGenius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i dont see no google ads!
- matt9m5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1bandwidth... damn
- DelSolMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Oh man. I just spent like 30 seconds waving my mouse around on the monty limit page looking for the game.
- charliedelong, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That was fast. The daily bandwidth is WAY to low. Any hosing suggestions anyone????
BTW: Thanks for all of the suggestions... This is just something I threw together at work to play a few games incognito....- flashcat7777, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Webhostingbuzz (www.webhostingbuzz.com) gives you 100gb of bandwidth for $36/year (plus Cpanel, everything you could want, etc.)! Great host... I love 'em to death.
- AboveBeyond, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, I bet a lot of people were confused and spent minutes on looking at the "bandwith limit error page" rather than the correct "page could not be displayed".
Good thing someone DIDN"T inform the diggers after 100 replies... :p
- crobinso, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1and to think i just installed guild wars onto my pc at work.....
- Guder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I say save an actual error page. throw it into a table and in the right colum throw a nice CSS menu that pops out light grey over white. Currently it sticks out and in firefox feels broken.
- supes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very cool, Thanks.
