- xvertigox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+51Official page of the Flash Element TD, use this so critters can get more money from advertising, indie game developers deserve it. http://novelconcepts.co.uk/FlashElementTD/
- damentz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20My e-penis is clogging your tubes.
- biggles266, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19not as fun as the original, IMHO. it has lost all its simplicity and charm. the original just needed a few tweaks and addtions (pause button, random map or map levels, and some more types of towers so you didn't have to just pick the green ones to get the highest score).
most of the fun of the last one was tower placement and upgrades. that's all you needed to have an addictive concept. with this one the upgrades aren't as significant, so it's not as fun to plan where your $$ are going to go. land & air types are distracting. the bumbling, swarming creeps are less interesting than the creative dots concept (how may times did I hear someone saying "die dot die!".
rather than being able to watch the dots run the gauntlet, it's now just an overly-busy RTS feel. and the original tower graphics were cool, simple as they were. I played the original for 5 days, played this one for 5 minutes.
sorry developer, no offense meant but you just needed to tweak the old one. - xtmno3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19For those looking for tips:
-Build new towers before upgrading old (unless upgrading old would improve their range to benefit you a lot). Upgrades allow about the same boost in damage as building a new tower, but are more expensive.
-Place towers in fashion to utilize as much of their range as possible, being able to shoot where the mobs don't go doesn't help you.
-Only build 2 'fast' towers right at the start, then sell them soon after. They suck later on.
-Build a ton of the splash towers and upgrade accordingly (again, only if the boost in range would give you more shooting ability).
-Build some air defense but not a lot, since you can have 100 mobs on the screen at once you can afford to let the air ones circle a few times before they all die (plus air rounds are few and far between).
-Only build a few slow towers (near your main groups of splash towers), and NEVER upgrade them.
Using these tips I made it to level 69, score of 1900 on my second try (first try I figured most of the tips out).
EDIT: Didn't mean to reply, apparently digg thought I should. - robbh66, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Bleh, not as good as the original in my opinion. Almost no incentive to upgrade past a few levels and they give you way too little cash as you get into the 50s. I played the first one for hours, this one I doubt I'll play for two.
1664pts / level 61 - blizzok, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16...
blizzard had nothing to do with the defenses. they made the games, not the maps... - Rikushix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Sweet...I was just about to go to bed, but now I have to stay up for hours :S
- makerm2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Am I the only one who thinks the original was much better? In this one, you cant make a 'maze' for creeps to go through, you can't challenge yourself by sending waves early, and after playing for 10 minutes, i still dont know how to die - perhaps by allowing more than 100 to get in the map? Not as fun, imo.
- cmcarson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14this one is lame, but it did make me want to go back and play desktop td.
- creepsrus, on 10/12/2007, -6/+18A killer sequel to a brilliant game. The best seems to have gotten better!
- mjpatey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Sorry, this doesn't hold a candle to Desktop Tower Defense:
http://www.handdrawngames.com/DesktopTD/
I just can't stop playing it! - digg-dugg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Everything is too tiny compared to the first one. And the route for the enemies is lame. The first one is much better.
- jmkiii, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14First one is better, I can beat it!
This one doesn't have good graphics, good sound, and it is not fun. - crossmr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Which is pointless since flash high score lists are like porn for script kiddies who want to hack them to increase their e-penis size.
- apex32, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12MONEY CHEAT! Just enter this URL:
javascript:window.document.embeds[0].SetVariable('gold','digg'); - Bullsnot, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11SC was made by Blizzard as a follow up to WC your retard.
- GregorCZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I don't know... I kind of like the first one better for it's minimalistic/simplistic design... this is much more complex.
Btw how do you die? - swordedge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+81664 level 61 is roughly what I got.... to little money in latter levels.
- AWBoy666, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Level 54, 1400+ pts first try. Kinda boring though. You don't get $$ fast enough in higher levels. Doesn't scale well.
- theone2Punch, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Ok check this math:
I'm at level 60 right now and I'm getting $6/creep which are now at roughly 5000hp. The best towers are $350 a piece so that means I need to kill almost 60 creeps just to earn a new tower, but that tower can only shoot 250hp at a time. (two towers are better fire power than one tower plus upgrade at the same price). So that tower that I just spent $350 on needs roughly 4 levels just to pay for itself let alone become profitable. Plus the tower damage remains constant while the creep HP keeps rising in a semi linear fashion. In other words no matter what your skill, you will eventually lose.
The obvious solution is to have the amount of money you earn per creep increase as the creep HP increases, but the author didn't seem to think of that. - xvertigox, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12Features include:
-Infinite number of waves
-Vastly improved graphics and sound
-Different difficulty levels
-Ability to pause
-New gameplay concept and *much* more. - Dustin00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5which stole from Dune, which stole from Power Monger, which stole from Populus (maybe I have those last 2 backwords).
Nothing new under the sun. - xvertigox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The leader-board is not up and running yet. It will be working tomorrow though.
- asteron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5level 84 - 2330
Fill the inner island with blue towers and the middle ring with red towers.
Do not build any of the other towers and do not build on the outer ring.
Once those two are filled up you can start upgrading. - samhorton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I was pretty interested in this version since it received quite a bit of pre-release hype, but the original Element TD is much better. If you haven't already tried the real TD mods for WC3 however, then you are really missing out -they are so much more fun!
- thydzik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4why exactly is it more expensive to upgrade towers?!?!
- xvertigox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5It's a flash version of TD maps from WC3 which are based on Starcraft maps so yeah, in a way it is. Of course the graphics and gameplay are totally different but the concept is similar.
"A Macromedia Flash based Warcraft TD game inspired by Element TD for WarcraftIII." - about the original Flash Element TD, - Megaten, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Oh lord no...this is NOT gonna be good for my productivity...
- weters, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I hate to admit it but the original is just so much better. As my friend said, this one doesn't have the homemade feel to it and it's overproduced. It's too convoluted.
- bioskope, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5In other news Productivity of IT Firms drop by 25%
- chewitt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5you can click on the creeps to fire?? an hour of playing, and you just blew my mind
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Thanks for the cheat =D
- rompom7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The original wc3 elemental td is better... but this is still a great and addictive game.
- xvertigox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Official forums, with news about future game updates etc - http://novelconcepts.informe.com/index.php
- rsdouglas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4A crap sequel to a good game...

- dfnk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Once there are 100 of the guys running around.
- spidoman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Now I just need the hacked version with mounds of money to relieve my frustration.
- tonyhon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I found out more cheats
// change number of monster per wave. Increase it so you can kill more monster per level, increase score fastera.
javascript:window.document.embeds[0].SetVariable('creepsPerWave','100');
//change the first tower's range, and t1 for tower 1, t2 for tower 2.....so on
javascript:window.document.embeds[0].SetVariable('_level0.t1.range', 500);
I got more, will post it if there are people still watching this thread. - spooq, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Those games actually take their ideas much more from JRR Tolkien. He was the one who borrowed directly from the old tales and poems, as part of his academic study.
- spidoman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Tips:
Upgrades aren't worth it.
Big laser cannon things are a better deal than other land cannons. - Shadowdev, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Too easy huh?? thats why you only made it to level 54?? not to mention that you probably had it on Normal and not hard.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@ dested
You're not your, as in, "you're an idiot." - Bixter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3They should really rename it "Anti-Monster Parade Squad"
- ijonard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I used the money cheat and set up the defenses then left it alone, right now it is at level 331, score of 9500. The enemies have a hp of 175,000.
While I respect the idea of an infinitely scalable game, in practice it isn't fun. The original had a goal, an attainable one at that.
Who are these creatures anyways? Why are the just walking around taking it? In almost all tower defense games they can damage you in some way. My theory is that they are actually peaceful protesters, marching for their rights. If enough of the population marches at the same time, chaos ensues. In response, the government has sent you in to crush the rebellion. - RatherDashing, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Direct link to game, no spam:
http://www.candystand.com/games/fctd/tower_defense.swf - EviLiu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The upgrades are not tweaked for gameplay that makes sense. The graphics are a little ugly. I want the firing sound effects, but not the music.
- Appox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Fun game, I would like them to add some features the original had like blocking with towers and upgrade time.
- TimTheSloth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I got to level 94 using only splash and air towers.
Dont upgrade until you have all of the good spots taken up, pay attention to how much damage your upgrades are getting you, going past level 3 or so is pretty much a waste from what I looked at. - jasonhazel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i've been checking back to the novelconcepts site every day for a link to the game. i'm glad it's finally done.
